Wow, Hot Wheels expansion is really not enjoyable IMO

AI is a bit unbalanced, the progress felt like a slog.
Hot wheels is mostly about sending your top speed cars flying down the track like the toys do. You don’t even really need to brake for many corners. It has accolades for beating the races on higher AI so I just did them on unbeatable.

I did prefer the rally expansion for better racing. It was great playing those more technical courses in like a lower A class Peugeot rally car.

I finished all normal road and rally races I think. Do they ever add more regular type races or can you erase your results and try them with higher difficulty? I was doing some on Highly skilled and most on Above Average. It would be cool if you could reset them all and try them on higher difficulty and keep track in game somehow.
I think they added four extra road race locations while the game was live on Xbox PC. You don't have to reset any of them to try them on your choice of difficulty level with any car. The game automatically matches you against similarly classed cars and auto adjusts their PI to match yours. Just drive or teleport to the location in Free Roam and start a race.

Playlist events are locked to Highly Skilled AI level.

The game doesn't keep track of which locations you've played though.

In addition you can play user created race routes in EventLab at any difficulty.

Yeah can't wait to jump in the rally one, I've got a few lower class cars that might be fun to drive on those courses.

It’s just nuts to let Forza Horizon 5 rot on Xbox and PC for another year or more with it end of life now.

It’s bigger than Fable ever will be.

If it’s a 2026 release but likely late in the year to avoid GTA, a reveal at the Game Awards in December would make sense.

Of course that also applies to Fable. Hopefully Playground haven’t bitten off more than they can chew, even with 2 teams.

That was quite disappointing. :D

That one more announcement. No Japanese roads and screaming Engines to be found... LOL

The Forza team is 100% helping the Fable team to get the game over the line, this 2 studios within a studio setup has never worked like you would expect, the project that is closer to release always pulls all available resources. Fable will release first no doubt about it, then FH6 in 2027 maybe.

I kind of felt it wasn't gonna show today because it didn't really feel right, but yikes. We're stuck with no updates for FH5 for the next year? I honestly did think there was some credence to them dropping FH6 to keep the hype going for PS5 players.

Ericship usually doesn't base anything he says in reality, this is more of a "broken clock is still right twice a day" deal. If you throw enough stink at the wall then surely some of it is going to stick

It's going to Horizon, Motorsport is a generation plan, more than 2 years
As a newswriting person, I have to point out that he only said "Forza" and nothing more specific.

Fable was also listed and - as noted above - even with two separate studio teams you're looking at Playground Games supporting two very big titles in the same year if "the next Forza" is Horizon. On the flip, Motorsport seems too new to be replacing it already, and still sees active support.

Nonetheless, he said "the next Forza". I can't write "FH6" based on that.

It was reported last year that Playground Games established a 2nd in-house studio for the sole purpose of assisting the current team working on Fable alongside Eidos whilst the main team is still on Horizon.

Verifiable comments aside, I know which of the two would make more sense for them financially and am more sure of Horizon being announced ahead of Motorsport "2" than, say, of the game being set in Tokyo.

I would look at TGA for a possible Horizon 6 announcement.

Horizon is a huge deal these days as is the Game Awards.

It would line up nicely for a 2026 release.

I think a few developers are avoiding any announcements/reveals for that reason. The 3 showcases this weekend were okay, I suppose, but it looks like Indie Game developers were the big stars with plenty of variety coming. But, when it came to the AAA-esque titles, the only ones with set release dates were this year whilst the rest left it vaguely at just "2026" (minus RE9 that's in March for their 30th Anniversary). But, there seemed to be a lot of other highly anticipated titles that weren't mentioned at all.

It makes me wonder if some of these development teams are waiting closer to December to showcase the games & release dates as we'll know more about GTA meeting its May deadline or showcase in June 2026 with a Holiday 2026 release so GTA is out of the way.

A disappointing day, unfortunately. So much for past patterns...

For those who just bought the game, this is just the time they need to get all they want, out of FH5, before moving on. However, for those who've owned FH5 for years, as myself (and most of the playerbase), who have pretty much extracted every last bit of juice out of the title and are ready for the next big thing, this is tough.

We could be looking at over a year before the new game is in our hands and the old title is just recycling content.

If they're not launching something new now, then they should give us a few new cars, at least. Something to mess around with while we wait.

If they're not able to do even that, because of Fable, what was the point of creating this new team for that game? Wasn't their purpose to avoid this kind of occurrence? Do they need even more people to improve their productivity? Or is their productivity suffering because they have too many people, and the required coordination for the project is becoming too difficult?

My hope, for the time being, pivots to Assetto Corsa Evo, for a pleasant open-world experience, before FH6.

A lot of stuff got delayed into 2026 behind the scenes in fear of GTA 6 coming this year, but now Rockstar delayed themselves and left the back half of 2025 empty, much easier to push stuff back than to pull it back into 2025 once devs are told they have more time to work on the game.

Of the top of my head I can’t think of many (any?) AAA studios not accounted for. AKA I can’t think of highly anticipated games that should be ready to be announced but aren’t.

We pretty much know what everybody is doing and we have narrow timeframes and for almost everything.

The entire GTA thing is a bit overblown.

Publishers will avoid the GTA time window, but the world will keep on turning after that.
