Because he had balls. How do you know that?
We've been over this already. Button took the racing line. It's not Button's fault if someone he cannot see decides to go for a closing gap. Hamilton went for a gap that was always going to close.
Watch it again. See how Rosberg and Schumacher ahead drove the line that Button took too?
In this case, I think it was more due to his tires being worn and going slightly off line into the corner.
Watch it yet again. When Button looked in his mirrors, Hamilton was directly behind him. Hamilton only moved after Button looked forward again.I know. Did you see Button clearly look at his mirror on the left hand side before moving onto the "racing line"? I'm not saying he saw him, I'm saying that if any blame is apportioned it shouldn't go to Hamilton.

Because he had balls.
If they penalize his finishing position that's absolute BS.
An excellent race and i'm pretty shocked than Jenson managed to win it after so many pitstops. His last 5-10 laps were exceptional. He truely deserved the win. Who knows, we could have ended up with a Mclaren 1-2 if hamilton had not been instructed to park the car and retire, he could've swapped tyres and went to the end like Button.
Lewis' car had a broken upright or driveshaft, it wouldn't have finished the race anyway.
On another note, Vettel's body language after the race said a lot, he knew it was his to lose. Loved the look on his face when Webber said something like "Yeah we finished where we deserved to be."![]()

Vettel on that final lap before the mistake was phenomenal to watch. I've never seen someone take a corner as raggedly fast as he did that first chicane on lap 70.
Awesome drive by Button.
I hope Hamilton can learn today that he's got all race to make moves, him and Button would've creamed them today. He was clearly faster and braking later, getting past button and Webber would've been coming.
Reminds me of Monza where very early on Hamilton just drove into Massa and effectively shot any hopes of last season being far too hasty.
Hamilton pass on Button I'll give you he should have passed on the other side. I wont give you the Webber one he wasn't being eager, he saw that there was room went for it has a bit of curb hop with wet conditions and slid into Mark. He wasn't trying to hurry and that is why it's a race incident. I'm tired of people trying to frame him up like it was two weeks ago all over again.

Hamilton vs Webber. Clumsy but a racing incident. Hamilton's fault.
Hamilton vs Button. Racing incident. Button's fault if anyones.
So yes, something needs to be done doesn't it?![]()
But the spotlight is on him after Monaco, that's just the way it is.
I don't think his driving was nearly as aggressive here. He was side by side with Webber as they entered the braking zone, it wasn't like the move on Maldonado at Monaco, it was a fair attempt at a pass (Though I reckon he could have got punished for it as it put Webber at a big disadvantage through no fault of his own). His move on Button... Well that's the sort of accident these conditions cause. And that is exactly what it was, an accident.
I'll give Hamilton something though, he was very calm in his interview afterwards (Though subtley avoided claiming responsibility for either incident). Let's hope he keeps it up and doesn't just behave when he has had the risk of a race ban bearing down on him.

Question: During one of their race flashbacks (on COX; sorry) they showed a clip of Michael being smashed from behind and then absolutely raging afterward. Who was he raging at? I can't remember...
Actually, When Button looked in his mirrors, Hamilton was behind him. Button took the racing line and any chances he had of seeing Hamilton were greatly decreased by the spray. As seen in Le Mans last night, it's up to the overtaking car to ensure that the manouver is safe. Hamilton could easily have lifted when he saw Button wasn't going to give the position up. He didn't. He expects people to move out of his way.
If he continues putting people in difficult positions the way he has been doing, then it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed. I don't like him for this very reason. He thinks he is bigger than F1 itself and doesn't play by the rules. He is a dirty driver. He is an accident waiting to happen and something's got to be done about him. He has to calm down and re-learn what battles to pick and when or someone will get hurt.
If he can't do this, he should be banned. He's starting to look like an amateur crashaholic. F1 rejects awarded him the reject of the race at Monaco. I'm sure they'll do the same here. You can flame me all you want, but he is dangerous. The past two races he's looked like a complete amateur with multiple accidents where he was either solely to blame or at least had to accept 50% of the blame. You can whine and call it racing incidents all you want, but as far as I'm concerned, there have been too many involving the same person to call them racing incidents.
Coulthard, Spa 1998.
Coulthard was as far off the racing line as he could get, but Michael insisted it was Coulthard's fault.![]()
I don't know...the way I'm reading it it does sound like Coulthard's fault. Of course I didn't see the race (unfortunately) so fill me in a bit.
Sounds like Jarno and Heikki from '09, I think it was.
