I was doing an extended session at Fuji GT last night in the FGT. For me anyway, setting the LSD relatively high (I think I used something like 35-50-25?), dialing up the downforce, dialing back the brakes (5/3 was what I used) and softening both front and rear springs to I'd say 14s, low 15s made it controllable, but even then it's a nervous car. This is all aids full off except ABS was set to 1. It's definitely not one of those cars you can just jump in and be fast.
Never been a fan of the F1 cars in GT games so I used SRF for this one as I didn't want to ahve to run it ever again... the car is really easy to drive with SRF, sorts out all the stupid brake/lift off oversteer 👍
I haven't tried different driver aids, however I tried a couple of things in an endurance. To make it more drivable, try putting racing softs on the rear and racing hards on the front. Sounds odd, but the main problem with this car is the amount of oversteer, so lessening the grip at the front this way balances the car out. This is easier than playing around with suspension / Downforce settings
Yeah, I've had no luck either, friend. I did the first race, mind you it was a controller. My wheel died. But I participated in the first race, spun out , then proceeded out the little red door. That's the last I've ever seen/tried that race

I had no luck for a couple of rounds until I got the traction control set right. I use 2 for the hi speed tracks and 3 for Cote d'Azur. Requires lots of driving but gives lots of acceleration. Managed to gold all except Cote d'Azur (second) and Suzuka (gave up after 3 hours playing).
Unfortunately you are probably new to the series, veterans have spent time in the F1 cars of GT3 and GT4 which have given us plently of practice, spend time doing the dream car championship for good practice, lap times to aim for;
Indy - 0:39:00 to 0:41:00
Monza - 1:19:00 to 1:26:00
Tokyo - 1:12:00 to 1:16:00
Sarthe - 2:50:00 to 3:10:00
dont bother with nurburgring, once you are near or within these times, you have got the hang of the FGT, make sure it has engine overhauled and body restored before you try the championship
I have won all 6 races a-spec and b-spec first try, oh and the computers fall apart in the rain, so dont be put off
