@UKMikey , it was confirmed the next Xbox is actively in development, so the comment on "the next Xbox console is basically [a handheld]" is not true. It also seems to confirm their intentions on full backwards compatibility.I think it's just speculation running on Microsoft heavily pushing the, "[This] is an Xbox" & showing a different device.
But, I mean, as soon as you Google next Xbox console, there's already a 24 hour old story about how Microsoft is apparently not abandoning a new console & that it will run "Series x, One, & X360" backwards compatibility, so I don't think anyone truly knows.
The news confirms Microsoft's plan to release another home Xbox console as well as an Xbox handheld. No release date was mentioned, but Bond did say "we can't wait to show you what's next."

They are still pushing the desire to play your Xbox games on any device and integrate PC gaming into their plans, but yeah, there's a console coming after all.
