Yes, I've taken all of the roads that go out of area until I've been reset, and all my roads have turned white. I discovered the tunnel under Castelletto. I've driven to the end of the pier. I'm sure it's something obvious I'm missing and I'll find it completely by accident soon. Also, I'm up to 19/29 signs now. A lot of them really are in the middle of nowhere.

For those that haven't seen them, there are two types of signs. One for leveling up, and one for discounts on fast travel.

Quick notes: the car audio still sounds turned down like in FM5. In FM4, I remember a fully modded ZR1 producing a throaty idling sound at a minimum volume. In FH1, it produced that same sound, but I had to turn the volume up to have same level of sound. To make things more annoying, even with the volume settings set to favor the car, the music still sounds like it takes priority. I'll have to go back through the Huracan challenge as it sounded like they implemented more of the growl letting off the gas (which is good since T10 started applying this sound to more cars in FM5), but the music drowned it out. I don't even really remember the Koenigsegg making a sound, either again due to being entranced by the music.

It feels like for every pedestrian AI car, there's 2 Horizon cars which feels extremely unnatural. More so because then it feels like a ghost town when you run into 2-3 Horizon cars & the occasional pedestrian. This wasn't the case in FH1 where the area felt very alive with plenty of traffic to throw in a challenge. And it doesn't help encountering 2-3 Bowlers/Raptors that are identical. With this, it feels completely bizarre to see a P1 stop & just drive off into the field with no preset road. I get the gist that we can go anywhere with any car, but this is completely out there and lets the Horizon AI just come & go, in and out of your way as they please. I want to say I'm on the fence about the map, but I can't because I'm simply not accustomed to the climate the game is in compared to the US. It will take some getting used to & exploring more of it, though I can tell there are already roads that should feel really fun to rip through in the exotics.

The graphics are superb, & I feel they really shine in the cockpit view. Everything feels a lot more fluid & stunning looking out through the Huracan's dash as you race up through the twisty roads. With that, the handling feels fantastic. It feels closer to sim than FH1 did & one can notice the change in grip from the dirt & wet roads.

The demo doesn't completely wow me like FH1 did, but it was still enough to wet my appetite and not regret pre-ordering with VIP which was its purpose.

Unless I'm missing something this was the case with the FH1 demo as well. It won't be the case with the full game so you can't really judge things from this limited taster.

Unless I'm missing something else though I can't find any way to save my progress so every time I start the demo I have to find those forty-one roads from scratch. If this is the case the demo's replay opportunities are kind of limited. Of course this was the case with the original game's demo as well.

Forza looks amazing, but don't take my words for it and feel free to look at those pictures :)

Well, there is still the 30FPS advantage for Horizon. So we could see another Motorsport without weather in my opinion :(

So I checked out the shots, they do look good. However, the headlight beams still look unimpressive - from the looks of it, you can barely see 10-15 feet ahead! Same problem plagued H1, and made night driving a chore. Why can't these guys have an option to switch between hi/low beams? Would it really suck the hardware dry to implement that?! Something tells me the X1 is really going to struggle to deliver that next-gen experience this time around.

The fans are already mad it wasn't in F5. That's why many of them didn't buy it at launch. :D
If F6 doesn't have weather or night racing, I, again, wont buy it at launch. On the other hand I wouldn't classify myself as a fanboy either, otherwise, I would have bought it at launch. Its also why I never even purchased the first Horizon. I only rented it. ;)

BTW this is looking beautiful especially with the weather. I noticed the rain on the windshield even changes direction depending on which way you turn. Cant remember if other racing games did this with weather yet. This also reminds me, I need to pre-order Horizon 2 asap.

Neither would I. If I were, I'd do everything I could to buy an X1 and just rush out to get both FM5 and H2. But I'll wait and see how T10 plays their cards with FM6. Then I will decide.

Won't happen but I'd love to see a dedicated Forza off roads rally sim.

With only one car on track, 60fps plus weather would be a reasonable choice.

Horizon is a great looker but the physics are not Forza 5 level from what I have played. Not that it's a problem. Horizon and motor sport offer two distinct experiences for car fans.

Weather isn't a deal breaker for me. It would be great for a 24 hours Le Mann race tho.

A proper Forza rally game at 60 fps.... that is a grand idea my friend! A dedicated dirt and tarmac rally game would really strike a chord with a lot of gamers. Again, assists and difficulty settings would ensure the game is welcomed in all niches. Though I would imagine their hands would be quite full, already being at the helm of two titles. Well, FM anyway, though I'm sure Dan and that other guy get together over coffee every now and then, just to make sure Horizon doesn't venture too far off into arcade territory.

