V8 Superstars is a game that deals in only one series (and in my opinion very badly), both GT5 and Forza series are not that type of game. Even games like Race Pro didn't offer the actual real WTCC championship sadly.
I'd love to have ToCa games again with full BTCC season, buit it's not likely to ever happen again.
I loved ToCa race driver 3 as you could arrange full championships and namely V8 oZ SUPERCARS.

So yeah for me GT and FM are what they are, sandbox games for car lovers and petrolheads ........

Theres a few games out there that cater for one series and one fan base (Superbike games by black bean(??)) and WRC games and V8 superstars, but they are the exception to the rule.

Quite happy for GT and FM to just continue to develop but not too fussed if we never get a stand alone championship within them for one series...i mean which one could they even pick?

BTW EVEN SHIFT 2 DIDNT PROVIDE ACTUAL championship even though had license to GT3-GT1......

It wouldn't have to be a fully licensed championship. Again, that wasn't really my point. I'm thinking more along the lines of custom championships, either one model of car or one class. That would be fine.

Besides, Forza has enough ALMS cars and enough US tracks to do a pseudo official championship there. Same with the Super GT cars.

Just give me something meaningful to do with these cars rather than hot-lapping and short sprint races. Turn 10 even removed the endurance races which I used to enjoy.

online race > create race > add 12 AI> problem solved.
To be accurate, Xbox Live Gold > Online Race > Create Race > Add 12 AI > Problem Solved.

I don't understand why we have to pay a subscription fee to access rather basic race options.

I have to say its a fee of £40 for year.

83p per week............

for the best (arguably) online console experience.....

well worth it IMO.....

Back on topic, these are sandbox driving games, they give you the basics to get stuck into, but also the tools (in Forzas case it does this much better) whereby with a bit of imagination you can do pretty much anything.

You could feasibly race the AI online mode and on a spread sheet work out the points etc for a championship......
They are such vast games theres stuff that the makers have to leave to the player to do sadly, but then if they went down the route of V8 Superstars (a terrible game ) a game in which the makers only had to model 20 odd cars (badly) then that game is incomparable with Forza or GT.......

I like they way they are in this respect thanks......

to start saying theres too much in these games, you lose the whole point of why they exsisted in first place!

They arent meant to be what your asking of them!

This is interesting.

To help out with framerate drops in GT5 some tracks seem to have been gutted (and it is the only word I can use) of spectators, flags, etc.

Erm...How didn't you notice that that site used 2 different gaming modes?

The clue should have been a 16 car field and a 12 car field in the comparison. Arcade has always had a sparse London track to cater for 16 cars. London with 12 cars still has the spectators etc in 2.03.

Whats even stranger is that you then start implying its bad coding. Funny that I can't see you say the same thing when Forza dumbs down the cars when there are more cars on track. As both are games about cars, I can imagine that most people would rather crowds took the hit instead of the cars.

Sorry but for a mod to imply such things based on ropey information they are posting, isn't the wisest course of action

You signed up just to say that? And seeing as the only other comment Scaff has made about this is to say he was on the fence about who is to blame then I'm not sure where you get the bad coding accusation from.

And I'd take a bit of dumbing down to ensure an almost perfectly consistent 60 fps with no tearing every day of the week.

I posted it as an interesting discussion point and most certainly didn't imply it was a result of bad coding at all.

Attributing comments people didn't make to them isn't the wisest course of action for a new member, nor is telling anyone what they can and can't post.

I just got another round of dlc for both forza and GT. I must say that I really think that GT has to step its game up, a track with a 12Km straight, come on....
I think that the only two things that forza is missing is the ability to transfer photos straight to a flash drive and use my own music. But it still has it over GT. I have been a long time GT fan owning every game. I think that it is stale. And I just cant stop playing forza. As much as I would like GT to be the king of racers that it could have been I just keep thinking that they are staring to lag behind. Any way thats my rant for the day.

Can you transfer photos to a flash drive in GT5? Or any game on consoles for that matter? I never knew you could.

Also, cant you play your own music through the Xbox media console?

With GT5 you can send photos straight to your HD, then from there you can put it on whatever you want. As for the xbox, im pretty sure you can play music on any game.

You know, I sold GT5....but I still have GT5P.

Man, it will bring memories back, playing GT5P. Memories of when GT was a series you could count on, a series of a great quality...back when we were convinced that GT5 was gonna be a revolution in sim gaming.

GT5P was tiny compared to GT5...but it was of such more consistent quality. I loved that little game. And it frustrates me--why can't GT5 be this good, dammit!?

Well i made the mistake the other night of giving 'rivals' some of my time (ive pretty much avoided it up till now).........................

What a mistake.......be careful.....'rivals' makes Heroin look like something you could use just at weekends.................its too addictive....

This game, for me, just has so much....life to it...thats all i can explain it as...

So much to do, so much interaction within the game...its just awesome.

Just to add, i just thought about this a little more and it hit me....

Forza for me feels like when i play it, its a game designed for me, its there with my paints, my photos.
Its like my little world.
You get the sense no two people are playing it the same.

I never got that feeling in GT5, whether it was the game breaking standard cars with no in car views (i must for me im afraid, without that it may as well be ridge racer or outrun)
Its lacking something.....lacking a soul i supose...... no, its lacking....a GAME.....which at the end of the day, its supposed to be.

