There WILL be a visual divide and it will drive more people away from X1. Many folks get em' for the exclusives.

Time's the best judge.

Oh, and you don't think a powerful PC is going to be needed to see the improvement in graphics? Riiiiiiiight......

**If your number one concern is "The graphics look better, how could they?!" then, I mean, perhaps you shouldn't have invested in a console to begin with.**

How in blazes was I to know they'll consider bringing it to PC? And YES, for the last time, I am concerned about the game outdoing the X1 version graphically. Do you game on a PC BTW?

No he hasn't, it is just a rumor at the moment.

Good.

You can very seriously doubt that all you want, but if they where to port FM6 over to PC; it would be the same game with the same features. They would do this to utilize cross platform multiplayer, something they have been going on about for almost a year.

Why do you keep dragging this off-topic? Did I once mention "features"? READ AGAIN: graphic and quality divide = key concern.

It is very relevant, because it would make perfect business sense to release the same game on the Xbox one and on the PC. As the Xbox one and the windows 10 xbox app both communicate through the exact same xbox live servers and services, and that is the service any games microsoft release for windows 10 are going to go through. Such as Fable legends, which is releasing on both Xbox one and windows 10. Oh, and wait for it...... they are the same game and will allow PC users to play against xbox one users. As I already pointed out, they could utilize cross platform multiplayer, but only if the core game stays the same. Graphics are arbitrary, they have naught to do with the actual game play. They would not change the physics because of that. I already pointed out in my previous posting in here that there may well be a jump in the graphics, which is arbitrary to the gameplay. It is a visual aspect only.

Again, dragging this off-topic. Playing this like a broken record now: NOT concerned with gameplay or game features. Check previous quoted response.

A lot of people have the view that GT is stagnant, far more so then people believe Forza is. Though it will most likely sell better than Forza 6 did, owing to sheer numbers of PS4's out in the world, and the fact it is GT. People will be very willing to give it a chance, just as I am. I have been contemplating picking up a PS4 just so I can look at GT sport myself.

Hope they give fans something original this time around and address issues for a change.

Read my previous post again, and also the rest of this post. I never said they would not bump the graphics.

YOU read my previous comments! Bump in graphics is my main concern and unless you have a gaming PC yourself or can pick it up as you please, you would be concerned about the fact too, that there's a better-looking version out there. You can deny that all you want.

I am not saying they should not give the end user the options to tailor those things to personal preference, because they should. I have always agreed with you on that aspect. I just don't agree with you in the context you use to bring it to the table with.

Agree to disagree then - we all have our ways of putting concerns forward. I'm no forum elitist. I say it like it is. People can interpret it however they wish.

The game already gives you pretty good control of the cars though, but reducing the speed sensitivity to a near 0%, and doing the same with filtering; will not help your experience at all. You still need some there, otherwise you will be adding far too much turning force to the front wheels. The Thumbstick and only realisticly emulate a small portion of what a 900° steering wheel is capable off. Which is why Forza on a gamepad only emulates 180° (90° left, 90° right). That will just exasperate poor driving for many, and will make it harder to near impossible for control pad users to play like that. You keep forgetting that I have seen the effects of this first hand in games like Assetto Corsa, games that do have those adjustments available in the controller options. You still need a fair percentage of speed sensitivity and filtering in place to actually drive the cars on a pad.

You can't help but keep adding bits and pieces to derail the discussion, can you? WHERE did I say it should be at ZERO at all times? Can you please try and see the middle ground here? ADJUSTABLE settings. And no that does mean setting all filtering and speed sensitivity to ZERO to get the desired results. Make sense?

You need to stop overlooking the information I am giving you in regard to this, as it comes from first hand experience of this stuff in a great many racing games across all platforms and spanning 3 decades.

I am not overlooking anything here and the "expert advice" you keep putting on the table is not exactly unheard of. I've been playing Forza as long as you have and already aware of what it takes to use the pad effectively. I assure you, your feedback and even concerns on this forum would be a little different had you not even used a wheel to begin with and had to make do with the pad all along. Just a casual observation. And, you're not the only one out there... its referred to as "wheel elitism" and you are in full swing it seems. Countless posts on the official forums since Fm4 about cars not turning properly... wheel not going to sufficient lock when it should or countersteering automatically becoming ridiculously fast on pad with sim steering on. Very genuine issues, none of which existed untiul FM3... but it seems you want to hand-pick ME every time and bash me over "what you feel is right, and that I'm just plain wrong", by default.

