After a year off as the Nation hosted the Men's FIFA World Cup, Qatar returns for its second Grand Prix, back at Losail - which is looking like a much more permanent fixture on the calendar than the initial plan for a street circuit. The layout was praised by drivers previously for its incredible flow and high-speed sections making it a joy to drive. Max Verstappen was back on form in Japan, smoking the competition to take another dominant victory. At this Sprint Weekend, he can win the Driver's title already by outscoring Perez by 3 points in the Sprint on Saturday. It would be an amazing achievement to win it so early, so let's see what happens at the QATAR GRAND PRIX!

Wow, the track really HAS been redeveloped for the future. This seems like a much more permanent facility for the future than the initial plans for the F1 tenure in Qatar.

It's going to be a WEC venue next year too. Fingers crossed these changes don't ruin the track for the MotoGP events that have been here since the circuit's beginning.

New track surface so hopefully they have done a good job and makes the field closer together. Apparently going on kerbs and off track could be more of a floor destroyer this year so could throw a spanner in the works at any moment. Going to put a lot of pressure on teams to get the setup right in one practice session. Hopefully McLaren can challenge Red Bull more at this type of circuit, would be great to see Lando get his first win this year. Will AlphaTauri finally score some decent points, they currently seem to have a car that should be able to challenge P6 team in constructors regarding performance but are still P10.

Looks like it is going to be very hot this weekend so will be a good test to see which car keeps most performance while surviving as they open up the cars for maximum cooling.

Lawson, Magnussen, Zhou, Stroll and Sargeant eliminated in Q1.

Yeah, I don't care how upset Stroll is at his own inability to drive or whatever the hell went wrong, but appearing to shove his personal trainer is a good way to never have anyone sympathize with you again.

I would have shoved him back and immediately been sacked, but that's just me.

Just got sent a link to Stroll's 30 second "interview", granted it's the usual bland questioning that he's probably had to answer 3 dozen times before but it's clear as day Stroll has either snapped or someone snapped his contract for next season in half after Suzuka.

Probably both.

Great lap from Russell to put that car in 2nd. 4 driver being investigated for stopping in pit lane, the same offence that Verstappen didn't get penalized for. FIA are a joke, constantly tweaking obvious infringements race by race because they're too inept to lay them down pre season. When you let one team get away with it, it sets a precedence which other teams follow.

Pirelli carry out an analysis of the tyres which have been used for approximately 20 laps to check various safety parameters after practice on Friday of every race weekend.

In Qatar, that analysis revealed “a separation in the sidewall between the topping compound and the carcass cords on many of tyres that were checked”.

The FIA and Pirelli believe “a significant number of additional laps on these tyres could result in circumferential damage of the tyres with subsequent air loss, and tyres analysed with lower lap numbers showed a much-reduced extent of the issue

The FIA needs to do something about Stroll's assault committed in the garage. His action was criminal, at best.

Unless there's a clearer angle it's just too ambiguous. If it's clearer then he will probably get a similar punishment to what Verstappen got for pushing Ocon.

Just saw that interview. I'd say that he knows it already.
