Thanks WRP Awesome as always!

Highlights Video from La Sarthe:

I was doing some calculations of pit stops.

On the first pit after Lap 7 I lost about 33 seconds. Going into my pit I had a 13 second lead on Dragon and came out 20 seconds behind.

On the second pit after Lap 14 I lost 57 seconds! Going into my pit I had a 50.5 second lead on Dragon and coming out I was down 6.5 seconds. Some of that *extra* 24 seconds was a longer pit stop for extra fuel, but I think a large part of the difference was getting stuck behind KK on pit road when he ran out of fuel and had to drive 40 mph well before the cutoff line.

By comparison, Hydro went into his 2nd pits 4.2 seconds ahead of Dragon, put in as much or more fuel than I did and came out 34.6 seconds behind Dragon so his pit stop cost him 39 seconds.

So that little out of fuel episode probably cost us 18 seconds on track (57-39). Can that be right? Seems like a lot... Would actually have to time the entire pit stop including entry area and compare time for Hydro to be sure.

Had I known what was happening I should have just gone one extra lap, but I reached KK's car right before pit lane and didn't really know what was going on so just stuck to my strategy. :dunce:

Hydro

Lap 2 I blew the final chicanes, and ran an odd line, forcing TJ out, but I ceeded the position gain, and I hope it didn't affect his lap / race much.
No problem at all . 👍
In fact , the early laps were very crowded & busy for me so I don't actually remember the incident so it's no biggie .

Great duelling battles with Gamesta & Sagaris yesterday , lots of good side by side moments there . I drove quite consistently in the race but made some uncharacteristic overtaking errors and dropped the car a couple of times .

I managed to overtake Gamesta with the undercut but slowly got reeled in , but I put up a good fight . My worst result of the season so far although 6th place would've been the maximum I could've achieved on Sunday . So from here the only way is up & looking forward to Nurb GP/F 👍

It was a really good race yesterday I had a lot of fun battling with TJ and I think I was able to get you in the end because I stayed out that one extra lap so my tires were 1 lap newer at the end resulting in me catching up after teh pit stop. But the first 10 kaps of the race were intense almost every corner I had to defend or apply pressure, very good fun, Awesome video WRP I truly appreciate the effort you put forth in this series and congrats on two wins I haven't won 1 race yet in 3 seasons lol.

I'm not much of a photographer, but a few of the images from La Sarthe at night were stunning. This one caught my eye from Lap 2 Sector 1:

Yeah it was great fun . Having fresher tyres benefited you in catching towards the end for sure . After you overtook with 3 laps to go I decided to pit again to get fresh rubber , didn't think I had much to lose .

Came out just behind Sagarismic , & I was enjoying a good battle to regain my place until I got distracted by the living room door opening & proceeded to drop it into the gravel whilst alongside him ....

Lol , just wasn't my day .

Great highlights package WRP 👍

lol, so that's what happened. We were racing down the straight and you suddenly disappeared. I was surprised.

I saw you coming out of the pits and passed you. Seeing as how my tires were a couple laps older, I knew it would be tough to keep you behind in the last few laps. I managed to maintain a gap for a few laps, but then on the last lap I made a mistake through the esses and allowed you to close up to me and overtake. From then on, we were drafting each other on the straights until you dropped it into the gravel. Good tense last lap battle. 👍

It was not a good race for Lexus/Honda. 7th, 8th and 10th is not so good. My quali lap of 3'56.460 was way off the pace. The SC430 was always going to be outgunned on the long straights and Nilson's NSX is hard to control on these tight and bumpy public roads. I think the Lexus will be more competitive at Nurburgring GP though. Looking forward to that. :)

Thanks for putting together and managing a great series Gamesta 👍 and my pleasure to help add some "flavor" with replays and other misc stuff.

I'm happy to say that my online racing performance has really come along this season. Before this season I had only participated in one live online race and I came in dead last. I could post very competitive practice lap times, but I wasn't very comfortable going bumper-to-bumper on track. :nervous:

However, I had a really good base of driving skills developed from months of competing in the WRS. Obviously our preseason practice races and the early season races really showed my inexperience: Start Fuji on front row and end first turn in kitty litter. Manage 6 off track incidents at Suzuka. But after all these races (plus 3D3 races) I feel like I can finally put some of those offline hot lapping skills to use online and driver more consistently.