You mean "Speed Demon996"? Funny you should mention them, as their gamertag is damn near identical to the one you use on xbox live (I wont post the one you actually use, as I know you keep it fairly private). Even their posting style is the same as yours, along with the things they discuss. Such as the "bite of the front tires" been different between sim steering and normal steering, to the audio of FM5 been better, right down to the fact they recently started posting about things been "scaled down" visually in FM6. I believe it was within 48 hours of you posting about it on here. Hell, they have even suggested I run tests using a pad on simulation steering because I normally use a wheel; I wonder where I have heard that one umpteen times on here?

Ooooohh....somebody's been doing their research. Well, that's a wrap Scully.. case closed.

Just wait till Assetto Corsa comes along, or even test in Pcars by removing all the speed sensitivity and filtering and see how you get on. And don't go BS people about your findings, as anyone who has played a game like Assetto or Pcars with the ability to adjust the speed sens and filtering on a pad already know the results of going 0% on both and upping the steering speed, and it ain't pretty.

Again, you keep pushing this: "remove all speed sensitivity and zero filtering"... yada yada yada..... let me remind you nicely once again: adjusting it to allow enough lock and live with consequences, NOT setting everything to zero. And, most importantly remove the invisible wire that's tying the braking and steering. Jeeees... have you even played the game on a pad for at least a few months??? No wait, don't answer that... I know you're going to write me a mini-book review about how you know the game like the back of your hand.

As I have pointed out to you before, curing understeer is not a case of adding on more steering lock, it is a case of reducing speed. This is the same in real life, it is the same in damn near every simulation based racing game, it is even the same in some arcade racers. And with oversteer, it is a case of been able to turn into the slide to keep things from going out of control and power through it. This is why you will often see my steering input go into countersteer, even when there is little to no visible slide. It is about catching things before they become an issue.

Okay, for discussion's sake.... if I'm at the right speed... and want to brake lightly going into a turn or even brake mid-turn to adjust my trajectory... the game either reduces the lock angle or won't let me go to more degrees of lock to adjust trajectory.... that is not an understeer issues... but the game not giving you immediate control as it should. Too many restrictions and filters on the pad - THAT is the problem. Only wheel users get to have those lock angles to go deep into turns. Please don't preach to me about real-life driving... I've driven and pushed enough high-powered cars IRL to know that what Forza depicts on a controller isn't completely realistic. Catching things before they become an issue - now that I can relate to. But you can't experience this on a pad.

Forza still has that issue where at times, it feels like the tires are not properly in contact with the tarmac. Slightly off-topic but related: they haven't cured the floating tire bug from Fm3. Can be seen in replays.

I do not see what that would achieve, since there is nothing wrong with where he is taking the Xbox division at the moment. This is the same sort of scaremongering BS that forced Microsoft to back peddle on what the Xbox one was originally going to be. The entire system was designed in a way that made it damn near identical to using steam on PC, but everyone had to jump onto the "lets hate on MS" bandwagon, and not give them a proper chance to explain everything. What they had proposed was actually pretty good, and truth be told here, I already bought FH2 and FM6 digital on the Xbox one. I only got FM5 on blu-ray because I wanted to be sure there was no issues with playing it on the day of release. The vast majority of the PC games I have purchased in the last decade have been through steam. I have 368 games on steam at the moment alone, and they all have built in DRM. That isnt even counting the games I own on Origin and Uplay.

So you do game on a PC then. OF COURSE you wouldn't be concerned about Forza going to PC, cos' you will be the first ones to get it. There is no "lets hate on MS" bandwagon that I'm jumping on. If that were the case, I would have gone back to the Sony console.

It is much harder and takes much longer to implement changes to a game (or any software) that is already on the open market, and when there is only a 2 year dev cycle, it means it is not worth the effort to make big changes. SMS for example only had to make such big and drastic changes to Pcars because of the mess it released in, and they have still yet to solve the space rocket bug that has been in there since the earliest of dev builds; let alone "other" issues which are well documented.

