Formula 1 moves on to Silverstone for its next round after George Russell took his second win of the season in Austria to reignite his title campaign. The Briton moves onto his home race - one he has never won. The circuit has had a few changes, kerbs look like they're being painted red rather than black and there is the addition of the massive new Landostand at Stowe for the defending champion and race winner. All of which for a race which is forecast to break the record for number of spectators at a Formula 1 race (520,000 at Adelaide 1995) with 565,000 predicted over the four days. The high-speed nature of this circuit is likely to show off the worst of the 2026 regulations sadly with only 3 major braking points for recharging the battery, but this is the first track like this since Melbourne and Suzuka - before the regulation changes in the war break - so there is hope. This track hosts a Sprint Race for the first time since 2021's first ever Sprint Weekend, so there's that I guess. Two qualifying sessions for F1 to try and work out how it wants to move forward with treating Yellow Flags in qualifying. Let's get excited for the BRITISH GRAND PRIX!

It looks pretty cool, but it doesn't really stand out with all the white.
I get that it's based on an old McLaren livery, but it's so old (and not particularly "legendary") that it just doesn't look like a McLaren.

I do like the pearl effect on the white.

Williams are also running a special British GP livery as well, apparently.

Union Jack special, is the Union Jack in the room with us?

EDIT: Also Cadillac:

Hamilton quickest in the only practice session of the weekend.

Don't give us that hope Ferrari.

Can the chassis overcome the super clipping? Did I hear Zak say they dont have the latest spec Merc PU?

Sunny Silverstone is just wrong. A Grand Prix is not truly British if there's no rain ☔

Come on Lewis 🏎️

Lewis is giving the kind of hope that we don't need right now.

One session at a time...

He is my driver of choice this weekend so I'm backing him 100%...so far, he has not disappoint. It always feels right to see him on the podium and/or winning the British GP at Silverstone so...let's go Lewis! Hopefully the car is good for the race as well.

For people who have been there from the beginning, (I got into F1 because of him) it would be a heck of a thing.

Get in there Lewis!

That's correct, but only because they haven't put enough mileage on their existing units to put them at the end of their usable life. You can't swap them over during practice to race sessions because the data you'd use race strategy (instead of using an RNG like Ferrari do) wouldn't be the same.

After Ferrari's mediocre Red Bull Ring, I didn't expect Lewis nailing P1 for the Sprint. Wow. 😮

Especially since they were downplaying their chances there too. Lewis made it sound like they were going to fight for P7 and P8 just ahead of the RB. I guess pleasant surprise for them and for us too!

Wait, Ferrari fixed max. speed for a one week?
I would love to hear that.

Silverstone gonna be as intense as always like in Austria.

Yeh, it doesn't work at all for me - doesn't look special at all, and looks terrible and boring from the side. I suppose it's yet another livery for collectors to add - my McLaren collection is all 1:43 Minichamps models, but I doubt I'll be bothering with this one 😅

Rooting for an LH win this weekend as well.

Sprint race live at 12pm on both Sky One and Channel 4 HD - no brainer to watch it on C4HD, as Sky refuse to show HD content free to air, and it looks awful. Great that it is free to air in HD on C4 though.

Can’t see how people dislike this circuit. Love this circuit since I first watched F1 and BTCC in the 1990s.

Thought Lewis had that, with all the fighting behind him early on. Kimi did well. Nice job by Lando. 😐👍

Sadly, but from seen from Sprint race, I think it could be Mercedes 1-2 in tomorrow race.

If it goes on like this I think this might be an interesting race tomorrow. Still hoping for a Lewis win because I think it will likely be between him and Kimi again tomorrow. Hopefully Ferrari can figure something out to help them in the race. Kimi had pace but I don't think the same can be said for Russell as Charles was staying with him.

Also was Norris having tire issues already within those 17 laps? If so, he will struggle tomorrow. Red Bull seems to be the 4th best team in this top 10 group. After all the fighting, it just seemed like Max got dropped.
