I listened to it live earlier today, nothing new at all.

Repeat after me: "Over 700 cars, over 30 locations, 4K, HDR, and GT2 RS"

Ooh so all the "Stay Tuned" and "No Comment" features from E3 have been cancelled? :( Damn I was soooo much looking forward to those since they seemed to be the very core of the new game and appeared in every section of the game!

Maybe the next installment then :
Forza Motorsport 8 - The Stay Tuned Edition

  • Graeme Boyd (Aceybongos) and Bill Giese do a deep dive into Forza Motorsport 7.
  • The build they're showing is the "behind closed doors" version that media have been seeing all week (running on Xbox One X).
  • Garage-themed homespace shown.
  • Turn 10 have been building 4K assets ever since work started on Forza Motorsport 6.
  • 5 main tabs: Home / Single Player / Multiplayer / Cars / Progress
  • Forza Drivers Cup: Split into 6 Series. Those Series are then using the Car Divisions for individual events/Championships.
  • There's an "Open Division" that lets you race whatever you want.
  • Showcases return, tied in with people like Ken Block, Magnus Walker etc. (similar to Forza Motorsport 6).
  • The cars you race in the Showcases can only be earned in Showcases (and presumable the Auction House).
  • Driver Gear is split into multiple categories: All / Forza Favourites / Pop Culture / Team Colours / A-Z
  • There's a "Crate System" to help unlock these, a [Buy Crates] button was spotted (presumably works like "Loot Boxes" in other games).
  • Gameplay of Suzuka in a storm.
  • Assists no longer affect CR payout, it's all in the Mod system now, which returns from Forza Motorsport 6.
  • "Good Pass", "Perfect Turn" etc. mid-race notifications return.
  • A "Caution Ahead" notification comes up when you approach a section of track where a car has gone off.
  • Mods, XP and CR are given out after a Single Player race.
  • When you level up you get a choice of rewards.
  • The more cars you own, the higher your Collection Tier will be. This Tier is displayed on your profile and others can see it. A higher tier scales up the rewards you get.
  • Multiplayer main menu: Multiplayer / Leagues / Forza Hub / Forza TV / Forza Gallery / Message Center
  • Players can broadcast in 4K to Mixer.

  • Digital Foundry discuss the Forza Motorsport 7 footage they captured at Gamescom
  • Gameplay locked to 60fps
  • Menus and race introduction cinematics locked to 30fps
  • Replays: Unknown (previous games were locked to 30fps, although Gran Turismo 3 was 60fps everywhere)

  • Prize Crates are similar to Mod Packs from Forza Motorsport 6.
  • Mod Packs are also returning.
  • Prize Crates are bought with in-game CR and not real-world currency.
  • Prize Crates contain cars, driver gear, mod cards etc.
  • There are multiple types of Prize Crates available, with more expensive ones giving you rarer items.
  • A "Specialty Dealer" will be selling rare cars for limited amounts of time.
  • Forza Editions and other rare cars can be bought from the Specialty Dealer, but only 1 car will be available during each sale period.

Was just about to post this. Very encouraging vid. Like the idea of the TOD being random every time a track loads. Game is going to be awesome.

I think this vid is the first time I have heard any actual confirmation of time of day being Dynamic. If true I hope there are options to adjust time scale to simulate a 24hour race in a shorter time period. I would love to host a 1 hour Race at Spa/Nurburgring/Le Mans/Daytona in GT racecars with timescale set to get the full day-night cycle within the race.

This could become a nuisance. Imagine you're trying to race with an Indycar, for instance. You load the Nordschleife and "Surprise, it's dark! Just a shame you don't have headlights. Have fun without the driving line you turned off".

Or then you start the race and it's still daylight but, halfway through, it gets dark and you're in the lead, only now blind.

It would get annoying pretty quick to have to reload a track over and over again to get race-able conditions.

Maybe T10 have thought of that and it will be slightly less random for cars without headlights, no?

  • Final list of car reveals.
  • Infographics about the car roster.

Great thread, PJTierney.

Unfortunately I am still not sold on the game. I have waited for some big reveal or something dramatic in the PR to make me want to buy it day one. Incredible how flat the lead up has been for this one. A few Horizon cars and some added FM4 to the roster is not enough to sway me to spend full price on it. Turn 10 obviously know that the game has brought little new to the table and is happy to focus on the development of the new Xbox version. A shame really. Or maybe just a question of manpower or the quick two year time cycle?

I plan to play FM6 and PC2 for the next 12 months and wait to see how this one develops after patches and dlc.

Maybe they're focusing more on post release support this time? Developers seem keen on pushing esports these days. Maybe in order to better facilitate that push they need to keep bringing in new stuff to entice players to stick around longer.

Another thing to note, as far as I know this is the first time a Forza and Gran Turismo are releasing in the same year. Let's not forget that these are the guys who dethroned GT pretty much as soon as they started making their games. I'm betting they have something special in mind to steal GTS's thunder in a big way come mid October. If you were them, could you resist such an opportunity?

FM5 and GT6 both came out in 2013. And technically, GT5 Prologue and FM2 came out in the same year as well. (2007)

If the past is anything to go by, you're just going to have your usual comparison videos and threads, with the die-hards on both sides arguing that their game is the best. The debates may get more heated than usual.

I've never noticed one game directly try to one-up the other, except for when the GT5 Spec 2.0 update released one day before FM4's release.

The GT-R LM, is that a typo by T10 or are they really giving us that FWD abomination on a wet track?

Should be interesting with no assists.........

It's exactly the same three races available in the playable demo at E3 earlier this year. Not that that's a bad thing IMO.
