Hmmm interesting since here in Belgium the payed TV Sport channel that broadcasted it costed about 20 EUR per month and I didn’t use it for much else than F1.

For about 10 EUR/month F1 coverage and behind the scenes interviews I might reconsider not abandoning F1 all together.

This is a good package and great for F1 fans. I just dont care enough anymore. I still have F1 in my blood but i think its now pretty wack.

This is brilliant news, no more overpriced NowTV costs, and no messing around with dodgy (and rubbish quality) online streaming sites.

I am not a massive fan of F1, but it is my second favourite race series (after SuperGT) and I do follow with keen interest.

Great pricing and options for fans, hope the desktop app will support linux, or that it is accessible via a web browser.

Indeed they have. It was mentioned in the original draft but perhaps I mistakenly deleted it. Anyway:

F1 TV will be made available in four different languages (English, French, German and Spanish) and will appear in nearly two dozen markets at launch (including Germany, France, USA, Mexico, Belgium, Austria, Hungary and much of Latin America).

Sky’s contract with F1 will have to expire before UK peeps can get this legitimately I think. Anyone on sky broadband or BT will have the addresses blocked.

It all seems like a great idea, if you have no other options to watch it, for me, Sky sports F1 is free as I’m a legacy customer so I pay nothing for excellent coverage, for new peeps maybe not.

Cool.. will see how they do with it. Streaming normally has some growing pains. Nothing I would pay for until the Roku/FireTV apps are available.

Since TV can now be had on and off with no contracts, (VUE, SlingTV and YoutubeTV).. when there is nothing on except for F1, I can cancel VUE and save $30/month for a month or two.

I don't think it will be limited, or will have any effect at all. Since 2014, at least in Denmark, we have had our TV broadcast channel providing an Online feature called Viaplay, that has the same ability and features like this. You pay for one month or for one year, then you can watch F1without being interrupted by advertising. This may be new from F1 themselves, but Viaplay came first.

As much as I hope that's the case.. but Sky in the UK have a tendency to block out all other options when it encroaches on a licence they hold...

Yes Sky in NZ are a major roadblock as well (they annoyed me no end when New Zealand was the only country in the world who couldn't get the 2018 Bathurst 24 hour for free, either free to air tv or the YouTube stream, thanks to sky's rights)

But on the bright side I see this as the beginning of the end of their strangle hold on sporting events, and when they lose that they will finally die. So there is a silver lining.

Would be interesting for me. Because of my job I cant watch F1 live. Would be great to Just watch the whole race in my own time and even onboard cam! Hopefully this feature isn’t just for live events but also available 24/7! I’d pay for that.

I gave up caring about F1 quite a while ago, but the deal we're now getting in the UK is a joke. It's anecdotal, but the decline I know in casual viewers since we lost the GP's being available to anyone with a TV license has been noticable. I'm sure the moneymakers involved will still be making the money - and will therefore still think they're doing the right thing, but I think the number of fans actually watching it here must be dwindling.

In the USA the viewing options up to this point (without cable tv) are nearly non-existent, just a handful of races are on over the air channels, and some of those aren't live.

While it sounds good at first, I simply don't watch races live. Now, if there is an option to watch them delayed (say a week-long window after the race) then I'd be interested. I don't know about $10 a month, but maybe if I was watching them with my dad I'd bother.

They stated VPN access would be blocked. I am sure there will still be ways around it. Also, being a US F1 fan is rough when it comes to good event coverage. Adding in the support series makes getting this a no-brainer for me.

And cost way more that what was announced in some countries. 170 € /yr for me

No change to the price here in the USA. I'm not surprised it's delayed, 6 months is not much time to roll this out, but it's a shame regardless, I was looking forward to it. Looks like I'll pay for the mobile app for a month (or many) so I can have a clue what's happening.

If it works well..... $100 for a full season with other support races included is not bad. Some months out of the year, I am only paying for PS VUE (now $40 a month) to get access to watch races easily and legally at 60FPS. So if I can cancel VUE for 3 months it is paid for.

Still not going to try it until it is flushed out and working solid though. Maybe next year.

I just found out I may not be able to watch the practice because my VUE package only has ESPN 1 and ESPN 2.. not ESPN News. Gah.. I hope the login works on the app.

Edit - Never mind.. I just did a test with my credentials on ESPN.com and it shows I will have access on the app.

Thats poor, plenty of people have hung out to dry. Also, strong rumours in Melbourne that there will be music on the warm up lap and race start. If its true then what an awful start to the season.

Yeah over 21 races plus the support stuff it's not a bad price at all. i'll probably get it once they get it out and get the kinks out of it.

The very high price in France (twice as much as the second country with higher price) may be a clue as to why UK doesn't have the service, since the paid terrestrial/cable broadcast rights are even higher in UK.

The Australian prices are incredibly good. Currently the Pay TV network that has all races except the AGP, is $50 a month for the sports channels added on.

Regarding the cost for the 'Pro' portion of the service- do people understand this isn't just a TV broadcast? You are getting an unprecedented ability to view the race from multiple in-car cameras, if done right it will be the ultimate way to watch a race. Withe racing, unlike other sports, all the action doesn't take place on a field right in front of everyone. The traditional way of watching racing is extremely limited, you view one battle at a time and can't even see your team or driver if they don't happen to be on camera at the time. Lower budget teams toward the back get little camera time. This service will change all that, and allow me to watch who I want for much of the race. I'd gladly pay $100 for a season of that.
