I have my lounge open for testing for Round 8 at Nurburgring GP/F for the next little while. I maybe away from time to time but will keep it open as long as I can.

Any practice times to report yet from Nurb GP/F? My best lap time so far is 1'55.67 on full fuel and 1'55.29 on 3/4 tank with fresh tires.

I just love this track. 👍 There is just no place to relax and it's intense the entire time. Even including Spa I think this ranks at the top of my list. Other drivers seem to hate this place which makes it that much better for me.

It's going to be another pretty long race at about 1 hour 10 minutes.

Any early guesses on pole lap times KK? I'd really love to nail a 1'54 lap before the week is over and a 1'53... well, that would be heaven, but probably not going to happen without a turbo or two for a non-alien such as myself.

Early alert that turn 1 is a beast after a grid start. I think we saw that play out in the preseason. Luckily we now have light damage and I hope we can get through there with minimal carnage. A front row start never hurts in that regard.

 I'll find out and get back to you....In the pre-season i managed a 55.xxx But with a kick up the butt from gamestaa's lounge I think a 54. is definetely possible...

EDIT: I've done a 10 lap session and I've taken a trip through the gravel in the first 7 of those laps..my fastest lap of 1:54:668 came on the 10th lap with just over 1/4 of fuel gone...This track is all about having a pointy front end for the last sector and a tamed rear end for the first....
With a kick up the backside from gamestaa's lounge a 53.xxx is the expected pole time.....Thats what i think atleast unless Remy makes a comeback

how the hell are you doing that without a turbo? Been running like crazy around here and pushing the limits of my car and am getting 155.2 at best. :yuck:

Seriously that is fast I am at the limti (with my old tune) at 1:57.141 1:53 is seriously quick.

Try taking Schumacher S' with a slight lift off....Tire wear is very very bad...how long are you guys lasting between stints?

You can sign me up for testing as well Gamesta 👍

I'll run some GP/F laps tonight and post my laptime / tire wear too.
LOVE this track

Thanks Hydro, Sent all info over in PM.

Tire wear so far for me isn't that bad for me I am looking for another 1 stopper but not sure if it will work out need to to do more laps but it is looking possible.

Remember KK is quoting quali-class lap times and is banking on the Gamesta lounge up-tick for that extra 0.7 to get down to 1'53 which is asking a lot.

My tune and laps at a low 1'56 pace are pretty stable and not that hard on tires so for now that's my target race pace until the tires are shot late in the run. Going from 1'56 to mid/low 1'55 creates a huge extra load on tires as it requires pushing too hard at a few places the tires don't like. Not to mention the extra risk of going off track and giving back any gains and more. Hopefully through practice and testing and tune tweaking I can shave 0.5 off that race pace before the race.

Between turn 1 and the end of sector 1 is section of track where if you push too much you end up with both a slower time and worn set of rubber. Be smooth and consistent through this section and your race results will improve.

Of course while it's tight running at the beginning everything is up in the air. I find it fairly easy to run around here by myself, but as soon as someone is tight on my bumper it gets more difficult. And of course someone in front can easily slow you down.

I'm guessing if you can run in the 1'56 range consistently while staying on track and not demolishing your tires you'll be in the running for a decent finish. KK can run 1'54 for a few laps and go off in the sand once and give it all back and end up with shot tires for his troubles.

KK: One question on your quali-class laps... are you going full throttle through Schumacher without a lift? I know you recommend a short lift for race laps, but just wondering if you are going 100% if you manage to make it through without any lift off. So far I can't make it stick without a short lift, but I'm pretty sure it's possible with better timing and maybe some tuning adjustments.

I am going full throttle indeed however it only works with timing....Get the turn in wrong and you'll go plowing through the gravel...

Remember, KK's car turns very quickly.
I'm lifting a bit, but I plan to see if that can be overcome with some camber / toe setting changes.
I really think other corners are more important though, so I won't spend too much time worrying about a momentary lift.

For the race I'd agree it doesn't matter much and not worth the risk. If someone is behind you and they can go full out they can't when you are in front of them and if you go full out and they don't they'll just draft up to you in the straight following. If you are behind you can't really go through all out in case the other driver doesn't make it.

However, for quali I'd guess it makes at least a tenth difference in time if not more.

Nur GP has always been a tough race it is a very demanding course. My Problem areas are always the last chicane. But as you guys have said we will have to lift even break during the esses to avoid any collisions.

Thats very true...Its about spreading the grip of the tires over 11/12 laps so that you can keep the average lap times low...

@dragon-You gonna soldier on to a one stopper this week? If you do then I think we're all witnessing something special

My preparation this week has come to a complete stand still the last couple days. :scared: I need Mr. Dragon-son to attempt a "zen-like" one stop strategy for sure to have any chance. Mr. KK-son only needs to miss/overshoot pit road like he did in pre-season.

