The only wheel to wheel racing I did was with Allin. I was defending excellently (If I do say so myself) from him despite him getting in my draft and pulling alongside me multiple times in corner 1. On lap 38 we were side by side for the first 3 corners. Good clean racing every lap. The only time there was contact, he half-spun me out of corner 1 but graciously let me keep my place. Good sportsmanship from Allin, I appreciate it. 👍

That's what we are here for, fun times and honest racing. I've never raced a NSX before, very different from a GT-R, if I had more wheel time I may have been able to avoid that tap I gave you. I had a hard time braking and pointing the nose where it should go without sliding. Thanks for the race guys.

Turn 1 was carnage. I hope nobody jumps to any conclusions or points any fingers too harshly. Just realize that it's a really tough first turn after a grid start and it's just a game after all. And you can't let turn 1 kill the fun of your entire race. I didn't.

I'm sorry that I hit Sag in the rear quarter panel sending him off to the wall. He is absolutely right about that. Know it was unintentional and I had both rear tires damaged and had little control of the car at that point. I guess after being sandwiched and then spun I should have just sat still on the track and waited until everybody passed.

In any case I'm proud that nobody rage quit or made any snide comments on the chat. I'll be proud again if nobody calls anyone else out on the thread and just waits for Gamesta to do his review. If you have a strong opinion just PM Gamesta. If I am judged to be at fault I'll take whatever penalties are coming and say "thank you sir" like a good soldier.

See you guys next week. The chicane at Monza is just as tough on the start so I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of the same. I'll do everything I can to drive through there clean and give room and if I'm involved again I'll get pointed in the right direction again and make the best of the rest of the race. 👍

Yes, Exactly Turn 1 was a little crazy but from what I saw thankfully I started in the rear it was all unavoidable I will double check the incidents again during review but Turn 1 lap 1 so far in my opinion pending review is a racing incident and truly unavoidable and so far the only person that was on today's grid I know is getting a guarenteed penalty is me.

Monza has three very tight chicanes that will be trouble area's next week and we all should take that into account especially with the draft. With that being said it is anyone's race next week as season's past have shown the draft and pit strategy make all the differance at Monza.

Race went better than expected. I sort of went in thinking I was going to be well of the pace not only of the GTRs, but way off TJ in the other Lexus as well. I ended up finishing one place behind TJ, and only 22 seconds back (despite losing 10 seconds in lap 1 corner 1 after being spun off by WRP). My fastest lap was only 4 tenths off his as well. I'm satisfied that I kept it clean, on the road mostly and wasn't as slow as I feared.

That's a good finishing position considering the turn 1 incident . My car felt alive here , very quick in all sectors . Those last 4 tenths or so was just the difference in setup I think . I like a pointy front end on this car with dialled in lift off oversteer , it matches my driving style & pays off in terms of laptime. You can see it in the way my car moves around on the replay too.

Towards the end I was in cruise mode . I couldn't catch the GTR's & I had a big enough gap behind me so just settled into a paced rhythm to bring the car home .

No problem. I assumed it was unintentional and didn't know you had damaged wheels at the time. I was unlucky with bad timing and location. I was putting the power down and the tap moved my rear laterally, spinning the tires and instantly overheating my rear end. These things happen, I never blamed you at all. :)

I agree the car felt alive, but it was a negative for me. The rear end was too active for my taste and I was wrestling the car all race. I wasn't able to push the same way I like to do when the car feels balanced and tame. In La Sarthe, I started to use Praiano's tune and the car worked perfectly. I was able to get on the throttle early and hit apexes every time, and I was consequently the fastest SC430 in terms of raw pace there. Here, it was different. I wasn't able to get into a rhythm, and was especially out of sorts on cold tires. Stint one I was able to get a little rhythm and was able to set laps in the 1'57.6-1'57.9 range consistently before the tires wore out. However, after pitting and coming out on stone cold tires, I lost my confidence and was not able to get any rhythm again (my out lap was 5 seconds slower than yours after your first stop). I need to improve in many aspects of my driving, but most particularly in terms of warming up the tires and finding grip on blue tires.

Praianos tunes are legendary yep , he has some awesome setups . On cold tyres I still have my moments . I recall 2 caught tankslapper moments on my outlaps yesterday . I try to expect them & catch the slide before it develops , it looks cool from the outside though .

On cold tyres I underdrive the car to let the tyres come to me on the outlaps , almost pushing but not quite . It works really well on the undercut too if you're looking to gain position. Just keeping it neat & tidy is the key , taking a 3rd gear left hander in low revs in 3rd instead of low revs in 4th , for example , can be the best way to just bring the tyres in.

I only had a 10 minute practice this week as I know the 'Ring very well & just needed a ratio check . You could try my setup sometime if you like 👍

Here is a screen shot of the results from the live stats:

GamestaSeason3GPFResults-1.jpg

Dragon took fastest lap at 1'55.020 as well as the win. I didn't have the best race, but at least I managed the 2nd fastest lap with a 1'55.153.

