A little big of trivia: the six-cylinder engines in Aston Martins from the 1940s to the 1960s were designed by W.O. Bentley. Yes, the same Bentley who started his own car company. When Rolls-Royce bought the Bentley company in 1936, W.O. Bentley left after signing a non-compete agreement. He went to work at Lagonda as chief engineer where he designed a superb inline-6. David Brown bought Aston Martin after the war (the DB in Aston Martin names refers to his initials) but Aston was stuck with a 30 year old 4-cylinder engine. So Brown bought Lagonda to get that Bentley-designed six-cyliner engine. That's why the company was called Aston Martin Lagonda for so many years.
