Funny Easter Egg

Why?! Why waste time on stuff like that when your only supposed to see for a split second. Yes, it took six years to get what we got, and you want them to take more time for little insignificant details?!?

So, they cannot model the undercarriage of a vehicle, arguably the most important part of the car, but they can take the time to model a seat-belt inside said vehicle?

When are we ever going to see that?

Here is the picture of the underside of the actual model (I some how managed to break the rear spoiler in the process :() .

Sorry about the quality of the image.

Mine broke off a long time ago, I used some crazy glue to get it back together though!

I more than have a sense of humour (and can spell it, just to prove it), but this "Easter Egg" isn't funny, it just shows what the development team REALLY used for their car models.

The 'net is gradually filling up with GT5's inadequacies now, so these little "Gifts" from the production crew really are more laughable by the day. Still the mystery remains - what where they doing for six years? Because it certainly wasn't modelling cars.

Obviously you dont. If a freakin "1/18 nissan skyline" decal on the bottom of the car gets to you, then thats stupid. Who gives a ****? Just play the game. Its even more stupid that you actualyl think its an error on PD. RIGHT, because they are going to spend 180 days on one single car to get it perfect, yet they model it off of a toy car.... LMAO....ok...right.

obviously an easter egg. herp derp

Are you sure about that? The undercarriage is that much important in a video game? :scared:

180 days on one car is an easter egg for ya.

With their team and budget that's a lie, or they spend way too much time on nothing.

Lol my side mirror came off, nephew dropped it :(

He probably means where all the major functional moving parts are.

surely he was, and surely that is an important part of a car, but I don't think it is important in terms of modeling in a video game.

Too much time on nothing? Have you even looked at the detail of the premium cars?! You can see the writing on the headlight bulbs! the detail on the cars are unbelievable. theres no way they would spend that much time on detail and then modell the bottom of the car off a toy. your a fool to think that.

Yet they still sound like crap and some drive like crap. They could of just laser scanned the cars and it would have taken far less time since all that detail would be in the point cloud.

And honestly...who cares if we can see the writing on the headlights? There's other things that could have used the development time.

*You're by the way.

I aggree with the first statement (Buik Special 62 or Nascars, anyone? Eventhough I have to admit that I have never heared so nice sounding hair dryers before), but can`t do it on the latter.

Every car I drove till now was special, none felt like the other. The difference between a Gallardo and Murcielago is huge, just like the difference between a 430 Scuderia, F430 or 458 Italia. I have never felt something like this in a video game before, I guess that Im not the only one who made the mistake to buy NFS:S here, right? This game had very poor driving physics, a Murcielago felt just like a Gallardo with more power, the Mclaren F1 was jumping all over the road (eventhough this was patched) and the Mclaren SLR handled like a 800kg/600hp race car and not like a 1.8 ton Mercedes.

Yes, its somehow a dissappointment to find out, that they modelled the underneath of the car by using a toy, but I can`t really point my finger on them and say "What have you guys been doing the last 5 years!".

Do you know that looking at the underneath of a car and making high quality photos of it isn`t that easy and cheap as it sounds like? Especially on rare classics like a Miuara?
Are you really assuming that Kaz can ask the Ferrari Boss "Hey Luca, can we lift up your 330P4 race car and take some photos of it? Won`t take that long" "Ok, don`t worry buddy" "Yeah, thank you, can we also do the same on a F10? I`m sure that the Mclaren team is to dumb to flip the Ferrari F10 in GT5 to take a close look at your diffusor!" "Yeah, why not!"

Get the freaking CAD drawings from the manufacturer! Its 2010, they really shouldn't be needing to take photos of the cars to do the bulk of the modeling from.

@ original post: WOW what a screw up, im a huge fan of GTs graphics since game 1, but that is crap, no axel, no internal wheel model, exhaust that goes to nowhere and as someone else said it looks worse than PS2 graphics, Note to PD if you make cars flip do the maths.

Also its worth noting that its been widely known that PD use model cars to make ingame car models, they have shown this on many studio walk thrus, surely all you know this already?
And on that note IMO its not an easter egg but an epic screw up(not punt intended for screw under car) from the team doing that particular car, half ass job and Kas should be kicking someone's butt when he see's this pathetic effort.

I study mechanical engineering myself and I doubt that you will find CAD drawings for about 70% of GT5 car roster.
Plus you will never get your hands on a CAD drawing from any race car.

I don't think anyone is claiming it ruins the game. I think they are feeling it may represent laziness and sloppiness on pds part and brings into question how these cars were modeled and whether they were really done as thoroughly and time consumingly as pd lead us to believe. It plays a roll in the "what have they been doing this whole time?" Question.

Boy, you will take any and every opportunity to criticize PD, huh? Whether it's an easter egg or not, it does NOT mean that they have mislead us to believe modeling takes so long. What, do you think they probably put the models in scanning machines, and out pops a 3D GT5 model? And, I mean, it's on only 1 car as far as we know, and unless there's any other proof of it being a model car, your argument is invalid.

What does it eat?:indiff:

My dust.

I also suspect this is an intentional Easter egg, mainly due to the fact that AUTOart made models of several Polyphony cars, such as the two Gran Turismo R34 Skyline GT-R pace cars, along with both the race Ford GT LM Spec II and the naked carbon fiber version. Also, my 1/18 AUTOart R34 GT-R doesn't look quite like that underneath...

They probably laser scanned toy cars, it's very fast and efficient method to get 3D model

They didn't laser scan anything...they'd flaunt those point clouds around so much if they did.

Well that is unless they didn't want to admit that's how they did it and wanted to tell people they worked meticulously to hand create these and it took months because they did it in such a careful way ;)

are you guys moron's or something there are pics of the in game car and pics of irl scale model the underneath's are quite clearly different...

I can go take a pic of the underneath of my R34 GTR for you and dare say it will be quite different again from both of them....

You guys whine about the lack of detail in the models have you ever driven any of the real cars ? let alone on a racetrack? the physic's in game to the cars I have driven in real life, is pretty much spot on... Z32,R32, R33, R34, S13,14,15...Supra's....

Show me a bigger better more detailed racing game and i'll digress...

Physic's do a game make, eye candy can only do so much...

It's a ****in easter egg...
