Car was perfect as far as we know, it was just not ideal preparation and not having time for two seperate runs.
Niki just said in an interview that both cars had problems with the fuel pump/pressure (something with the fuel, I honestly didn't followed it 100%) but the difference being that Nico had that problem while everyone was in the pits waiting for Q3 to start.

Imagine how sad and pathetic HAM would sound in these press conferences if he was driving a Sauber instead of a Mercedes.:(

Perfect lap from Ricciardo! 👍

It was a fuel pressure issue for Lewis....

For both drivers. Rosberg's car wouldn't start in the garage, they both had high fuel temps.

Weather forecast: rain in the morning, dry for the race. It's Ricciardo's to lose right now...

PrtScn button broken? :lol

Ricciardo is certainly in a great position but i think the chances of a safety car negating his SS advantage are high. Still, track position is king so he should still be in prime place to win.

The single most important Pole for the year, with the smallest margin for error, goes to Dan the Man

I have full confidence is Dan's ability to drive smart, keep the car off the walls and to look after his tyres.
Now, if only his new Renault, sorry, Tag-Heuer engine performs for the whole race.

...And he doesn't get bent over by a goofy pit strategy

Great Quali as expected, Dan's time indeed. Still think Rosberg is the favorite.
Should be fun tomorrow, hopefully it stays dry.

Monte Carlo - It is either raining- or it is going to rain... Champagne.

Wonder if Old Man Max will pit after the first lap and try for a single stop run to the flag , Dan can hold the lead and back the pack up...

Was thinking the same thing for Max his strategy...he could be the race hero again if that payes out...
But all depends on the weather tomorrow!!

Still hoping for a good finish for Max...but it could also be a vey boring race..

Hope for the best

That's some creative thinking there but there's bugger all chance of Dan doing Max any favors like that.

With Dan starting on the SS tires, if he can get off the line and to T1 first, he may hold up all the US runners for the first 5-10 laps before they pit, doing Max a favour even if it isn't fully intentional.

A very good point.

I'm just hoping Dan can make it to T1 in first place & no one tries a desperate dive bomb on him.
I fully expect his car to be heavier on fuel than those around him when you consider how new the engine is. Better to overfill it a bit than to use a syringe and come up short.
As for Max, when you look at just how far behind, time wise, those at the back are once they've all sorted themselves into single file, Max will need to make up over 30 seconds by the end of lap one & that will only get worse as the race progresses.
If you've ever seen the closing laps of the 1992 race at Monaco, you'll know there's no place more important for car placement in F1.

The bigger concern isn't over fueling him, it's the brand new engine in his car not breaking down that is the main concern. The polesitters usually makes it to turn 1 here unscathed, as he's on the clean side of the track and the run is very short. P2 tends to swap around with P3 due to them being on the dirty side, so Hamilton has a chance if Rosberg makes any mistakes.

Add to that the fact Dan is starting on the Soft tyres and the guys around him are starting on the stickier Ultra Soft tyre, he'll do very well indeed to be first to Ste Devote. As long as Nico & Lewis remember the race continues past turn 1 and don't outbrake eachother, Dan's biggest concern, as you say, will be getting 78 trouble free laps from the engine.

I'll be surprised if Ricciardo wins. This year, he just doesn't have any luck whilst out front.
