I've always had a weak spot for the G class Merc... :)

G-wagons are awesome, I want one in AMG form. What's not to love about a 500hp off road machine that can also double as a blinged out urban cruiser?

Sounds like a Hummer H2 (minus about 100hp).

Unless of course you mean a blinged out urban cruiser that can take corners at faster than 20mph! ;)

I think it weighs about half of what the Hummer does though..

hm. With 14 inches of travel on the rear shocks, and as far back as they are...yeah, 20 inches wouldn't be too unrealistic to expect, especially on a cantilevered setup like that.

Which reminds me...

Take a look at where the shocks are on this truck, Kirk Dabney's "Extreme Overkill"...not at the wheels like most monsters nowadays, but near the center of the truck. Mass centralization, Incredibly long travel, and lower center of gravity (the engine's entirely below the body!) Means that this truck was a serious contender back in the late '90s...before that scourge called "Freestyle" tarnished the reputation of the sport...

My friend Evan finally got his Grand's lift together. We wanted to go wheeling last night but our spot was totally flooded by the river so instead we just went looking for some piles of crap to flex on. These particular ones aren't at full flex but i thought they looked pretty triumphant. This truck has been through a lot in the last 5 years so it's good to see it ready to rumble.

He needs to get some quick disconnects for the front sway. It seriously hurts the travel, but the rears tuck all the way up in the fenders. Hellaflush, lol.

I'd suggest a Wrangler, since it still comes with a solid front axle (and front/rear lockers on the Rubicon) as well as a removable roof and large aftermarket support. :sly:

I want creature comforts. FJ > Wrangler when it comes to creature comforts. I just like the look of a lifted FJ (or truck/Jeep/whatever for that matter). I doubt I would actually take it offroad anyhow. Nothing serious anyway.

The new 4Runner could probably do everything the FJ could, with more power and more comfort.

But it'll never look as awesome as the FJ.

Hell, I'd buy an FJ for looks alone. I love that blue one with blacked out taillights and the black rims!

If you like the looks of the FJ, that's fine. The Wrangler does have the same amount of creature comforts though! ;)

'cept the road noise, even if you get a "freedom top" hardtop. Remember that it's basically a convertible.

I've only seen one Ford Ranger uploaded. I love the Ranger, so I'll upload a few:

This picture made me laugh

Fond memories of the 3 liter Ranger turbodiesel. That was one of the first drive tests I did for our online magazine:

Wonderful truck. Great 5-speed automatic, mountains of torque, good four-wheel drive system and a rear LSD (perfect for doing donuts on tarmac).

Only issue is that the stock truck could do with a less bulky front bumper, to allow it to climb steeper grades... and obviously... stock tires aren't up to the abuse...

We also did the seven-seater version of the Ranger, the Everest, during the same test:

Since then, the Everest owner has added a winch and ARB bumpers... and has raised his truck. Not a serious off-road build, but goes incredibly far off-road for a nearly-stock truck, and being an old-school diesel, is nuclear-war proof, to boot.

That reminds me...

It's the Lon Ranger! (Wheres Tonto?)

Ms. Bigfoot. Apparently had a 1000HP Ford 460..."really overpowered little Ranger!" Bob once said...Not to mention, this one was driven by an all female crew. (Oddly enough, the name is making a comeback this season on a full-sized Bigfoot truck!)

This was built at a 4x4 place that specialises in Land/Range rovers opposite my house in England.
It does 50mph think of the off road fun you could have in it.

It didn't resize on upload sorry.

I used tinypic.com

Nah, our forum doesn't resize pics automatically. But, yeah, I've seen the cat-track conversions. (I've also seen a land Rover Monster truck, but I can't find any pics aside from a site which hates hotlinking enough to forbid right clicks.)
