Hi guys, have not found an answer to this yet.
Do Fanatec CSR Elite pedals work the Logitech G27 wheel/shifter on the PS3?
Are there any adapters or special hardware needed to make it work?

It doesn't work. You are better off getting a set of ECCI or FREX pedals as they support the Logitech wheels natively. It's literally plug and play.

Strange advice. If you can afford ECCI or Frex kit, you might as well upgrade your G27 too.

Not sure if Basher's 'Pedal Decoder' would be any good for running the Elite pedals through the G27 to a PS3... hopefully somebody can clarify.

If Elite pedals use the usual "three axis 0-5V" output then it's just the matter of crafting a simple adapter. Someone with a multimeter and Elite pedals should check that.

"three axis 0-5V" output

Potentiometers don't work that way, as long as the voltage between pins 1 and 3 isn't enough to blow the pot the output of pin 2, the wiper, will always be a proportion of the output. If you have a 10k linear pot and put 5V across it (i.e. 5V on pin 1, ground pin 3), when the wiper is exactly halfway through the travel you'll get 2.5V on pin 2. Do the same with a 5k, 50k, 100k pot and it'll always be the same because the potentiometer is essentially a variable voltage divider. Put 3.3V across a 10k, set it to halfway through and you'll get 1.65V. This applies to all voltages and pots.

That is assuming the pots are linear.

So in other words, as long as the pots have the same resistance and linearity (and I'm really not sure that they will have), you should be able to make an adaptor or even just open up the Fanatec pedals and swap the cable for the G27's. I'd prefer that (or a more hacky attempt if it's not that straightforward) to dealing with the RJ45 connector (or whatever it is).

Mrbasher will be able to tell you if his board will work, though, I imagine it would.

Interested in this too, basherboards pedal decoder description does explicitly exempt the CSR elite and clubsport pedals from compatibility as a g27 adapter.

neema_t, yes, pots work on whatever voltage you throw at them but the devices they are connected to give/run on a specific voltage. For Logitech wheels it's 5 volts, Fanatec pedals have more electronics in them (LC interface) than just the pots as Logitech pedals do, so we need to know what that runs on.

I've been asked to make something that will do this for the G27 and the T500 a few times now. I have yet to decide if it's something I want to pursue...

Here's the deal with the CSR Elite and Clubsport pedals...

They have two methods of communication and neither of those is analog, which is what the G27 or T500 would need. There are a few ways to make the conversion, but none of them really involve simply connecting wires to the right places. I do have an idea about this that may be less complicated. I'll give that some thought (and quit thinking out loud haha)

I've created the circuit on a breadboard for this and it works with the T500. There's no reason it would not work with the G27.

That said, I am unsure I want to move forward with the project. If anyone wants to know why, you are welcome to PM me and we can discuss it as I am not comfortable doing so publicly.

Let me ask you this though, while we are on the subject...

Let's say you were using an adapter I created to connect these pedals in such a manner. Let's say the pedals stopped working properly or behaved unexpectedly. Who would you contact first?

1. Fanatec
2. Me
3. Logitech or Thrustmaster (depending on the wheel it was connected to)

I'm curious, let me know. ;)

This is starting to sound like a difficult/not mainstream combination.

Was hoping there was an adapter to pair it straight up.

Would probably contact the pedal manufacturer.
