Forza Motorsport 7 Will Feature an Overhauled Career Mode

So torn right now this or GT Sport.... xbox or playstation.....

What about both? I picked up a secondhand Xbox One S in January because I couldn't stand waiting to play around with a livery editor in a new game similar to GT. So I got FM6 and FH3. I planned to sell it this month, but the way FM7 sounds, it sounds too good to pass up. The graphics doesn't impress me much (still that light blob outside the headlight) but all in all it sounds like a decent game.

I hate to have two consoles haha

I have the same "problem" as you guys... three great racing games, all available between September and November. However, after seeing some E3 gameplay and looking at the promised features, i have to say i will stick with Project Cars 2 for the time being. I will be able to play this game on my Pro in high resolution (i hope for checkerboard 4K, i think it's possible) using my G29.

I won't bother playing Forza 7 on the old Xbox in 1080p with bad AA again and i don't own a wheel for the Xbox so... buying an Xbox One X AND a new FFB wheel with wheel stand just for Forza 7? This would cost me about 900 Euros. From what i have seen so far of Forza 7, this is not justified. Of course this will be a cool game but i'm looking for the "true" motorsport and racing experience and i think PCars 2 will deliver just that.

There are little things about Forza 7 i don't like... the silly driver animations when you select a car. The fact we have seen almost no new cars so far. The fact the whole game is such a "show-off" with its over-the-top presentation. Looking at the E3 footage with all these GT race cars we already know from Forza 6... all with the same livery again... i don't know. It just looks like "more of the same" to me. And i don't think this game is aiming to be a proper sim. It's more like a jack of all trades, the kind of game Gran Turismo used to be with it's 700+ cars.

New career mode sounds good, but if PCars 2 sticks with the career mode concept of the first game, i think there is no way Forza 7 can top that. To each their own, but i LOVED the career mode in PCars. I opened a whole new perspective on sim racing and motorsport for me. This was the game that got me into motorsport. Before this game, i was just interested in fast road cars. Now i'm visiting the Nürburgring in real-life on a regular basis and watching Le Mans on TV. So i want more of that - the true motorsport feel, being able to do huge championships in career mode.

I will get GT Sport as well, it will have the best car porn ever and i really enjoyed the beta. So yeah... for me it's PCars 2 first, then GT Sport. I will wait with Forza 7, maybe i will get an Xbox One X with this game sometime next year, or maybe not.

700 cars is crazy... fair play to turn 10...

For me I'll stick to PCars 2 and GTS - would love to get Forza7 but don't have the dough for a XboX - anyhow, this whole mid-gen upgrade thing means owners of the older consoles don't get left out. This is a good thing, I think.

Hopefully this drivers cup is similar to Horizon's blueprint (which it looks like it will be) in that we can specify the eligible cars, number of laps and special conditions such as time/weather

If so, then hopefully we can do the same in the quick race mode for custom events/championships.

Apparantly wheels that work on the Playstation will work in Forza Motorsport 7, as well. Which ones those are, we don't know yet, but this is definitely looking up for me because I was torn with this decision when i finally get a PS4. If I can get a g29 to work on both consoles, that would be amazing. Yeah if you're looking for a True motorsport/sim experience I would say Pcars is the one for you. FM, even though Motorsport is in the title, isn't that, and is much more lighthearted. Not a bad thing though

I'm indifferent about the driver animations, I'll just have to wait to see how I feel when I actually get the game, although its not really a deal breaker of any sorts. As for new cars, it's not what T10 has ever done, all the new stuff gets released as the months pass towards release. The good thing about not changing liveries, is that we can make any liveries we want, those should, much like GTS might end up being too. I would say check back in about a month or two, thats when all the information will start rolling out.

Still waiting for the day when FM adds in a real career mode, with qualifying, penalty system and longer time based races.
I heard that there was going to be penalty systems in place in multiplayer, but I'm not sure if it'll be in Single. However, we are basically going to get control of how the Single player plays out for the most part, so hopefully thats a tick in the right direction. Qualifying, I'm not so sure that'll be in though.

700 cars, this is great. But how long would it take to own a quarter of them. As Gran Turismo 6 and the last Forzas, I fear that the prices might be too high.

Forza games are very...generous. It's very easy to earn money in Forza, especially in rivals modes as you'll just get lost in trying to beat peoples lap times.

Same. I wanna recreate so many Gran Turismo events in FM7. 👍

I play a lot in rivals modes but as GT6 there are too much cars costing at least hundreds of thousands of credits.

I've been sitting on 35 million on Forza 6 since the beginning stages of its release. Hell, I even won a Prize Spin for millions of credits multiple times. Forza Horizon I don't have as much, maybe a couple of million, but thats because I hardly play it. These games throw credits at you like no other.

The fact we have seen almost no new cars so far.

Seems you're new to the Forza world of doing things: that tends to be the case at the reveals. FM7 does seem even lower than normal, but new cars are usually trickled out in the weekly car reveal articles the team does over the summer.

There's very much a plan of showcasing certain things at each event. This initial reveal was the new track and dynamic weather/time (I thought the latter would get more of a response from sim racers). Gamescom will probably show off more cars and another new track, and Bill told us to expect more details on the career mode out of that show too.

It's all a very well-oiled machine: you get the sense every release of info has been mapped out. That's why that FH3 dev build getting into the wild was such a surprise!

Also, about the same liveries on cars: with a fully functional livery editor, it's not really much of an issue. You'll have all the latest liveries within days of the game's release anyway.

Not at all. I bought every single game and watched really close what they were doing prior launch. I get your point and i'm sure there will be some surprises and new unveils till the game releases, even more with dlcs. However, i still think that i wouldnt have hurt to put at least two or three new GT cars on the track at E3.

On PC, we will be able to use the G29, i think. But on Xbox? I thought this was a no go. Could be a game changer for me if this would work, though.

Then you should know by now how things work with their releases. They've been doing it this way for quite some time now.

Yeah that was a misunderstanding on my part, I just looked it up and initially didn't notice it was talking about PC. Thats a bummer for me, if we can't.

You haven't see the new Porsche 2018 911 GT2 RS (991.2) ???

Someone also spotted a Corvette C6 GT2. Regardless of two new cars spotted and what Forza usually does at E3, I'd say @RaceFuchs's sums it up rather well. Too many things about the reveal felt too familiar, and I think the announcement of dynamic weather (and perhaps time) has taken a small blow after it has been said to only affect some tracks. Those who hoped for a more serious direction for Forza Motorsport were left with little to get excited about, and then there's all the uncertainties unless you're going to be part of the expensive Xbox One X and 4K club.

Most of this will change in the coming months, so there's no point in making all the racing game buying decisions just yet.

AR12 said the reason for the lack of dynamic weather on all tracks was to incorporate a sense of realism in regards to each enviroment's real world weather; Dubai not getting massive thunderstorms as the prime example.

I'm not personally buying that, but that seems to be the reasoning for now.
