Try any Formula Drift cars, they are extremely easy to drift.
Nah, those are just overkill and not needed. For some reason the drifting in this game is so easy I cleared a section with 3 stars in an unmodified front wheel drive Volvo estate.

For reference I truly suck at drifting in every other game (I still haven't gold gold for the GT7 missions and just set the difficulty as low as possible for anything in Motorfest). My big worry about the next Horizon potentially being set in Japan is even more emphasis on the stupid sideways nonsense.

Overkill yes, but they get the job done if you just want easy 3 stars.

@Hasse 86 beat me to posting Hoki Hoshi's fuel and tire wear experimetal findings video on the FM2023 thread so, instead, here's one Don Joewon Song dropped a couple of days ago about how to reach a speed of 670 km/h (or 416 mph in the old money) in FH5.

How strange bud, I just watched this Don video before coming into work this morning after it popped up in my YouTube feed. I'm quite looking forward to trying out his creations.

It's not really strange. We're all regular Horizon addicts and the YouTube algorithm has us by the short 'n' curlies. It popped up in my feed as well.

Another remark from an avid GT7 player:

Engine tuning is solved much better in FH5 than it is in GT7.

In FH5, you can change arbitrary parts and rev the engine in real time to get an impression if and how they change the sound. And you can install & uninstall any part as desired and only need to pay for what you finally decide for.

Also there's a diagram to see the change in the torque/hp curve as a 'before vs. after' installing any part. In GT7 you just see the after curve, and the scales of the X and Y axis adjust automatically. So in GT7 you see what the curves look like with the new part installed, but you cannot directly compare them to the old curves. Also, you may miss that the torque/hp figures probably just jumped up by a huge margin because the Y axis adjusted automatically. This maximizes the used diagram space, but is also misleading for how much just changed.

I'm still surprised that other games haven't adopted the idea of adding parts to a shopping basket then only paying at the end, it makes so much intuitive sense and allows a lot more experimentation without breaking the bank. Such a good little feature.

As for the fixed torque curve graph scaling, the downside of it is that low-powered cars with high-powered engine swaps tend to have their graph heavily compressed by the fact that the player could potentially put a 1000hp+ V8 in them. I personally would like to see a bit of a compromise, with the graph either scaled to the maximum power for the current engine, or to the maximum power for the best upgrade in the currently selected category. The latter might jump around a bit too much when changing categories though, and if it's like the older games the graph scale is actually preset as part of the engine data rather than calculated on the fly.

Hope the newbies are getting on alright with those difficult-to-smash bonus boards.

Agreed, the curves of a very low-powered car with high-power engine swaps are difficult to read. I would prefer an intelligent adaptive scaling, too. On the other hand, this motivates to put in a proper engine. :D

But GT7 arguably has the worst version of adaptive scaling: you only see the end result, the torque curve and hp curve are scaled independently of each other always to the same vertical position in the diagram and only the maximum numeric value of each curve is displayed.

It will be really interesting if we‘ll get Information on FH6 this Sunday… On the one hand there are many things that hint towards it, on the other there seem to be multiple people telling that PG is focused on Fable and havent started with Horizon 6… so it might Launch somewhere between November and 2030

Well, in my opinion, the chances of us hearing something about FH6 have never been higher.

Last October, FH5 received the Horizon Backstage feature, allowing players, who missed hard-to-find cars, to obtain them. Earlier this year, FH5 stopped getting new content and began recycling playlists and rewards. This is pretty much the same that happened with FH4 in late 2020/early 2021. We know what happened next...

As for the Fable question, there are supposed to be two teams at Playground Games. As far as I know, each one working exclusively on one of their franchises, the idea being the capability of working on both those franchises concurrently, thus increasing game output. While there most likely are people that are "shared" by both teams, if work on one franchise is causing a delay of months, or years even, for the other... that's kind of defeating the purpose of two teams, and some mismanagement of workloads and personnel is occuring.

The pattern for June reveals has held firm so far, so I'd suspect a reveal at the Xbox Showcase or at the Summer Game Fest tonight

If they use the older version of the Forza engine AND the Eventslab toolset, a new FH6 coulld come sooner. And why not? that engine is fine. Or, they could do a third expansion for a quick turnaround.

I might be strange for saying this but... FH5 is a stunning game already. I find it hard to see how they could push the visuals so much further to make us go: "WOW!"

I'm sure there'll be people complaining whatever they do but I hope they can push the visuals whichever engine PG decide to use. From what I remember, the majority of the launch problems with FH5 were more to do with network infrastructure than with the majority of the game build itself.

Wow, Hot Wheels expansion is really not enjoyable IMO

AI is a bit unbalanced, the progress felt like a slog.
Imo, the cars are definitely the highlight of the Hot Wheels DLC, and the main thing that make it worthwhile. Otherwise I agree, espescially with how much more rubberbanding the AI gets.

The Rally Expansion beyond superior to the Hot Wheels Expansion, imo. But, I'm also biased, as I enjoy off-roading in Horizon quite a bit.

Oh me too, which is why I save it for last. Besides I did the Hot Wheels one because it's required for one of seasonal playlist and I want that Cortina.

If 6 was really that far out they wouldn’t have ended support for 5. I doubt 6 is only in “early” development.

Logically huge chunks of the team started working on 6 as soon as 5 shipped years ago.

It’s also worth noting that PG is a two team studio with one dedicated to Fable and one to Forza.

Not making any claims if Forza shows up or not on Sunday, but at least part of what this leaker said is uninformed bs.

Currently doing the seasonal playlist with the GT class and the stock M8 Comp is a nice surprise. It feels great and has enough grip, anyone else liking the car ?

What's with the replays though? I remember on Game Pass on PC a few years ago the replays were jacked up, the transmission of the cars never shift, sounds like a CVT with one gear. Now on PS it's still the same? I figured it was a bug they'd fix eventually.

I finished all normal road and rally races I think. Do they ever add more regular type races or can you erase your results and try them with higher difficulty? I was doing some on Highly skilled and most on Above Average. It would be cool if you could reset them all and try them on higher difficulty and keep track in game somehow.

Hot wheels is mostly about sending your top speed cars flying down the track like the toys do. You don’t even really need to brake for many corners. It has accolades for beating the races on higher AI so I just did them on unbeatable.

I did prefer the rally expansion for better racing. It was great playing those more technical courses in like a lower A class Peugeot rally car.
