Full Details released on upcoming DLC!

To me, it is, if I have to tell the truth. I can't stand in GT5:
- Supercars
- Racecars
- One-off cars

I like in GT games that I can drive pretty much any genre of car from almost any era. However, I like classic cars, and I like race cars, so this works for me, but I can also appreciate why it doesn't for others.

Note that I am just as happy to have the new DLC '66 Beetle as I am the Aston Martin and the Lamborghini 👍 Jury is out on the Nissan Leaf though...

Supercars and Racecars are what makes GT5 happen. With out them, What is a race game... ?

Some just like other types of cars, there's more than just supercars and racecars even though I do enjoy them.
I could make an entire list of cars which don't qualify as either supercar or racecar yet would make GT5 a much more interesting driving game in my opinion.
I'm more excited about the '66 Beetle than the rest of the DLC, even though I'll be buying several Aventadors, V12 Vantages too and will enjoy the Jaguar XJR-9 very much.
But I won't ask for another uninspiring hypercar like a Koenigsegg, instead I'd prefer a Premium 2CV (no really) or something really unique which currently isn't offered like vintage cars (from the twenties and thirties) or big luxurious saloons like a Rolls-Royce for example.
Variety is what's needed, not more of the same thing.

Already got ideas for Route X

Top Speed Test with RUF CTR2 fully tuned.
Can you break 400MPH in an X2010/X2011?
Maxing out a CVT transmission on a car (usually requires a lot of speed)
And of course...Drag Racing

Who knows, maybe they'll have a Like The Wind Seasonal with Route X and Special Stage Route 7 in it?

This dlc is brilliant, it even gave me thoughts to buy the previous one that IMO was rubbish (except the GT-R)
One thing though,
Why convert a Standard car to Premium via DLC? the car pack without it, is still is a very good pack, Unless it has totally different colours or is a version that we or I dont know.
But, If thats not the case then, some decisions must be taken by monkeys in PDI.

Uninspiring car? Koenigsegg?
..... Did I read that wrong?
You mean a TT V8 pushing over 1000hp to the rear wheels only.
Is Uninspiring?
You mean a Body that produces enough downforce to pull 1.6G Laterally.
Is Uninspiring?
Have you seen one in real life?
(Agera R Of coarse)

^^^ you can reach every car's max speed on SSR7 already? even the x2011

Supercars and Racecars because in GT5 they pretty much imply racing soft tire, high PP low quality online racing against kids who don't know how to drive and behave. Also, in GT5 to me it appears that the faster a car is, the less realistic its behavior and dynamics are. And putting aside this, I don't have much interest in them anyway.

One-off cars, mostly because generally they don't appeal much to me, either because they are custom variations of more common production base cars (ex: the Transcammer. I would have preferred seeing the original Mustang as a premium model instead) that would have been more worthy of inclusion, or because they are cars so rare or uncommon that in GT5 most likely also have fantasy handling characteristics.

Agreed that there is an element that uses the cars like that, but I choose not to join them in their "fun", and I'm all the happier for it!

No you didn't read that wrong and impressive performance figures aren't equal to being inspiring or not.
Now for example the 2011 Morgan 3 wheeler pictured below doesn't need a lot of power to bring a big grin on your face.
It's unique, has tons of character and if included it would offer something not already in the game or which experience could basically be reproduced by tuning another supercar (to behave in essence like the Koenigsegg).

Point taken.
But really.. If you look at it like that.
Only ridiculous road cars like that one.
Can not be reproduced.
Example: The Note Of the LFA could be reproduced by some other car company, therefore Lexus (LFA in perticular) has no Character? Every Thesis has it's flaws. Just found yours.

I understand your thoughts, but it takes more then just being an odd-ball car, to have character

I see what you're saying. A premium DeLorean would be perfect. It would be refreshing from the stripped down racing interiors and modern sports car interiors. It is definitely has a unique interior from the '80's which would be fun to experience. For example, you could pretend you are in the Back to the Future Time Machine. It would definitely be a fan favorite in my opinion. And seriously, it would be cool if they had a race modification option that made it look like the BTTF time machine. The interior would be awesome! But of course licensing would get in the way of this, so its highly unlikely it will ever happen.

Am I the only one excited for the Aston?

I wonder if we have a new Drag Race main stream car, at our disposal??
Look out Corvette ;)

.. probably not

either way, I'm glad we have an aston that can really get around a track now

Carlos Fandango

Really? If you're going to claim this I want a source. Name at least one other person who is excited for the Aston. /Sarcasm

Well all sarcasm aside, there is one model in the Aston Martin range that fits that criteria..

No ofcourse what I find inspiring isn't objective but highly subjective so no doubt my theory has flaws, just wanted to bring a counterpoint to the seemingly neverending requests for more and more supercars which already (objectively) form a large percentage of the Premium selection.

GT games to me are about variety and offering an eclectic range of cars, not just one category already being predominant and constantly being demanded to grow without an apparant knowledge displayed, mostly, about car history in general nor an appreciation of the riches it offers outside the realms of 15000 horsepower behemoths going 350 mph and which all look like they were designed by the same uninspiring ruleset.

The Old Vantage we have ?
I believe its a 99 V8 Vantage not sure.. I hate that car. a lot.

Ohhhh! I actually do understand where your coming from now, I do realize that a game like GT5 needs to offer many Character rich cars, But I can never agree with the Uninspired Koenigsegg line.

No the Cygnet... but lets not turn this into a general car discussion:p

I'm beginning to suspect that route x will be featured in the seasonals for the X2011.

If I remember right Kaz said they wouldn't be converting standards to premiums in the DLC. Maybe .
I seriously hope not, The only cars that should be in paid dlc are cars not already in the game. I dont see the point of the leaf either, Its there to make up the numbers the cheaky swines, This dlc is a step in the right direction but pd still need to step it up, e need 5-6 new tracks and a good quantity and good quality of cars in one dlc, The scraps they are feeding us get boring very quick.

The XJR9 is one of the cars that just barely wasn't finished in time for the final release, together with the VW Scirocco (included in the previous car pack DLC) and the Ferrari 365GTB/4 (not included yet).

Yamauchi said it here: http://www.famitsu.com/news/201012/16036986.html
Akira, were there any other cars Kaz mentioned in that interview that have not seen the light of day yet? Or is it just those 3?

Well, ofcourse you like it and I don't so we aren't going to resolve that. ;)

Actually, I hope they'll include it so I won't read about that contraption anymore. (and then you all start demanding the next 'it' car which is even faster....:grumpy:)

The Leaf is a historically significant car, GT has always made it a point to include historically significant cars. Tossing it in the pack with a few highly desirable cars is a good way to expose people to it.

Just those three, and they were examples, so there might have actually been more that were almost ready when GT5 was released. I think one of them might have been the '66 VW Beetle which will be introduced in the next car pack DLC. They must have got photos and data of it at the same time as the Kuebelwagen, the Schwimmwagen and the Sambabus.
