Most of today's drivers don't know how to drive on rain - bcs of FIA

That's a really specific issue for both of the top 2 drivers to suffer it simultaneously

Edit: more like half the field

Max and Lewis having issues

Race hasn't even started and Max has a 30s lead 😂

What on earth?

Absolute shambles all around.

Ooft, shambolic formation lap(s) - but at least Lewis is back in business and hopefully won't lose his grid slot.

A bit concerning for Max as well...

Safety car was briefly the best midfield runner.

One of the most bizarre scenes I've seen Motorsport..

Imagine if the cars that had issues couldn't restart?

So now the rain is impacting the engine's software?? Surely that should tell them that those cars are getting way too complicated 🙄

Seems because there is no MGU-H it cant keep the turbo spooled when the drivers are off throttle for longer periods.

Seems the FIA is using their heads, Starting positions are going to be off qualified positions and not the rules based on drivers falling to the back during the formation lap starting at the back

They need to get on with this, we’re running out of daylight

Ladies and gentlemen - the pinnacle of motorsports.

Surely the starting order will be reverted back to original grid positions?

Fortunately they have just confirmed that they will start with the original grid positions.

On the upside, I feel like I know each and every person in the crowd already.

Why am I up for this nonsense?

AI? Are we being serious. What a joke.

Sat around waiting for so long, we might get a dry track. After all that...

What ever happened to the mud flap concept?
It couldnt work on ground effect cars, since we no longer use those cars why is this concept not being looked into again

I remember when rain races were something you looked forward to. They were exciting. Now I dread them, because I know that as soon as it rains, something like this will happen.

A little bit of rain and Formula 1 just collapses. It’s been like this for years, and they really, really, really need to fix it.

This delay is not because of spray, it's because of some kind of software issue in the cars.
The initial delay was because it was so wet that even the medical car was sliding all over the track

Talking in general.
The idea of mudflaps was to reduce spray when racing in the wet, the concept failed because ground effect threw up so much water.

Now that ground effect is no more, this idea should be looked into again.

Race to start in 10minutes.

Sure. The ground effect is part of what made the spray so bad in the first place though. So I'm not sure of it's even that much of an issue anymore with these cars.

I was looking forward to some wet racing or mixed conditions but they wasted so much time, this might as well be dry now! Also was looking to watch this in peace and quiet but now my toddler will be up any minute 😭
