The "computer" is taking the fall for the safety call message it seems.
The stupid old lapped drivers situation.Even if the message was in error, why couldn't they continue? The track looked entirely clear with 2 laps to go.
An FIA statement:
"The Safety Car period regulation, Article B5. 13.5, states that one lap must be completed following the unlapping procedure.
" This process was followed by Race Operations. The 'Safety Car In This Lap' message was displayed erroneously due to a software error."
Masi clearly thought soThe stupid old lapped drivers situation.
Nah. 1 lap penalty for FIA software.Five second penalty for FIA software?
They meant to give it to Ocon.Five second penalty for FIA software?
What kind of "bomb"?Some reliable sources on Twitter imply a bomb is about to drop.
What kind of "bomb"?
Not F1 related. It was about Scott Dixon going to Arrow McLaren, which was already all but confirmed before the weekend. No idea, but surely F1 related.
Thomas Maher and Will Buxton are teasing something big.

This is likely something dodgy on the Silverstone race director computer setup after last year NOT showing the 'Safety Car In This Lap' message early and having the safety car lights turned off halfway down Hangar straight when the leaders behind the car were already building speed to catch the safety car.. thus causing a likely unsafe situation and a penalty applicable to the driver leading. Seems that stitch-up might have screwed the majority of fans year...An FIA statement:

According to Thomas Maher, Verstappen and McLaren are in the final stages of negotiations. I find that hard to believe but stranger things have happened.Thomas’s tweet has #f1 in it. I doubt this is what he was referring to.
EDIT: I think Thomas and Will were teasing different things.

One thing about McLaren though is that it can lead to a seat in the wec, I think that would be a very attractive option for Verstappen.
My impression is that it's a seat swap between Piastri and Verstappen, but who knows. That would be absolutely insane. A swap with Piastri or what?
I think Ford has already got that wrapped up for him. They've had contact with him for a couple years now, it's just scheduling according to them.According to Thomas Maher, Verstappen and McLaren are in the final stages of negotiations. I find that hard to believe but stranger things have happened.

I'm going to join myself. I keep forgetting about it. That team that puts these things together is just brilliant. Anyone that follows F1 needs to subscribe to their channel. The running gags they have for certain drivers are hilarious. Each time I see George shown on tv outside of his car I immediately think, "bliiimey" or "holy moly".A bit late reply, but My name is on Patreon list at the end credits.![]()
This is absolutely hilarious. I can't remember a car being this much trash for a long time...
