Problem is that the 360 never should of RRoD in the first place. Do you think someone would spend their time and money to fix something that Microsoft never made 100% robust? Other consoles have broken down before but not at the failure rate that the 360 has done.

Not very good at things like that. If it is as easy as you say, why haven't microsoft done it yet? I guarantee I'd buy one if they did.

Doing so would require a reworking of the form factor of the machine. The PCB would need to be either re-positioned, or rebuilt. Most of which they've already done. I do believe that most of the issues are resolved now though.

The main issue with them though, is the fact that no one keeps them in the correct place. Carpets, entertainment centers, cramped spaces with no air. It only makes the issue come about quickly. If you take care of it, and place it in a good spot, you won't have any issue.

It's been a while since I fixed a RRoD, probably a year or two now? But if I recall correctly, it's a matter of taking the whole thing apart and reapplying thermal paste to some parts, and putting it back together. Pretty simple really.

The problem with the original 360 is that fresh air got pushed in by two 60mm fans through a air duct. All of this heat is pushed to the front of the console so if you postioned the console vetically the heat would be trapped behind the DVD drive as there is little clearance under the drive and none above it. It's a design that is bound to fail. In the horizontal position most of the air moves in the direction opposite from the DVD drive. Another problem is that the heatsink under the DVD drive is trapped and it would not be very easy for the air to leave the heatsink until it reaches to the front of the console where it moves to the left and right side. In my mind it's a design that is bound to fail after you add dust from gaming all of the time

The new 360 Slim has a larger 110-120mm fan over the heatsink and now has even more room to push heat out even through the thin area under the DVD drive. If a slim DVD drive was used instead of a regular sized DVD drive there would be room to push more hot air out from the top. It's something I wished Microsoft could of done to help clear space for the heat.

I personally find that the 360's design is counter productive compared to the PS3. The PS3's design(in both the phat model and slims) pulls air from a lower position under the console and then out in a higher position from the rear. This design works for horizontal or the vertical position since it is nicely ducted out to the back and not letting the heat get into other parts of the console.

It takes some serious definition to hold a beer can straight and level like that. :p

Smoking as well. Now who said that men can't multitask? :sly:

Amen to the work travelling in the dark pic.

Surely they'd all be running around with knives.

And die upon getting scratched with any blade.

They would get about 30 casualties every morning when they shave.

Haha I cant stop laughing at that. (the Model T one)

I wonder what the demolition looked like, couple of torpedos down the exhaust port :)

Blowing in the cartridge is for rookies.

Q-tips and contact cleaner makes everything good as new. ;)
