A podium next week is enough for Lando. P4 and Max P1 would give it to Max by 1 point.

Hard race to watch.

Red Bull got it right.

McLaren got it wrong.

Sainz got it perfect. Nice podium.
 
Any tie next week will go to Norris. A tie between Verstappen and Piastri will go to Max.

I don't think Max and Oscar can tie for the win. Only way they tie is with Lando in front of them.
 
VER is the bogey with a win next and 421 pts, NOR then only needs 14 to get to 422 so a P3 next week.
 
So Oscar can still be champ if he wins and Lando finishes 6th or worse, or 2nd and Lando finishes 10th or worse and Max doesn’t win.

Max has a few more possibilities.

Basically needs a poor result for Lando either way. He’s still in the box seat.

They can.
Piastri 8th, Max and Norris out of the points.
 
If Max takes it next week it would be half that he fought to get there and half that McLaren couldn't pick a driver to prioritize and thus lost with both.
 
If Max in on course to win the race next week and Oscar is ahead of Lando on track we might get the ultimate edition of the Papaya Rules.

That would be simply lovely :lol:

McLaren giving Verstappen maximum flexibility.
 
As a McLaren fan this was horrible to watch.

On a side note from the race itself this circuit has gota be one the worse on the calendar apart from Monaco, mandatory stops as tyres dont last, only one overtaking opportunity in a whole lap, circuit layout makes it hard for cars to follow others and it all looks the same on TV.

Also I miss Brazil or Japan as the final race. The unpredictability of weather affecting the championship is sorely missed. Having the last 2 races of the season in countries where it never rains makes no sense to me.
 
The way McLaren have bungled what should have been a clear 1-2 in the WDC is beyond laughable now. They’ve tied themselves up in knots. How can they keep messing this up?

Still think Norris should get at least the third place needed in Abu Dhabi, but…