I updated the google spreadsheet which has the unofficial standings:

Finally you guys might want to cheer for the home team on Dec 3: GTP Inter-League SuperGT GT500 Challenge. The event is going to be streamed live for everyone's viewing pleasure. :sly:

Awesomeness . 👍
My fastest lap was representative of my finishing position I see , so i'm happy that I maxed the SC430's performance . :)
Next season will be more competitive around here & it won't be a GTR sausage fest .
Joking aside , good luck to the home team guys for the race & I hope you guys do well . 👍

With all the new cars seemingly coming out including the Stealth GTR for NA and new Spec-V GTR maybe it will still be a GT-R "sausage fest" but more people can take part.

With the DLC hitting 1 million downloads in two weeks you can bet PD and Sony are going to release more DLC packs and tap the money train. Why the heck didn't they start this back in May/June when more people were still using GT5? Anyway, by next season my guess is we could have a whole new set of GT-Rs to use. Nissan is backing PD big time so expect the DLC to be heavily Nissan biased.

I hope off season testing can push up the alternates and allow the NSX and SC430s to compete with the GT-Rs. Along with our own off season testing we should keep an eye on the PURE results. They have completed a lot of testing and are starting their season now and we'll see how the different cars stack up in their season.

Check out what they've done so far: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=6052746#post6052746. Notice how they've juiced up the SC430 by allowing a Turbo Stage 2. And how they've weighed down all the GT-Rs so they come in at 1130 kg. The problem with their approach is it's a lot harder to police and manage. They may still end up being a little uneven, but as they get into the season and get through a variety of tracks it'll be a great field test.

Right now "the proof is in the pudding". Even at those specs no team in the GTP Inter-League SuperGT GT500 Challenge volunteered to take the SC430 (with turbo) so we had to allow two teams to double dip and take a duplicate GT-R in the name of fairness.

Speaking of the challenge...there are "true" aliens in the field (and in our semi-final bracket) so my personal goal for the team is just to make it into the final round. Regardless of the outcome on track, we'll do our best to represent the Gamesta Series with class, clean/fair driving and good sportsmanship. Interestingly enough NEPALII, Remi_K and AllinWitJT will also be taking part in the challenge (for other teams) so it's like the extended Gamesta-family.

PS> I wish there would be a way to export splits from a replay. So you could look at every driver and every lap/split in a statistical way to analyze performance. Would be interesting to see who was consistent and inconsistent looking at variance in lap times or sectors on the track. It would be a good way to learn where you need to focus your effort for your next trip to the track. Something that would be fairly easy to implement I would think in the software, but maybe not enough public appeal for PD to bother with it. Only the perfectionist would probably ever use it. But oh the charts I could produce. :sly:

Yep , we're all chipping in to add to Gamestas data for next season which will help out . I've seen the Pure thread before too . It's a really good thread & the balancing is well thought out . I was personally invited to this seasons championship actually , but i'm sitting it out to get more practice with you awesome guys . Next season i'm hoping to race in both , Gamestas & Pure ( If i'm hopefully re-invited ) . 👍

More GT500's from DLC would be welcome for sure . I don't mind more GTRs , not interested in road car DLC for example . Race car packs are always welcome . 👍

A fully tuned SC430 reaches 692 Bhp & a GTR reaches around 717 Bhp I think , so it's logical that nobody has gone for a Lexus for sure as it lacks the torque & the speed gain of a GTR all the way through its tune cycle.

There are ALOT of alien quick guys on that list for sure . ImmortalPilot etc etc....
I'm sure you & the guys will do well & have some great battles along the way . 👍

It would be great to have more data to analyse for sure . We only really have the offline data logger at the minute . It should be an online tool also but not according to PD I guess .

Edit - I've just noticed that you've become a Mod WRP , congrats ! :)👍

My race report:
I know its a little late but I keep forgetting

Quali's were better than I expected although I had to sit out for 8 mins....I pipped dragon by less than a tenth on the last minute of qualifying....Its a little too little too late but hey, my first pole of the season....On the last chicane I saw someone go off road and kicked up all the dust which meant the apex was temporarily invisible but all was well....
I managed to take pole but I didnt even lead the pack for one corner...Me and dragon began to pull away until on lap 3 when I overshot my braking zone and pushed all the blocks onto the race line (sorry everyone).....From here dragon pulled away at a rate of 7 tenths a lap...Great win dragon..world class from start to finish...Awesome racing everyone....

My race report:
I started in 4th and crashed on turn 1 and nearly went to the back except for the fact that I punted Sagarismic into the wall trying to recover myself so he took my spot in last instead and I ended up 9th. Then I worked my way past brettcee for 8th and spent the next lap and half catching up to the pack.

