A new game coming from Turn 10 scheduled for Fall.

Looks like a free roam game like TDU to me, however still looks cool!

what do you think?

TDU1 truly was innovative IMO. A sandbox racing game that huge with that much community interaction was amazing. The first one was epic but the 2nd game ended up having a TON of bugs and problems. So if Forza can pull this off and make it as good as TDU then I think all of us that enjoy free roaming sandbox racing games would truly enjoy this. Allow at least 8 players to drive around together at the same time, at least some sort of vinyl editor, night day cycle, weather, and pretty much everything from TDU1 and TDU2. I guess we will just have to wait and see but my expectations are not high for this since its their first attempt at an open world sandbox game. I do agree that using the PGR3 and PGR4 engine would work very well with this game. It doesnt need to be a simulation racing game. More arcade would be enjoyable for a sandbox game like this. They will need a public beta for this game for sure if they want it to be truly successful.

There is also a thread for this on the sister site Forzaplanet.net http://www.forzaplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=28432&posted=1#post28432

The studio making this, it's their first attempt at a video game under their name, period. However, most of the people working on it are veterans in the game industry and racing games in general, who have shipped some big AAA racing titles over the last decade. So I would say we are in good hands.

It is weird to anyone else that they would use a generic text for the name in the video? You would think they'd put some time into making a logo before releasing the video.

Well as long as they ship a good product in time (or a reasonable time) nobody will care about the lack of logo at this stage of the game. Basically they are just saying "hey! We are working on it".

Hmmmm, wierd and i would have thaught we would see more in gameplay..

I don't understand game previews with no game footage. Seems like a waste of money that could be put towards the actual game.

It's called advertisement. You are here talking about it aren't you?

Same thing I posted in the Forzaplanet forum.

I just want to give a heads up for those thinking Forza Horizon will be a sim racer. They are trying to pull in a more casual audience so this one will mainly be an arcade racer with a little touch of sim.

Forza 1,2,3,4,5,6,7..... will be simulation racing.
Forza Horizon 1,2,3,4,.... will be causual arcade racing. With maybe a tiny taste of sim.

Need for speed is doing something very similar. Shift is their sim racing experience. NFS Hot Pursuit, NFS MW2, and The run are examples of their arcade racer.

If you do not want an arcade racing experience similar to TDU or PGR then probably wont want to buy Forza Horizon. I am going into Horizon expecting an experience similar to TDU and PGR. If you expect a full simulation racing game in an open world experience then you will be disappointed.

Since this is their first attempt at an open world cruising game, I will probably just rent it. TDU2 (after all the patches) is about as good as it gets when it comes to open world cruising arcade fun. I think T10 is going to have to come up with something truly outstanding to top TDU1 or TDU2. We will see. But at this point I will probably just rent this to be safe.

This is the short and 100% accurate answer.

I don't know about TDU2 ever being a good game, even after the lack luster patches that barely fixed anything. That's either setting your standards pretty low, or having not played many other arcade racers. Arcade racing games can still have really good driving controls, but saying TDU2 is one of them is being pretty dishonest lol; TDU2s controls were unplayable.

Forza Horizon is still using the driving model from Forza 4, it will be tuned down, but not as much as you are claiming, if Turn-10 and Playground Games are to be believed. You can still play the game with no assists, and manual/clutch is supported as well. So it still simulates somethings to an extent, just not on the same level as Forza 4.

^I have played pretty much every single arcade and sim racer that exists on the 360 and PS3. I agree that the TDU2 handling was terrible. I used TDU2 as an example because its an enormous open world sandbox racing game. TDU1 was on 1 entire island. TDU2 is on 2 full islands. Its massive.

The way that you will be driving out in an open world environment is like the TDU series. I also mentioned that the handling will actually be similar to NFS, TDU, or PGR. People are expecting a full Forza sim experience in an open world. Thats not going to happen. Those expecting a sim open world game are going to be disappointed. It will have some sim but wont be 100% sim like the track racing Forza games.

What exactly are you basing this on? They've said it'll be the Forza physics engine, so why are you expecting something very different?

Wrong wrong wrong.

someone has not been watching or listening or paying any kind of attention to this game.

In EVERY interview so far published on youtube and various other website, they have stated (they as in T10 and playground games) that it will be the Forza Motorsport physics engine, tweaked slightly for off roading.

Please do not post misleading posts.

According to ForzaPlanet.net members who have actually played the demo, it handles nothing like FM4 and anything but realistic.

Regardless, this thread is in the wrong section (as there is already a Forza sub-forum AND ForzaPlanet.net) so just let the thread die.

My point is until the final product is shipped we have no idea how its gonna feel.

I played a build of FM4 at a gameshow 6 weeks before it was released and it felt horrible compared to the final product.

So lets wait and see before we go overboard on what it is and is not. Also, someone "saying" it handles nothing like FM4 can be subjective. So lets wait and see.