PCARS still is a mess on a controller, though much less of a mess since the original version. Filters or no filters, countersteering feels funny and restrictive on a pad. Oh boy... I'm going to get lectured on that too now....

As long as features are the same and Xbone version stays at its steady 1080p 60FPS who cares how much better the PC version looks?

Also, I have a feeling Forza on PC will have as much mod support as iRacing.

There WILL be a visual divide

Have I ever stated otherwise?

and it will drive more people away from X1.

It will? Do you have conclusive matter-of-fact evidence of this?

Many folks get em' for the exclusives.

And I don't understand how re-releasing Forza Motorsport 6 (the operative subject being the number) on the PC will affect that in any way, shape, or form. Was anyone this up in arms over absolutely nothing when Rise of the Tomb Raider released to PC last month with an emphasis on optimizations for the platform it was releasing onto?

Of course it didn't because the game had already sold over one million units before it even launched on PC, so there's that theory well out the window.

Oh, and you don't think a powerful PC is going to be needed to see the improvement in graphics? Riiiiiiiight......

Please, define what you think to be a powerful PC. Better yet, define what you think to be necessary to run these games on a PC to begin with.

And YES, for the last time, I am concerned about the game outdoing the X1 version graphically. Do you game on a PC BTW?

Because that's what'll sell the game to people that have been aching for a Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo-caliber racing game on the PC: the visuals. Not the AAA development, not the vastly superior number of cars off the cuff, not the production quality, not any redeeming quality of the game itself.

Nope. It'll be the visuals. I bought Rise of the Tomb Raider on the One, and I enjoyed everything about it so much that I bought it again on the PC last month. You wanna know what's different about it? Other than the visuals, absolutely nothing. It's the same game, same story, same mechanics, same voicework—same everything.

I don't know about the mods in Iracing, I don't know much about PCs. If Forza 6 does come to PC, and they are using the same leaderboards as XB1, and people on PC can play against people on XB1, I don't see how they can allow mods. I could be wrong, do they make performance enhancing mods for racing games? PEMs as they are known on the black market. I guess that's my point, not really point more of a question.

Depending on how good the porting process is, this might spell the end of Gran Turismo forever. Previously on PC you have hardcore sims but are lacking in content and you buy console + GT/FM for that. Now you can have both worlds on PC there's no need for console anymore.

Forza 5 was demoed on a PC:

https://gamecrastinate.com/editorials/microsoft-shows-off-forza-5-on-pc-youll-never-get-to-play-it/

W10 and Xbox architecture are very similar so making another standalone game that takes advantage of a proper gaming PC's processing power would be quite trivial.

I think this would be great for PC, open up more titles for PC gamers. 👍

I'd not get a PC just because Forza 6 was on it, but i would like it to happen as then the PC brigade who trot out the "arcade console kids" line would suddenly be talking up how wonderful Forza is.... because it really is, Inside Sim racing said they would love to have Forza running on a PC.

1. Please... let's not get into that PI crap again of fetching evidence and posting it here to satisfy your question. Look it up though: it goes by "common sense". Also along the lines of history repeating itself.

2. Don't stress yourself out too much over the re-release; you along with a number of people have a gaming PC ready and would pick up Forza in a heart-beat, so we can throw that out the window too.

3. A powerful PC? One that can play games at over 60 fps without hiccups, set to the highest detail levels and resolution. The whole 9. Please don't ask me to post specs, cos' I won't.

4. Much like Ialyrn, you keep repeating the same tune: "absolutely nothing" will change apart from visuals. Heyyy.... guess what? My ONLY concern is the visuals - X1 owners getting watered down versions. Those who can afford to move to a good PC to enjoy the boost in visuals will abandon Forza on X1 without a second thought.

Let me put this up again on a billboard for ya: NOT.... concerned.... about anything else.... but visuals. Here's hoping you won't drag the "it's the same game" hook into the discussion again.

Which version do you think sold better?

The version that came out first. And why is this discussion going towards sales? If we're talking sales, the PC version will outsell the console version even though the latter got a head start.

