Some people see others as poor if they have a manual. Auto options are an extra $1500 on most cars.

I can't find any funny pictures on this page, so have an April Fools/generic rest of the year prank funny image:

There are those that will pick them out and sort them, one by one.
How do I know this?
Someone did it in classes today (possibly one of the teachers) and one guy spent nearly 15 minutes picking through them all to sort them so us plebeians would not suffer the agony of Reeskitmm's.

4) Because so many people went to autos, nobody knows how to drive a manual. In driver education courses they don't even acknowledge that manuals exist.

This is what I don't really understand. I've been learning to drive for a few months now (you can't learn until you're 17 here), and driving a manual wasn't a challenge anymore partway into the first drive.

I don't get it either. Driving a manual is a useful skill. But most people are taught by their parents, who almost invariably own two automatic cars and may not be able to drive manual themselves.

My first car is a five speed and my dad gets so mad at me because I can't drive it like he can. One day I asked him why he doesn't buy manuals and he said because my mom is not capapble of driving one. She went outside and got in my car. Went and bought groceries and didn't grind or stall once. The look on my dad's face was priceless.

That sounds really weird. I don't know your dad so I'm not going to judge him, but I will point out that he's had years of experience and you're just getting started. Driving a manual well does take practice. And well done to your mum for showing him what she can do!

By the way, I think it's great that you got a manual for your first car, that's not a common thing in America and as you can tell by my avatar, I want manuals and manual drivers to stick around. :)

And just to get the thread back on topic:

Yep, for a combination of many reasons.
1) Americans are lazy.
2) They've been led to believe that autos are objectively better at everything, when in fact the opposite as true up until a few years ago.
3) Americans tend to buy cars that come as auto only (SUVs, minivans, big saloons, basically anything massive)
4) Because so many people went to autos, nobody knows how to drive a manual. In driver education courses they don't even acknowledge that manuals exist.
Couldn't have responded in a more douchebag-way if you tried.

Except its coming from some Pennsylvania kid who's spent the last 18, 19 years of his life in the US & only adopted this pot shot crap when he just coincidentally moved to the UK.

But you know. Just calling it like I see it.
I never adopted this crap, I've always been this way.