LMAO....To be fair i did have suspension damage but its my bad for thinking i could make it at 100mph

The most laps I think I will get out my tires is 12 or 13 no more so definetly a 2 stopper for me if anyone manges a 1 stopper with out any major incidents that will be truly amaizing.

Glad to hear im not the only one...

I'll most likely be making 2 stops, too off the pace to make a one stopper here. haven't had much time except earlier in the week to run anything but i think i got a decent setup for a top 4

That pretty much summarizes my situation/condition. I'm comfortable where I'm at, but not terribly confident I'll be able to compete for a 3rd straight win given my complete lack of time for further preparation. :sly:

Nepalii's participation this week will influence the top 4 I would think. The Lexus can't be that much of a dog at this track right? Or am I wrong?

Hey guys . :)

Not been on GT5 much this week apart from laying down a test for next seasons regs for Gamesta .

I'll do my SC430 test tonight & see how fast she goes , I suspect it will be around the 1.58 - 1.59 mark depending on driving style preference .

I'm pretty sure the SC430 won't be capable of getting a podium here unless a couple of GTR guys have a bad race or something .

Let's see on Sunday . 👍
Hope everybody's had a good week & see you guys on track in Germany .

I was running 1'58s earlier in the week. I did a chassis refresh after La Sarthe and the car now feels stiff and turning doesn't feel as good before. I'll run more today, hopefully there will be some improvement.

I've underestimated the SC430 here I think . I just did a 1.57.049 & there's maybe still a little more time to come .....

Not quite GTR pace , but it's better than the 5 second deficit at Le Mans . 👍

I had a quick glance at times on the previous pages & noticed Gamesta's time of 1:57.141 . I think we'll be wheel to wheel again for this race mate . 👍

Free Practice Room is open Qualification starts in 49 mins.

Had a great race today. knew I had to get that clean air at the start to do anything well and it worked. Did everything I could not to make any mistakes early and hoped the guys behind would chasing me. Got a decent 6 second lead after the first stint and just kept my nose clean from there on.

Just wanted to say I've had alot of fun this whole season and didn't expect to do so well in my first GTP series. Thanks to everyone here for some great racing.

Race went better than expected. I sort of went in thinking I was going to be well of the pace not only of the GTRs, but way off TJ in the other Lexus as well. I ended up finishing one place behind TJ, and only 22 seconds back (despite losing 10 seconds in lap 1 corner 1 after being spun off by WRP). My fastest lap was only 4 tenths off his as well. I'm satisfied that I kept it clean, on the road mostly and wasn't as slow as I feared.

Race started poorly. I came into corner 1 cautiously and crept through the carnage until I saw the way out. Just as I was putting my foot down to get out of there, WRP nudged me and I went straight into the wall. I was dead. Or just last. It's a fun fact that I have ended up in last place at one point or another during all 4 races that I have participated in. Other than Daytona, I have neither started nor finished in last place. From there I just kept my nose clean and ran a relatively conservative pace.

The only wheel to wheel racing I did was with Allin. I was defending excellently (If I do say so myself) from him despite him getting in my draft and pulling alongside me multiple times in corner 1. On lap 38 we were side by side for the first 3 corners. Good clean racing every lap. The only time there was contact, he half-spun me out of corner 1 but graciously let me keep my place. Good sportsmanship from Allin, I appreciate it. 👍

Congratz on a great win Dragon. 👍 You are very consistent no matter where we go and deserve to win the championship this season. It's a pleasure to race with you.

I haven't watched the replay as I just got through with fifteen six year old kindergarteners who came over for my youngest son's birthday. It was raining outside so we were all stuck inside. :boggled: Needless the say the 35 laps at GP/F on 4.5 hours sleep was a cake walk in comparison.

After I get a chance to watch the replay I'll post my race report.

6th place today for me ( Top non GTR finisher . ) Was running as high as 4th with competitive times until Terrible & WRP reeled me in with their GTR's.

Qualified with a 1.17.1xx with my fastest lap in clean air being a 1.17.2xx . 1-2 tenths off testing pace confirms that I got the maximum from the car today .

The first corner was a bit messy . Definately worthy of an investigation in my opinion . 👍

Other than that I had some good battles with Gamesta , Terrible , WRP & AllinWitJT . Some great overtakes & close racing all round too .

Looking forward to Monza but it's GTR / NSX territory , like Le Sarthe , so I think the SC430 guys will have a hard time keeping up . A 6th - 8th place will be like a victory for us here lol .

Congrats again to Dragon . :)

It was a tough race for me today finishing 9th Was on pace and making head way until lap 5 when I collided with WRP in a corner he was spun out in. Had A great 4 or 5 laps battle with WRP just manageing to keep ahead in the breaking duels going into turn 1 but made a mistake with my rubber bands for tires and that's all she wrote. Good race but I can never remain consistant here at Nur GP/F.
