@Slash edited the last one for you :).

@Slash, lots of naughty words in Spongebob text pic.

Solved.

That's so messed up but it's so funny

Seeing the average age of an American is 55-70; and given they have a low paying job, along with the interest, assuming they go for the standard 4 years of college, and that they didn't get held back or graduate early, they are out of college when they are 22. The low paying jobs at about $6-10/hr, on a standard 9a-5p work schedule, also factoring a 1hr break, that's 7hours, therefore >$70 a day.

Spread across a 5 day work week; 70x5=$350/wk

There's 51 weeks in a year, 350x51= a yearly income of 17,850, subtracting the cost of assumingly an apartment, monthly rent of ~$150; 150x12=1,800

17,850
-1,800
--------
16,050

Subtract food expenses, ~$25 a day, 25x7= 175x51(year)= 8,925

18,050
-8,925
--------
9,125

Assuming you take a bus everyday, .50¢ there and back, so $365 yearly.

9,125
- 365
--------
8,760

The yearly income is $8,760.

8,760x (63[average life expectancy]-22)

8760x41 = A life income of $359,160

Assuming that the 8% interest is annual, 80,000/8% = 16,000 x 63 = $1,008,000

359,160
-1,008,000
-----------
-648,840.00

So no, they wouldn't.

Stay in school kids... Or win the lottery... Or leave the USA.

You don't pay 8% on the portion of the loan that you pay off. Also, nobody in the US takes home less than high $40k annually unless you're a stay-at-home spouse. Government handouts raise your income up to that level if you include stipends for things like low income housing, welfare, etc. now you also have to include obamacare. Student loans reduce your tax liability, increasing the amount of government handouts (especially through the IRS) that you get.

If you put $8k per year (assuming equivalent monthly contributions) toward an $80,000 loan at 8% (ridiculous interest rate), you would pay it off in 20 years.

Do people really take $80k in student loans? Man, and I thought I was bad.

Cheater! I used a basic calculator that can't even do functions!
*Nerdy laugh*

50cents for a return bus journey? Which decade was that?

I didn't realize it was so bad until I started getting notifications for it.

Thanks for the edit.