Sucks to be a 360 owner :(

Don't write off the X360 version just yet. We don't know how dumbed down it's going to be. Naturally, MS want to maximize sales of the X1, so that version is getting all the glitz and glamor.

Sucks even more to be even without an XBox 360...

I hear ya man.. was without one for months when my first one kicked the bucket. What platform are you currently gaming on?

The car audio in H1 was one of the biggest reasons I stopped playing it.. it just didn't feel and sound like a Forza game to me. I went back to FM4 almost instantly. The cars have brilliant idling sounds, and the off-throttle growl and raspyness is represented well. Though Dirt 3 is probably the best example here. :D:tup:

The handling being closer to sim this time around is good news indeed. I might be inclined to pick it up on X360, but the deal with the sounds is somewhat holding me back. Again, are there no levers to adjust engine, music, tires, environmental sounds etc?

Some guy on neogaf edited together a bunch of footage from the demo to make an "adventure video". I'm sure everyone's sick of Youtube footage by now but here we go:

I'd love to know how he got the external camera angles.

Good point. I wonder how the final game will be with regard to this.

Too bad there's no XB360 demo! I was kinda hoping they had one but simply didn't announce it.

Right now only on PC, but since I sold my previous rig with a G27 (used on AC/Pcars & PS3) no racing games for me at the moment. I am going to get a TX and build a rig soon (was waiting for the price to drop and to work on the reliability issues and it's finally imported in Greece) and after it's done I will get a Xbox One. The reason is I don't like to play with a gamepad :)

@Speedster911 my point is we (x360 owners) have had ONE screenshot. No gameplay, no demo.

Why shouldn't I be worried? It's clear it's going to be even MORE inferior to the xbone version. It was always going to be inferior but this almost totalitarian approach to FH2 (they wanna sell xbones, I understand it) its borderline insulting to those of us who just can NOT afford a xbone yet.

Does that console coming out suddenly render the 360 obsolete? Hell no. But Microsoft would love us to lap that up.

That unfortunately, is most likely true. Wait for reviews, if it really is that inferior, I say don't get it. I think the ONLY real advantage X1 has over the X360 version (naturally) is graphics. I'm sure the audio is not going to change much. Drivatars won't be there, but so what? And the map might be a bit limited. To be frank, I'm not expecting H2 to be anything mind blowing, as I found the first one quite mediocre.

It's been so long since I've played FH1's demo, but if that's the case, that eases my expectations a bit. 👍
Twice as much.
So you want 40 cents a car?

I don't think any developer has given that kind of deal.

Got a lot more content in FM5 for the season pass than we will in Horizon 2 unless they decide to throw some free content our way.

Yeah the audio mixing is really focused on the music, I have cars on 10 and radio on 4 and I can still barely hear the engine. So I had to increase the volume on my sound system to higher levels than normally(Forza 5).
The music is really nice though.

That's something. Would prefer a complete mute.

But who knows what the 360 version will do.
The original Horizon was like that as well, so it should be in. Its not like it would be something hard for them to do.

I think it's safe to say fh2 will push the 360 hard, like the original did.

The fact that horizon 2 is even coming to 360 is really good. You're saying it's unfair that a game that will be running a last gen console to the max will be inferior to the current gen version, but the truth is what would actually be unfair is if the game was held back on current gen, just to match the old gen better. If you really want the "superior" version, it's time to upgrade. The 360 has had a 7 year life span, longer than the original Xbox by far and the ps2. You don't have the money, ok, but soon you will, and you sure as hell wouldn't want new games on your 400 dollar console being handicapped just because of old gen.

Didn't get FH1 since I only got an xbox 360 the last couples days of 2012 and was glued to FM4. Demo had enough for me to get the Day One version.

That's still an unrealistic expectation. It's 20% off a car with seems pretty decent.

Agreed on the music. I'm liking it a lot more than I thought I would, although I am recognizing a few tracks I've heard on XM's BPM channel.

Great start with the TX 458 Italia Wheel last night on XBox One. I needed to fine tune the steering dead zone a bit, but other than that, it worked great on the default settings. The radio is the only anoying part of the game so far. Easy to switch off. Should be a fun game.

I just tried to stand on the side of the road and let the drivatars pass me, to listen to engine sounds and
the sound of AI cars was very faint. Then I chased a Viper and an LFA in bonnet view - veery quiet.
Maybe the demo doesn't have all effects and stuff? In Forza 5 usually other car's exhausts are louder than mine.
:boggled:

Fair enough, agree to disagree about the value of the season pass.