You don't need to spend big on a PC to be able to game on it Speedster, and they stay relevant longer than people believe they do. You will also find that "most" pc gamers don't even run everything full when it comes to graphics, especially competitive first person shooter players, who like to have maximum frames, not maximum visuals.

That comes out to £601.42, and would game pretty nicely at 1080p. You can even do a system for less than that, but it would mean dropping down to an out of date AMD cpu, or a dual core Intel core i3. But both the motherboard and PSU choices leaves some leeway for potential upgrades.

And this just goes to prove that you don't read my posts on this forum properly, otherwise you would have known a long time ago that I have a gaming PC. After all, how else do you think I play Assetto corsa, iRacing, and the countless other PC based simulation based racing games? which I often use in comparisons to Forza on both a control pad and a wheel.

Okay.... sh***t! That is a lot to be spending on a PC to begin with... yikes! But, no surprise.. if you want the very best in gaming, you gotta cough up the moolah. You got the best of both worlds eh? ;)

Oh yeah, it does prove that I sometimes skim over your posts, but so what? I don't take ANY of this too seriously. I get to come across interesting findings every now and then, and that's about it.

However, I do appreciate how thorough you are. I'm done with gaming PCs by the way, did that for a while, but you just have to make upgrades every few years.. it is (for me personally) significantly more expensive than just dishing out about $400 to $450 on a console and sticking to only that for entertainment for the next 8-10 years.

Those specs I listed are only £100 more than the Xbox one was at release, and will last a good 5 years or more before upgrades I really even potentially required. So not really that expensive in the grand scheme of things. Plus those parts are vastly more powerful that the Xbox one and PS4. You also have to look at the other things a decent PC can do though, not just gaming. Even gamer's don't buy a PC only to game on.

Thank you for the compliment.

As above, a decent setup wouldn't need upgrading for at least 5 years. The issue begins when people spend exceptionally small (sub £500) to begin with. You also get people who just fall into a trap, and they turn pc upgrading into its own hobby, a very expensive hobby.

And why should anyone else care when your reasoning is so shallow? Do you have a similar coronary whenever a multiplatform game comes out where the PS4 version is the prettier version? Did you avoid all 360 games after 2007 or so that ended up on the PC?

The version that came out first.
You mean like how the Xbone version of Forza 6 came out 5 months ago, has sold over a million copies, and the rumored PC version hasn't even been announced yet? The correct answer, however, has historically been "the console version".

And why is this discussion going towards sales?
Because Microsoft isn't going to make the version that will sell the best by a wide margin intentionally be a functionally worse game like you keep alluding to, and most people aren't so superficial that their enjoyment suffers just because a slightly better version of a game they own exists.

If we're talking sales, the PC version will outsell the console version even though the latter got a head start.
I mean, you already basically just said the opposite of your first point, but in what world has that ever been true? I guess Doom PC probably squeaked by the PSX version before it started being offered digitally. Also Minecraft too, I suppose, but the 360 version was never a slouch.

Did the enhanced PC port of Metal Gear Solid most people aren't even aware existed sell better than the 7 million copies the PSX version had? Did the equally forgotten, even more superior PC version of Driver blowout the 3 million PSX copies that game apparently sold in the US alone? Had you even heard of the graphically upgraded, otherwise identical PC port of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2? The definitive port of the original Halo? Do you want to talk about GTA III and Vice City, whose PC versions almost completely bowled over the original PS2 releases in quality? Because both of those seem to have sold either 8/10 million (respectively) or 15/17 million (respectively) on the PS2 alone, but I've personally met people who were surprised as hell when I played Vice City on my laptop.. Has the indescribably better PC port of GTA V earned Rockstar another billion dollars in 3 days like it did on the PS360?

For that matter:

You do a pretty good job right here explaining the misconceptions for exactly why PC versions of games never sell as well as the console versions, and haven't for probably 30 years. PC gamers might hold off buying a console if a game they wanted comes to PC, particularly if it does so in a better form. Console gamers have never migrated en masse to PCs just because PC versions of games tend to be better, except maybe in 1983.

You obviously did not read the discussion properly between myself and Terronium-12.
Is the implication here supposed to be that you even bothered to read the discussion between you and T12? Because a colander could have retained more information from the things T12 has told you than you seem to have.

