Although from a personal preference I always have preferred GT,. I have to say FM4 looks truly epic graphically. I do not own an Xbox but a mate of mine has pre ordered it and I will be interested in playing it.

Nice you lucky 🤬! Have fun!!

FM3 has been my greatest console racing experience ever.

As an overall package I would tend to agree with you.

Gotta agree with you there. Although, strictly on the track racing, Race Pro gets the edge for me. But as a package Forza destroys Race Pro. And even the word destroy might be too tame. WAIT , don't get me wrong, Race Pro is a "must buy" for a 360 owner even in this late date it's just as a package Forza blows it away.

As a package...all out game I was talking, yes. Just track racing, then for console, Race Pro is the aces. However, I have not played Ferrari Challenge.

I have not played Ferrari Challenge either. I'd like to get a hold of that. I tried getting info on it by posting in different forums but the tumbleweed and echo afterwards wasn't a good sign.

Ferrari Challenge doesn't compare... its fun for about 30mins.

the driving model isnt bad, but theres a lot of polish missing

I disagree. If you like Race Pro, FC would be right up your ally.

Definitly harder, but a good game. Has rain, real world tracks, and a pretty good livery design. Qualify, Race, and even yellow flags.

Its a good sim.

You do know that it is an H2 in the pic, right?

And no it doesn't mean anything but it is possible that its in.

Meh. They're both pretty useless. The H3 is just a smaller turd. But, I did realize it was an H2 just after posting it, but I didn't care enough to edit.

Sebring? Please, let it be updated this time around! :scared:

One area that FM3 could never get right with Sebring is the slabs on the final turn. I don't mean the turn itself, that's on point, what I mean is how the car is going over those large slabs and the grooves between each slab but you never feel those "clunks" but you hear them. I , for the life of me, don't know why they can't get that in there. BUT here's the kicker, I could have sworn when FM2 first came out you could feel the feedback through the wheel/controller. Then a patch came to fix something or something or nother and it was gone and has been gone every since. Sometimes I wonder if I was imagining it but I swear I KNOW I felt it in FM2 at the beginning.

I wonder if Dan can really play FM without driving aids and a wheel... He looks not so interested in racing and cars like Kaz did... Ok he might have a few car in his garage but that means not that he has a real passion for racing and cars... I never heared that Dan is on the Nordschleife or is racing on another track or so...

You DO know there are COUNTLESS people who have a passion for cars and want to do no more than enjoy them on an open country road and NOT at break your neck speeds.

Dan has no racing experience, just a love for cars. Kaz is a race car driver. That's what Kaz did before he even got into making video games. Although, now, racing is more of a hobby for him, he's still a race car driver. Turn10 brings in their own race car drivers to help with development.

You could argue that Dan represents the majority of players.

I would bet a very high percentage have never raced for real but still know what they like from a game.

What are you talking about?

Kaz was not a race car driver before he got into gaming. He wanted to be an astronaut & had a fascination with space. He ended up in graphic design after high school which is the only time he had experience working with car manufacturers prior to Gran Turismo. After that is when he started working for Sony to create video games for the PS1 & 4 years later is when GT finally rolled around.

It wasn't until a few years ago that Kaz. was finally given seat time in a professional race & recognized a race car driver. Until then, he was just a guy who had track time in various cars to use help develop the series. Even then, the GT series has used professional drivers during development just as much as T10 has.

BOOM!👍

Note: Suzuka is up on FM's website.

The two of you make it sound like Dan and Kazunori are, respectively, the only sources of influence for their series... When you, Shouden, even remarked that T10 get experienced people to give them feedback on the game. So I really don't get that point.

Also, as I said in the FM vs. GT thread: I don't see the touch of a race car driver in GT5.

If being a race driver is what lead Kazunori to the various design decisions in GT5, for the love of god, strap Dan to a chair and make sure he never, ever goes near a race track.

So...using the absurd logic above it seems race car drivers make unfinished games with odd decisions and lack of worthwhile content whilst people with no racing experience can produce quality racing games with features that add to the gameplay. Howzat? :dunce:

I have not played Ferrari Challenge either. I'd like to get a hold of that. I tried getting info on it by posting in different forums but the tumbleweed and echo afterwards wasn't a good sign.

Great game, especially with the decent wheel and with all patches downloaded. Of course, you have to live with 30fps and some slowdowns.

Network code was pretty bad and not solved even for successor, SuperCar Challenge. However, we run it for months in our small league and had tremendous fun.

Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli boosts extremely decent logic in way how tire-physics is implemented, especially the tire-threshold - in the way that is almost nowhere to be seen in driving games. Result of that threshold is how you can't really overtake the car in front on any position of the track as you can in 99% of other games. You have to have clear overtake line and decent amount of grip in order to have your tires sustain the acceleration, movement and lateral characteristics of the urface in order to prevent sliding and skidding. It is the only game where catching the car in front is one thing and overtaking it is another, so to say.

Also, it have beautiful execution of shifting, where you can't shift like a maniac, but it is car-dependable and actual rev-dependable. You can't downshift from 5th to 2nd in 2 seconds, you have to "respect" both engine and shifter/clutch in order to make shifting.

It also have a nice vibration effect on wheel while shifting but implementation of force feedback effect could be better, especially because of the crazy deadzone.

But overall, it is really a great game, with 1080p graphics, beautiful rain effects (both audio and visual, especially from cockpit view), extraordinary list of real-life tracks (some of them are nowhere to be seen in any other game) and very decent lineup of Ferrari cars. Even the "cards" mini-game is pretty nice and made to resemble my child-days with such cards imported from Italy.

It will remain as testament to one man's passion towards Ferrari (producer Mark Cale was the only responsible for this game) and Eutechnyxs ability to produce a decent game. What is left to be wanted is 60fps graphics and further tweaks to force feedback implementation.

As I recall, there was PSN version of the game available as download in budget range in some point, those who are interested could invest that much for that experience.