I'm with you on this one. GT5P was a good game. I reckon it's odds on that I've actually spent more time playing GT5P than I have GT5.

Of course, GT5P doesn't really compare well to FM4 or any other game because it was so feature light. But by damn, what it did it did WELL.

You can (as with all 360 games), just pop up the Guide, and then under the media section, you can choose music from a USB stick, or uPNP server on your network etc, and play any music you want..

Edit :

I'm with you on that. GT5 aint got nothing on FM4. I'm just cant stop playing. Too be honest the first time i played FM2 i was sold. I will play this series 50 years from now. It's that good.

It's the small things like hopping in whatever car you want and there is a race for that car wether it be spec or tuned versions of that car. No going back and forth too check if your PP level is sufficient for that particuler race. The ability too paint every car (except the Sesto Elemento) whenever and whatever color i can come up with. Driving feel in FM is unmatched wheter it be via controller or steering wheel setup. In Gt5 i cant 'feel' when my car is losing grip or struggling too get traction. In FM i even feel the brutal torque of the engines of cars. Not too mention sound and the buttersmooth framerate. I will say it again for me gt5 doesn't hold candle in the wind against it's main competitor.

Just saying :sly:

Given that he had already said that it was his opinion I do have to wonder if your presence here at Forza Planet is only to try and start arguments?

You don't respond to any form of testing request and disappear for days at a time when your asked a question you don't want to answer, only to then appear with nonsense like this.

Either start contributing in a meaningful manner or your presence here will be dealt within the manner reserved for one who is only around to cause trouble.

No offense, but last I checked, opinions are biased, and yours is (from what I've seen from you) biased towards GT.

Edit: As far as playing with a pad goes, I feel more comfortable playing Forza with a pad than I do GT, but then again, I've played Forza with a pad more often than I have GT (as I usually try to play with my DFGT), so perhaps that's why. As such, I've set up my DS3 with Forza-esque controls (and have also had the additional functions assigned to the extra buttons). In regards to a default control mapping, Forza just is better for pads then GT is (in my honest opinion).

I couldn't agree more. I loved gt5 prologue. Those last few races were so challenging yet fun. Forza needs similar challenges where you aren't allowed to ram the ai. of course playing on live is better than any ai.

In gt5 I hated the camera shake in the in car view so much that I haven't touched it since I got to the higher level cars where the added the shake.

Just thought I would add that I have been playing a lot of GT5 lately and its only reinforced my thoughts that Forza is the better all round experience. Here's hoping that Polyphony will come back stronger with GT6 pushing Turn 10 even harder, this can only be a good thing for us racing game fans :)

That is my stand also. Both have pros and cons, but from a customer point of view is great to see that both games are evolving and pushing each other forward.

I'm glad that Turn10 didn't just "mail it in" because , honestly, in my opinion there really wasn't much there to GT5 to push anything. I posted this elsewhere, PD ticked me off on many levels. One being that they really didn't give Turn10 any serious "comp" where they would feel the need to "push" themselves. Any other dev could have easily mailed it in on this one.

Agreed, competition is a good thing. It seems like in the past, Polyphony has been a little too proud. Kind of a "we do whatever we want and you'll still buy it" attitude. Didn't Kaz say something like he hasn't played forza? What kind of business model is that??? You should study the competition and build on their weakness and emulate their strengths. He should not only know forza but he should know every single racing sim out there. This may sound like heresy to some fanboys, but I'd even purchase Turn 10's uncompressed audio recordings of whatever vehicles they needed. If you could cut the time and expenditure by 50%-75% while improving your end product, who cares who recorded it?

I think history has proven that just because someone innovates and developes an amazing new product, that doesn't necessarily make him/her a good CEO.
You can have any color you want, as long as it's black. - Henry Ford

How am i biased when i own both consoles and games? Played them both excessivly so i what i'm talking about. I guess you didn't get the memo... try harder will ya 👍

Agreed Gt5 has almost everything in place too be an awesome mindblowingly good game. but it's just not finished or polished. The Ui is still a thing of nightmares.

Why are you guys even bothering with him? I mean, it's becoming more appearent that he's only out to cause trouble by the day, so why bite?

Anyways, I just wanted too throw in that I kinda applaud T10 for the February DLC pack. I, so far, enjoyed the DLC quite a bit, anyways, but it feels like every pack is getting better and better. The cars that have been added via DLC have been quitte decent throughout, even if there were some filler cars here and there. and, most importantly, a lot of cars that have been requested a lot. This is probably what I like tthe best about it: We're getting what the community has been asking for.

Now, I don't necessarily agree with what the most demanded cars are, but it's a good sign, anyways, I'd say.

That said, PD seems to have stepped their game up considerably in that regard, and as far as track DLC goes, they're still ahead of T10, but overall, I'd say that it's too little, too late.

Quite decent seems like an understatement to me:lol: These DLC packs are awesome. Couldn't have said it better Luminis, these guys really know what a carlover wants.

Except that's not happening. Gt has so many fanboys that blindly worship it that PD can pump out any crap game and it will sell 4-Million+ copies.

They have no reason to improve. Not as long as they can pump out a half-finished game and still sell 5-million+ copies of it.

Yeah, that's what I've been saying for a while. If there's a drop-off in GT sales in the near future, it's probably going to be caused by Sony doing some dumb stuff with the PS4. Other wise, it's going to sell well for at least one or two more iterations, regardless of its quality.
