The interviewer did lead him on saying the gap was there. I don't know what they were talking about.

I think the main take away is he didn't expect Leclerc to brake so late and expected him to yield.

The gap was there. Straight onto the run off.
 
I wonder if anyone would try to another pit stop. Rather than starting on the hard, do a medium and then pit for soft at the end

Some drivers don't have good hards left, e.g. Ricciardo, so some may try

So Ricciardo only has softs left, he has to make these hards last a bit longer

What was the point of Mediums if you're going to manage them the distance? Use the pace and accept it's an extra pitstop.

Not having any hards left I reckon, but still the extra stop seems more sensible

Perhaps it was purely because of the grid start and the laps thereafter
 
Wonder if Lewis can make mediums last 25+ laps.
While there is less fuel load.
But it is still a bit of distance on those tires.

He was on Hards that were only 4-5 laps more used than these Mediums. Keeping those on wasn't a bad option.
