They look like extra shiny cars. With a little thinking, take away the shiny-ness and you get Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2 graphics. Very odd...

PS3 sends that data to servers and car actually driven are logged and clearly visible to all. So that statistic is a doable thing.

But I don't think Yamauchi-san will follow that line. If upgrade will be set with GT5 DLCs, he will whip his designers to upgrade cars he likes. After all, we are all in his big dream, which mostly I like, rather than in the Sony business and customer's thoughts

My 2 cents are for fresh DLC new cars, not standard upgrades.
Do you think is better a new Reventon or an upgraded Countach25th?

I honestly dont ever see that happening. If it took 6 years to render 200 (20%)cars as premium, its simple math to figure out how long it will take to do the other 800 (80%).

I would LOVE to see all the cars converted to premium but thats just something that is not going to happen.

6 years to render 200 cars? Don't forget about the tracks, gameplay, physics, menu's, music, Tourist Trophy and Gran Turismo PSP.

Formula GT shouldn't be premium, it doesn't even have an interior..

I think "upgraded to premiums" may be a bit of a tall order, but perhaps a higher visual definition may be a more expectable probability. There's no reason that this shouldn't be the case for cars in the standards lineup that already have premium models represented in the game.
They could take the base layer of things like R32, R33 and R34 Skylines for example, which all have premium models, they should be easiest to transfer, as most changes during their release years will be minor facelifts and the engine specs slightly different.
A few visual tweaks and the direct transfer of the driving physics is all this would entail.
Also, given that despite full weight reductions, the cars still retain the stock dashboards, these too could be included. A stock skyline dash from 2002 isn't going to have changed much from a stock dash from 2000, so could also be used for the cockpit view.
Just my opinion, but this could be the best, and quickest, way forward in moving the game's definition to the next level.

It will just be Veyrons, LM cars etc.

Personally, I think the least used cars should get the treatment.

i think purely and intirely out of respect, cars like the Veyron, Supra, Cobra R, Shelby GT350, ZO6 Race car, and jaguar E-Type, are some of the biggest named cars that should be converted.

The FGT being standard doesn't even make sense, it's their car, they can make it look like whatever they wanted, it could be like the tardis and have a massive inside if they really wanted to, they don't need to visit a car dealership and take mm by mm measurements.