For any of you looking to improve your "core" skills I'd highly recommend trying out the GTP Weekly Race Series to complement your online racing. Yes, it's offline and takes a bit of an initial investment to set up a GTP_ account and run the qualifier, but it really can create a foundation for much faster online racing. There are some *amazingly* fast drivers (e.g. aliens) in the WRS that help out in those threads with tips, approaches and even full write ups at times on how they approach the track. Not to mention they upload replays every week which you can watch and analyze. I started out in D3 bronze and have worked my way up to D2 bronze so far (just like Hydro).

Unfortunately the GTP_Registry Qualifier is closed at the moment as they evaluate the impact of Spec II on the qualifier times, but it should be open again shortly. IN the meantime you could work on a GTP_ tag PSN account getting it up to Level 16 and then practicing the AMG Driving Academy Intermediate Special Event (Sectors 2 & 3) so when they open the registry you'll be first in line and ready to submit your quali times.

At these specs there really is no way the SC430 can compete on many of the tracks with the GT-Rs. The GT-Rs are just too good all around. The NSX has the edge over the GT-R in pure speed, but it's just a demon to control and hard on tires so that speed can't be harnessed long enough in our races. You can win with these cars, but you basically have to be a notch above any driver using a GT-R. I think at Laguna the SC430 has a good track record... GP/F I'm not sure, but it will definitely be a closer match. The NSX in the right hands can win at GP/F and take pole, but you have to be almost perfect and have a great setup to harness the beast within that car.

+1 For WRP vids . 👍
Yep 6th was my target yesterday , it was within reach for sure . I'll be a bit more focused next time . Good battle indeed . 👍
Good points should be on offer for the Lexus team at Nurb . 👍

Laguna is tighter than Nurb GP so that makes sense. But even if the SC430 will not be equal with the GT-R, it'll surely be closer than it was at Daytona, La Sarthe and even Spa. I'm hopeful that TJC, Enyaw and myself will be battling a little further up the grid this weekend.

early practice anyone?

I agree , & I predict the SC430 to be capable of around 4th or 5th at Nurb on Sunday.

Agreed also . I like this car but i'm going to be very cheeky & try to reserve the Motul Autech GTR for next season , my favourite of all the GTR's . ;)

I'm sure Dragon will jump on the Calsonic in my absence and gladly give you the Motul Autech GTR. If Gamesta and the grid allows I'll be a stand-in driver next season and take whatever car is left over when I can make a race. Of maybe if it's a planned absence by a driver I can jump in whatever car is vacated and help with that teams for that week. I don't really care.

Maybe before Season 4 there will be new cars in a future expansion pack anyway... I have to believe they'll release another DLC for Christmas... they'd be crazy not to. Or maybe the Stealth GT-R will be allowed in the series next year.

Yes, WRP in both capacities you will be welcome in Season 4. I am Unsure of the Stealth Models being allowed I will have to see if there is advantage, as out the box the Stealth GTR has less weight and more HP where the Stealth NSX would fall in almost perfectly with it's out of the box ratings and would be on par with the GTR's.

I have a few ideas for season 4....

1. Theres no doubt that the GTR's are waaay ahead of the others..How about opting to the same ratings as the WSGTC...they're car specs put all the cars on a level platform

2. Ballast maybe?

3. I have to admit i witnessed this method in the MRC...whoever finishes last in the driver standings get first pick of cars and so on...therefore the driver to win the standings pick their car last...

Food for thought...

Maybe some of us could aid you in the testing prior to Season 4. Having a few different people running hot laps with the various new cars vs old cars is probably better than one as we all have different driving styles.

Pick 4 tracks with various attributes (Laguna, Fuji, Spa, GP/F) and each drivers runs the cars in questions on all tracks until they get pretty stable lap times and then report back to you our results. Then you can decide for yourself based on your own testing plus all the input from us. Obviously, in the end it's your call.

Call it Gamesta's offseason testing thread and run it while we wait for Season 4.

Awesomeness . 👍
There will definitely be DLC / More cars / GT Tracks for Xmas time yep .
I wouldn't be too sure about more GT500's but it would be interesting to have more . 👍

I'm happy to help with any testing also , & I agree with KK's , Gamestas & WRP's posts above me . 👍

I like the Idea of a testing thread I will create that in the intrest section when the season is over. Also the tracks I primarily tested the Super GT cars on were Fuji ,Suzuka and Monza the Inclusion of the other tracks will be really good especially Spa.

