For almost all of them sheer speed alone will get you to three stars, any X999 hypercar should get you there. The jump that took me the longest to complete was the one above the motorway tunnel which I couldn't come close to completing hitting it head on, I had to approach from the right and jump diagonally into the trees to get the required distance as I'd just scrub way too much speed hitting the compression.

I finished the danger and speed traps this evening. Almost completed the speed zones too but a couple of just too hard to reach 3 stars in winter so I'll have to wait for them. I feel like I've played this game quite a lot now over the last couple of weeks yet I've still got stuff to do. 2 stories, all the drift zones and the remaining influence boards before I need to begin grinding exhibition and street racing events to finish it off. Really amazed by the amount of content.

I have noticed a couple of issues too. I completed the seasonal trial, my team actually won by quite a margin, yet I never received the green man suit. I'm also stuck on the final weekly challenge "trading paints", I set a simple circuit race on easy and rode the side of my opponents for 5-10 seconds but I'm not achieving the skill. I checked out a couple of youtube videos and it shows people receiving it for glancing their opponents so I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, any thoughts?

You have to trade paint as you overtake them, if you don't pass the car you don't get it.

Switch to Horizon Solo and just grind against traffic cars in free roam. You'll be done in a minute.

Why would you have to basically redownload the whole map? If they were to do minor changes to the world, they would just have a patch to add them and maybe update parts of the map where the changes were made.

I am sure I will be late to this discussion, but... It just doesn't work that way, chief. If PG does it like many other developers do, the terrain elevation of the map is all described by a single 3d file, which should weight something in the neighborhood of 20 GBs. Every small modification requires swapping that file out for an updated one - yes, even just adding a bridge you can ride on to reach the new portion of the map requires replacing the entire 3d file for the game map.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm in a game design major in my college and still trying to find what makes games like this tick. I'm still in the Unity stage, so have a long way until I can do something like Forza or GT.

This was the way I thought it works:
Think of Minecraft, where you have different chunks making up the world. If Horizon's map was like that, then they would just change/update the chunk without interfering with the rest. Then again, if it did work like that then they would have to tweak the surrounding chunks so they can be collaborative with the new updated chunk.

Most open world maps are split into chunks so that the culling and LOD systems can work on separate pieces as opposed to the whole thing (or the even more unsustainable alternative of having the entire map stay at full detail all the time).

After Blizzard Mountain was released cars on the mainland map would “float” above the surface at Festival Hubs by a few cm.
Oh, i never searched the explanation for that permanent bug - all my cars are hovering in FH3 - i thought it was related for a car setup load while in the wild. 👍

@TheAdmiester But even then, the map's assets could be* packaged as one piece and compressed. Patching part of a 20GB package either means replacing the whole thing with a 20GB patch or unpacking it, writing over the required files and repackaging it, and for most people the former would be preferable (but still not ideal) because you'd have to have an extra >20GB free, your CPU usage would spike and a whole load of RAM would be occupied for (seemingly) 'no reason' - that's quite tough to explain to users who don't know how computers work. A 20GB patch would be big, but it would just download like any other file, no additional space required.

Payday 2 had this problem early on, seemingly minor changes required huge patches and then when they decided to change how the files were packaged people effectively had to re-download the entire game, fortunately after that the patches were far smaller but the comments under the Steam update announcements made a compelling argument for not doing things that way!

*Maybe we're wrong, maybe they have built it in such a way that it's easily patchable, but given the age of the engine the game is built on I'd be quite surprised if this functionality was included early on and it might be too late to change it now. That's even more supposition, though, so who knows.

Speed. Good aim. Good luck. Lots of horsepowers.
... and rewind. ;)

Hmm that one was rather easy for me. It's part of Forzathon Live and I completed each danger sign that's part of a Forzathon Live either in my road spec X999 Lambo Aventador FE (early playing days) or else my dirt spec S2 956 BMW M6 FE (which I use for Forzathon live since I got it).

My struggle is mostly the drift zones on those extremely narrow dirt sections. Still gotta do those and a few speed zones (I think). Danger signs and speed traps are all finished and were quite easy IMO. Still got a dozen of bonus boards to hunt too but I haven't given that a try yet either. And overall 5 achievements left of which 3 are PvP ones, I haven't gotten much into that yet either, I'm just focussing on Forzathon Live most of the time, I seem to be getting absolutely addicted to first getting the hype up and then receiving the legendary disappointment of seeing this 90% of the time :

PSA from someone living in a country where bodies of water indeed freeze over during winter... If you come across a frozen lake/river with standing water on it (like Derwent Lake in the game) for the love of god do not venture on it. That means it hasn't completely frozen over, the ice will crack and you will drown.

Bought the 15 million cr castle, now I just need to get all the cars. Super wheel spins sucked as usual with low credit payouts and clothes that I don’t need. The highway circuit blueprint race really helps with getting credits.

And while I'm here, is there anyone who actually likes the Ken Block/Hoonigan content?

While aspects of the cars (and especially the Monster liveries) are a little too Mountain Dew "xtreeeeeme!" for me, a few of the cars are cool.

It's all about trying to appeal to a broad range of interests. Some people like buttoned-down GT racing in traditional liveries. Some people like the gymkhana stuff. Some people (mostly just me), like flying around the map in a barely-controllable Peel P50 with a Dominos Pizza livery.

Was driving to Broadway when I randomly got caught in a awkward glitch, it was basically like sinkhole, which I then used as a dyno:

Some people (mostly just me)

I saw two people doing wheelies in Fiat 500s yesterday, one with a Pornhub livery and the other done up like a Carabinieri car, so it's not just you!

@mustafur during the Edinburgh cross country race I saw an AI get stuck in the ground like that after the big jump, I must admit it made up for at least a few of the times it has punted me off the track in co-op races. But only a few.

I've also seen some Ai get stuck within some shipping crates on this one track that was somewhat set up like a figure 8 near the last section of the track lol.

That's the Aerodrome. I've had a few run side by side with me through the crates and then shove me into the one small corner of crate that is wider than the others....

Annoyingly I did the Forzathon Winter bonus but didn't get the points, I wonder if it either miscounted how many dailies I've done (it's only Tuesday, after all, surely the 7th daily should be on Thursday?) or... Is just broken.

You might have missed a day if that's the case. Thursdays are usually when the next season starts.

We are still winter for a few minutes, and my forzathon shop is not the same as a week ago o_O

Would it be the spring shop?
Edit: it's spring, and this is still my in-game shop.

Good to know:
- "Threading the Needle" requires you to perform two (close in time) near-miss, one by the left, one by the right (or the opposite :p )
- The Catheram ([TRACK TOYS] 2013 Caterham SUPERLIGHT R500 - 82000 Cr) required is the non Forza Edition (i tested, the FE doesn't work)

Or next winter's shop. Regardless, it's nice to know that the Gymkhana 10 cars that will be a reskin of vehicles already in game will come via the Forzathon shop and will not take up spots in the Car Pass...

That Hoonicorn is the Drift car i'm feeling the most confortable with so far (i'm not a drifter). Also it has what i believe is the best Perks grid.