I believe it's gotten to the point where you can't even keep your own story in-tact. Which one is it? Is the console version going to outsell the PC version because it came out first like you acknowledge with the MGS example, or is the PC version going to ring the death toll for Forza Motorsport on the Xbox—and of the Xbox itself—because of the superior visual palette?

You're attempting to have your cake, eat it, and drink a glass a milk simultaneously.

* Hey lady, I'll skim whenever I please - but that doesn't mean I appreciate the info put forward any less.

* Oh you're welcome - despite our minor scuffles.

* I tend to agree on that.. however, console just suits me better. Turn on.. pop in disc, play. No optimization necessary.

And why should anyone else care when your reasoning is so shallow? Do you have a similar coronary whenever a multiplatform game comes out where the PS4 version is the prettier version? Did you avoid all 360 games after 2007 or so that ended up on the PC?

Don't bother posting silly responses if you don't see eye to eye on this. I am only expressing my displeasure of an exclusive going to another platform - where it will 100% look better - and you're dragging multi-plat titles, PS4 and X360 into this discussion? WTF for?

You mean like how the Xbone version of Forza 6 came out 5 months ago, has sold over a million copies, and the rumored PC version hasn't even been announced yet? The correct answer, however, has historically been "the console version".

Scroll up and read again... PC can very well outdo the console version in terms of sales, because people with good PCs or the desire/accessibility to purchase a gaming PC will MOST LIKELY not get the console version. Make sense? A matter of putting 2 and 2 together. Let's not bicker over that.

Because Microsoft isn't going to make the version that will sell the best by a wide margin intentionally be a functionally worse game like you keep alluding to, and most people aren't so superficial that their enjoyment suffers just because a slightly better version of a game they own exists.

Ask yourself this question: if you knew, a better looking version is out there.. let's say not even noticeably better looking but really really better-looking, would you not buy that version? If you're getting a Forza game with unbelievable particle and lighting effects, better animation and a LOT more track detail, will you not get it (if you could0? Or will you continue to stick to the scaled back console version? Oh wait.. you wouldn't cos' you're not shallow like me and many other gamers who picked up PCARS i.e. on the PC, despite the fact that many of them own both consoles.

That is not the same thing - if they do bring this to PC, they are bringing it in a lot less time than any of the ports mentioned above. Did you take that into account? Sales figures are going to jump off the chart when it arrives on PC and its going to be a lot faster than the console figures, you wait and see. Making a console game and releasing a PC port several years later is one thing, releasing it within just a few months of the console version is another.

PC version haven't sold as well for what... 30 years?!! Where did I say that? Can you quote? Jeeeez...

It is not etched in stone... those with already a good PC or the means to buy a powerful PC will not hesitate to pick it up for Forza because PC gamers have been aching for something like Forza since the FM2 days.

Is the implication here supposed to be that you even bothered to read the discussion between you and T12? Because a colander could have retained more information from the things T12 has told you than you seem to have.

I think you are taking this a little too seriously. You can continue your rant... I am done arguing with retards like you. Hey, you win. Sleep easy.

ITT: someone makes up a bunch of "facts", still doesn't understand why that's not acceptable, and then resorts to insulting those that call him on it.

That's one infraction handed out. Maybe we can get back to a discussion that doesn't go down that particular road now.

I have a couple of questions:

Does Forza need PC as much as PC needs Forza?
Would it make any sort of headway in a (in my opinion) rather saturated PC sim market with all the games (pCARS, AC, rFactor, GTR2, GTLegends, Race 07 etc) still being actively bought and played?

I think it would. There isnt really a simcade game on the pc with the amount of cars and customization options that Forza has. Most games on the PC tend to concentrate on being a sim and providing good motorsports.

I don't think it's ever bad to expand your userbase. What worries me, if it really drops on PC is how multiplayer is going to be handled. It's not a matter of "if" a game will be modded/hacked but when. Though, it seems studios are making progress with anti-piracy tactics so anything's possible.*

I think there's a chance for it to flourish. I think, though, there'd be an even better chance for Forza Horizon.

