Funnily enough, another winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry yesterday is Barry Sharpless, who was already on my list of Nobel Prize in Chemistry winners that I've met, even though he won his 1st Nobel Prize a year after I met him at a conference in France in 2000.

This means that I've now met the 1996, 2001, 2017, 2021 and 2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry winners, and 5 Nobel laureates in total (as I met Stanley Prusiner, the 1997 Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine, playing pool in a bar in Colorado in 2004...).

I've also met Jocelyn Bell Burnell at a seminar at Glasgow University shortly before the pandemic. Her work led directly to the discovery of radio pulsars and earned her (male) boss the 1974 Nobel Prize in Physics, and arguably she should have shared the prize too.
