What do you think of G3?

Im mad i missed the chance to see them in toronto last year, but i didnt even know who they were back then...

i think steve vai is like the modern day hendrix and besides him being a bit on the homo side hes awesome

I like Vai, and I like Satriani. I noticed this year they are touring with Robert Fripp, and I think last year Yngwie was with them. I wish I could have seen last year's show or one of the years when Eric Johnson was with them.

I like Vai. He's good he has nothing truly incredible that I've heard yet. Yngwie Malmsteen is really amazing but nobody I've heard yet has even come halfway close to being as good as Satriani.

that reminds me, I'm going to see the Deep Purple/Satriani Concert when it hits toronto :D:D

Unfortunately, I got interested in Satriani's music just a few months back so I didn't even get a chance to attend the G3 concert when it came to toronto (nor did I know what the G3 concert was at the time)

I saw just satriani once, last year, boy it was amazing SEEING him play. much of his music I dont like very much (mainly the style, nobody can't question he is incredibly gifted, a genius) but the sole experience of seeing him play is INCREDIBLE, its idiotic, just out of this world.
I also just downloaded the full, 2-CD concert on last year's G# with Malmsteen on stage, and boy it rocks!

also, **** you Emad. that concert is gonna be SWEET :grumpy:

I saw G3 a couple of years ago when it was Satch, Vai and John Petrucci of Dream Theater at the House of Blues Orlando. Each of them did a superb show, though I thought Joe was holding back a little bit in his intensity --when you see him as a headliner, he plays much harder. Petrucci is a friggin MACHINE (I mean that in the most complementary way possible) and Vai is a simply mind bending musician.

Just when I though it couldn't get any better, Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs) came out for the encore and the four of them + Billy Sheehan + Stu Hamm rocked out to "Little Wing". I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

hehe, that's exactly how I feel every time I listen to the G3 Rockin The Free World live set.

Can't wait for the Satriani/Deep Purple concert though...I just hope it won't rain

I have 2 of the G3 albums, Rockin in the free world (satch, steve and yngwie) and the "live in concert" album with Eric johnson in there

Absolutely fantastic guitar work going on there, just wish I could see them live

That show with John Petrucci would have been fantastic being a DT fan for a long time and being amazed at what he can do with a guitar

I think I should move over to the states just so I can go to some of these shows

Picked up a G3 DVD recently, Live in denver 2003, Malmsteen, Satch and Vai
