Just started playing the game, why did I get so many gift cars and stuff already?

And I'm gifted 2 Taycan Turbos already what the hell 🤣

A lot of us "veteran" players are gifting cars to new players at the moment.

@UKMikey it is Los Jardines bud. It's just a Trial this week that players need to discard the first race.

Me too. I completely forgot about the barn finds but don't you have to actively pick those up from barns? I'm pretty sure the ones which show up in your inbox are PG goodies we've been sent over the years.

That’s correct

Wow thanks! Some of these are nice cars, even got an LFA and I was planning on unlocking that car.

Hola! "The gardens" - 3 days in Spain and I'm already fluent in Spanish

Personally speaking I don't need the cars I have a full collection so you and everyone else are more than welcome. Spread the love and all that lol.

I expect a full translation of all the race route titles upon your return bud 😂😂😂😂.

I hate drag races in Forza. I hate drag races as part of the playlist.
It's drift zones for me bud. I can drift but I've never been great at it.

For drag builds as a basic go for as much power as you can get, try to keep it RWD, wheel spacers on rear and as fat a tyres you can. Stiffen the rear suspension as much as possible. Oh and turn off traction control and stability control in the menu.

Doing that will win you most races. Once you've got you head into tuning you can adjust your gears, and go manual gears to improve your times.

Just started Apex festival and got 50 cars already from wheelspins, gifts, backstage passes and 2 barn finds.

Tried the auction and got a couple of cool cars with 50% off the price from autoshow so that's nice I guess.

I did not expect to enjoy the exploration so much, maybe it's because the driving is so satisfying.

Edit : hope they add adaptive trigger features in the future, it would make things much better.

It's great to hear such overall positive feedback on the game from PS5 owners, even if it's from people who have already played the game and know what to expect. I got the impression from the PlayStation announcement thread that some gamers were unsure about pulling the trigger on what to them must be an unknown quantity, especially as they don't have access to GamePass to trial play the game.

Perhaps favourable word of mouth reviews from their fellow Sony console owners may help to tip more of them over the edge. A larger playerbase is good for every Horizon player in my opinion, regardless of their platform of choice, as it'll help pay for future updates in the series.

I love Drift Zones but it's because the scoring mechanic is more forgiving than in FH4. IIRC, in FH4 only one tire needs to be slightly off the area to not score.

My least favorite is Danger Signs. I utterly suck at these. Not only that but some of them give off a "Failed" result for landing on breakable Trees or Plants when it's pretty much unavoidable E.G. The Palm Tree Forest at the top of Sierra Nuevo's Rally Adventure requires landing in a place full of breakable objects.

Danger signs I don't mind. Again, like Trail Blazers they can be fun from trying to find different approaches to gain extra distance.

Whenever the game requires a long jump from a low powered car I normally head to the Base Jump danger sign at the Horizon Rush outpost. The vertical drop seems to make it easier to score a higher distance, provided you don't hit anything when landing.

My go to jump for that scenario has always been the jump off the volcano that faces the main festival site. You can get a good run up if you start on the ridge by the small body of water.

I've never thought of using the Rush Festival sites jump, I'll have to give it a go next time.

Try any Formula Drift cars, they are extremely easy to drift.

I think we all know about the Formula Drifts. Chase cam and Drift cam also help.

With me it's more a matter of preference than finding it too difficult to do as FH5's targets are quite reasonable.

I've golded every drift zone on the map but I find it irksome trying to manji down those straights. It's more of a chore than a fun excursion for me and I greatly prefer other PR stunts.

I haven't even started Drift Club 2.0. Do they still have that Welsh guy?

Cheers bud. Yeah I can drift, I didn't make that clear, I just don't enjoy and I'm not great at it. @UKMikey description of how he feels about drift zones is probably the best way I could describe how I feel about them.

I too have got gold on all the zones but I just don't replay the drift PR stunts at all. However, I will regularly replay other PR stunts.

One thing I miss about FH5 is not having pedestrians apart from a few walled off areas - always reduces the immersion for me, in open world driving games generally. I mean you can never have enough people, right? Although 300,686 today was a bit much

I wish more games used the system like Driver San Francisco or Midnight Club where there are pedestrians, they just get out of the way really quickly so you can't run them over

Ooooooooookay Playground Games, gloves are off!!!

I know it means nothing. I really like this game. But this one thing...

You know that the TV show Knight Rider with the Hoff and K.I.T.T. was big in Germany (if you wanna know why, PM me and I'll explain). I grew up with this show. Lo and behold, K.I.T.T. is in FH5. With cockpit and everything. Naturally, I want to have it. But it is very hard to get, as it is paid content (part of the 'Universal Icons Car Pack' together with BTTF Deloreans and a Jurassic Park Jeep). In a weak moment, I seriously consider spending real world money just to get this car. Deep down I know that would be stupid, but K.I.T.T. is part of my automotive childhood, so I'm tempted.

So I thought "hey, let's hop on Youtube and watch a video of K.I.T.T. in the game, maybe that'll help you decide." And hooooo boy did it do that, but totally different than I expected. Whoever created that car in the game: I will voluntarily go to hell just to find a special place for you there to rot until eternity. You FUMBLED the red scanner bar in the front - that iconic recognizable feature. Everybody who has ever seen Knight Rider knows it. It is in every single of the 90 episodes, even in the damn intro. So, unknown person, how could you put it in Forza Horizon 5 like that?

IRL, the red scanner bar is made of a few small lamps in rectangular reflectors behind a red-tinted transparent panel. The lights are turned on and off in a way that gives the impression that K.I.T.T. is "scanning" the area. Very simple, right? Nope, not for Playground Games it seems. In their infinite wisdom, they said "It'S JuSt A LiGhT gOiNg BaCk AnD fOrTh oLoLoLoLoL" and made the lamp, INCLUDING ITS REFLECTOR, slide back and forth the scanner bar like it's playing freaking Snake on a Nokia dumbphone. Watch it in action here and weep.

You, person who did this: I will find you, and I will kill you. Spoiler: I probably won't. But man, I hope you'll stub your little toe every day for the rest of your life. :irked:

I got a few questions about painting and liveries.

How can I get metallic color on cars? Do I need to use one of the provided specialpaints and adjust hue, saturation etc, or is there some magic button I haven't found that changes the paint style like in motorfest?

Is there a way to edit liveries afterwards? Made one for 300ZX and saved it before realising I missed some stickers.

Do I need to re-do the whole livery of can I open up the one I made and add to it?

This is a very good question that I asked myself, too. I found no clear answer, but a workaround: use the two tone metallic paint option and set both, 'lowlight' and 'highlight', to the same hue, saturation and brightness. This does even give you a few more options to play with to hit the metallic look you want, but I would prefer to have a simple 'metallic paint' option, too. With all the paint variants in the game, I don't understand why this very basic option isn't there.

I guess the technology to do this exists within the game as animals have similar evasive properties.