*Denuvo was cracked for ROTTR but progress is progress, I guess.

Anyway:

No. While Microsoft for certain has never made the amount of money on the series that Sony has with Gran Turismo and probably never will, the series still sells much better than any other equivalent game on the platform and always has.
But this whole broadening the Xbox range idea seems to be a response to how much dedicated PC sales have been slipping for the past 5 years or so, and a nicely marketed selection of big name games ordinarily only the Xbone coupled with the resurgence the platform has had for the past couple years anyway might be a good way to try and stem that tied. Plus it would nicely dovetail with an attempt to cut off SteamOS at the knees.

The PC market is very saturated for racing sims (and really always has been going back to the 1980s), but there hasn't really been a racing game on PC with the Gran Turismo game structure since the original Sega GT was ported to Windows (or maybe Porsche Unleashed the year before that). Most PC sims are way, way more narrow in scope. rFactor is too user unfriendly to really be comparable. Test Drive Unlimited could be (and still is) compared to the Horizon games, but that's a decade old. You can sorta see it in NFS Pro Street if you squint, but even that is pretty old now.

Speaking of PC ports going almost completely unnoticed...Sega GT had a Windows port?!?

Forza Motorsport is somewhat related to PC sims, but not very. I mean, we're talking about mostly staid motorsports simulators with fewer cars to choose from, all professional racecars, barebones gameplay structures, and zero or few fantasy or street-based circuits. Anything but professional-style racing in official cars on official circuits was beyond their scope, like Tornado was saying. In that space, a Forza Horizon game on PC would stand out even more, a reprise of FH1's unprecedented marriage of arcade-style open world action with simulation-style physics and Forza's depth of content.

Neither of the Forza properties would appeal to the stuck-up motorsports sim purists that congregate around games like the ones you mentioned, but there's nothing else like the Forza games on PC, so it would be a bit of a different market. I was a PC gamer around the time Gran Turismo 3 came out, and I might have never bought my PS2 or XB360 if there had been a comparable series to follow on PC.

I think this is more about MS trying to bite Steam's market share rather than a serious pull in the PC market.

More and more I keep hearing about Microsoft taking exclusives to PC (like Quantum Break, which was also a hot topic a few days ago), yet all of this is under the banner of their own private distribution system (which would end up with PC games locked behind a DRM-like system).

Microsoft wants to compete in all markets, which in all honesty is a very complicated thing to do, games like Arkham Knight were atrociously ported to PC, meaning that they need to check the quality of these games for different graphic cards, processors, hard drives, etc... GFWL was a disaster in terms of digital distribution and some publishers outright gave up supporting them (GTA IV being the prime example of this, along with Dark Souls, if I want to play GTA IV online I need to use an account on XBL that I haven't use in 4 years, and install the client-based program that starts asking for an upgrade to Win X).

I own a PC and I'm a little bit skeptical about this, I don't like the main FM games but I do like Horizon games, and it would suck if I had to switch to Windows X and go through a GFWL-like thing, these game being heavily dependent on online connection might suffer the same fate, if Windows decided to offer Horizon or FM6 on GOG I see no problem, but MS is making it clear that they want to use their own marketplace to offer them, and I'm sorry but without a serious revamping of GFWL (or a new distribution system) I hardly see that working.

A modified version of Forza Horizon would be a instant buy for me if it's offered on Steam or GOG, but I hardly see that happening.

@Akira AC -- I empathise, but for the Forza fans who haven't migrated from the XB360, I think jumping through the Windows 10 hoop is marginally easier to accept compared to a whole console. It would still be good news, in spite of the attached strings.

Haven't they killed off GFWL some time ago? From what I remember, Windows 10 has something called "Xbox on Windows 10". However, I'm not sure how that one handles buying games (PC titles), etc.

This is exactly why PC ports aren't a big deal for consoles. People who purchase hardware because they're looking for the absolute best version of a game are on PC already. People buy consoles for the convenience. That's not going to change any time soon, probably ever.

If anything, I'd think it would work the other way around. With it becoming easier to get PC and indy games ported to the consoles, I think there's a lot of people that would say "Why am I putting up with dealing with this PC when I could just get a console and have stuff work out of the box?"