I think Laguna is somewhat important to use in testing in that it does allow the better handling cars to shine a little... but there aren't too many like that either. GP/F is keen on a good handling car, but also some long full throttle sections. Good alternate data points in any case.

Off season testing can be a lot of work, but it makes you a better driver anyway as it's about consistent laps and pushing... basically time trials with the car.

The only problem I have is setups. I'm not a setup wizard so cars where I can't find a good setup (for me) will give me problems in testing.

Changing topics... All said and done I like the tracks we ran this season. After all my complaining about the Daytona and Indy "puzzle courses" they made for good races and even though they weren't "pretty" the racing was very good. Only thing I would change is to not put them back to back, but otherwise the schedule was top notch. Let's hope we have a new "real life" track by the start of next year. I would stay clear of Monaco as it's just carnage with traffic unless every driver is very precise.

I'd like to test the cars a create specs for each one to get them as even as possible. The WSGTC specs do look pretty well done. And the inclusion of supras would be nice too. I'd probably end up driving somethingelse if we did that as I've mostly ran in GT-Rs and NSXs with the super gt cars.

The Main Reason for the non inclusion of the 350Z and the Supra's is there turbo's, if the Turbo gets upgraded in any way I can't tell, all the cars in the series are Naturally aspirated so it is easier to police.

On another note I have been able to get all of the cars in the series with a setup in which I can drive consistant laps . During my testing all the lap times I was setting where in the same region as each other for every car except the Bandai Direzza Sc430 the rest were all within a second of each other. I chose the GTR as I have a love for Nissan and Nismo Motorsports so I will probablly stick with Team Nismo again and the Xanavi GTR next season but another car has caught my eye and may drive that instead.

I still think the rovals are not great courses. Indy is fine actually, I don't mind it. But Daytona is pointless, has no flow and too many awkward corners. The one thing (apart from the points system, which I find too top heavy) I don't like about this series is the scheduled courses. Too many high speed courses with long straights. My favourite courses in GT5 include Monaco, Madrid, Deep Forest, Autumn Ring, Trial Mountain and SSR5 (though It's too dark in GT5).

But that's all I can complain about really. This is a really well run series with friendly clean drivers participating. Thank you Gamesta for putting on this great series. 👍 I'm glad I picked this one to get my feet wet with.

Round 7 at Sarthe has been reviewed and I will have the point totals and penalties posted tomorrow.

Ok, now with only 3 races left in the Season, I am going to start testing for Season 4

Some Info about Season 4

- It will be 9 Weeks long so one track so far will be cut from the current calendar (this will either be Indy or Daytona assuming no new tracks are added.)

- There will be a rule instituted to make the field more balanced (either Tires or Ballast)

So far the above to points are the only concrete changes for Season 4 if you are interested in Testing for Season 4 Let me know here and I will map out exactly all the changes I am concidering and needs to be tested in a PM. This is to get a head start on testing as on paper what I am concidering to do will take a while by the looks of things. As suggested earlier I will be creating a thread for testing specifically in the Intrest Check section once the season is complete.

I'll help with testing. I will have no access to my PS3 between Dec 10 and Jan 3rd though so depending when you start Season 4 I may or may not be that helpful. I'll do what I can to assist in any case.

Im up for testing...I have a few ideas..
How about setting a PP cap of 600 and any of the Premium Super GT Cars are allowed...Also one thing i've noticed is that the SC430's are equal to the GTR's when they have a few more bhp with a turbo and stage 3 engine tuning....
Just let me know if theres anything you need...

I would like to help contribute to any testing regs that need verifying , so just let me know what you would need me to test Gamesta & i'll try to help in any way I can. 👍

Thanks guys, I have sent you all a PM with the Testing Info.

I will be holding a Test session tonight for Nur GP/F I will also be testing with the current restrictions for season 4 as well all are welcome to come a test as usual I will post here again when the lobby is available.

I can do the same, Gamesta. 👍 I already have every car in the series in my garage. Other than the Epson and Petronas Tom's SC430, all untouched.

Thanks guys, I have sent the info over via PM

Here are the points totals and race results from Round 7

Here are the penalties

FPS_Nilsen Over Aggressive overtaking -10 points

All other incidents I have concluded are racing incidents and were unavoidable all in all a the race at sarthe was really good and we all should be proud of that race.

Here is the points table.