I caught up to Gamesta and battled with him for a bit until I made a nifty over/under pass to take 7th on lap 3. I pulled a way a bit and caught up with TJ, ALLinWitJT and Terrible, but spun on track trying to set them up for a pass and Gamesta had no place to go and rammed into me at high speed causing us both heavy damage. Sagarismic got by and that put me back in 9th behind Gamesta by 3 seconds.

I closed to Gamesta's bumper within two laps and we had a very nifty tight and clean battle for 4 full laps. I would catch and pass under draft only to be outbreaked into turn 1. Finally Gamesta made a slip and I got away on lap 11 into 8th place.

I pitted after that lap and spent the next couple laps getting into 7th. I closed on Terrible in 6th at a rate of almost 2 seconds per lap, but once I caught him on lap 16 I just couldn't make any pass stick. I think he also stepped up his game big time with me on his bumper because over the next 5 laps we closed a 10 second gap to ALLinWitJT and TJ. ALLinWitJT crashed on lap 21 letting us both get by for 5th and 6th. On lap 23 we both passed TJ for 4th and 4th just before coming into the pits. Like a lemming I followed terrible into the pits.

My biggest mental blunder of the race was following terrible into the pits. I should have stayed out for 1-2 laps. I knew I had a faster pace, but just couldn't get by him. I might have lost a few seconds staying out on warn tires, but I could have made that up in a couple laps and then I could have passed with much fresher tires. Instead I decided to follow him into the pits? Why why? TJ followed us into the pits also.

When we came out of the pits terrible had a 3 second lead again... he got by TJ cleaner in the prior lap I think and/or had a faster pit stop. I took me two laps to close the gap and return to his bumper on lap 27.

From there is was a mostly clean war to the finish. I knew that Hydro was not catchable in 3rd as he had a 30 second lead on us and TJ was 7-8 seconds back so it was just between terrible and I for 4th.

Here for your viewing pleasure is the last 15 minutes or so of our race I'll call the "Calsonic Clash":

Note: Since we're in the same car it's hard to tell, but terrible is in front on all except the penultimate lap.

I tried to be as clean and polite as possible, [over]confident that I would get by or terrible would make a mistake under pressure and I would pull away. Terrible basically made no mistakes, but finally on lap 34 I made a pass stick... only to have him stick on my bumper and then I gave it right back under breaking for the final chicane. I was planning to take the spot back again at the end of the final lap (with a more aggressive move of my own) when I spun tires coming out of Dunlop and could only manage to close the gap partially by the finish.

Had this been battle been for the win I think/hope I would have been a bit less passive with a few of my pass attempts. I wasn't squeaky clean by any means as I tapped terrible under braking at least once and misjudged the chicane a few times since I was so close behind him and had little visibility at times. But in terms of dive bombing or pushing off the line -- not once did I ever do it and there were plenty of chances. Anyway, it was a good and pleasurable battle and I made terrible earned the spot and he did so. 👍

Awesome Race re-caps guys and congrats on becoming a moderator WRP.
I will have the points table up for tomorrow but here are the penalties.

AllwitJT will not recieve any points as a reserve driver and all other positions will be move up 1 position ie. 9th-8th 10th-9th.

The Penalties

Gamesta666 -2 Speeding in Pitlane

All other incidents I have deemed unavoidable.

I also did 20 laps of testing at Monza and had an avg of a 1:47.xxx lap time with a 1:46.348 as my fastest looking at about 15 laps for tire wear so 2 stoppers are looking like the good route to take.

Thanks Gamesta and don't be afraid to penalize me because I'm a mod now. BTW, Hydro got an "upgrade" in status too. I think this thread is now truly safe from double posters. :sly:

Joking aside, good call on the review. As always we appreciate the hard work you put in. I'm sure Tj would want me to get a penalty for going too *slow* on pit lane and holding him up, but my remaining goal after getting a win is to go a full season without a single penalty deduction.

Not yet had a chance to run a lap at monza.

Lol , not at all mate . Racing is racing and I have respect for all drivers who give me the same in return . :)👍

Nice video clip too . Looking forward to Gamestas season highlights package as we've been wheel to wheel on more than 1 occasion.

Would like that. I'd like to compare your tune with what I'm running and see if it works with my driving style as well. You wouldn't have to worry about me using your tune against you, as there are only two races left. Next season, I'm hoping to get into a Calsonic or Yellowhat GTR. :sly:

As for driving on cold tires, underdriving is my problem more or less. I'm far too cautious and not only am I slow, but it also takes longer to warm the tires up. On the flip side, too aggressive driving leads to bigger mistakes on cold tires. A nice balance will surely come to me with experience.

No worries . 👍 In fact I will post my Nurburgring tune here shortly so i'll share it with everyone . :) If you like it then use it for possibly Monza & definitely Nurb 24 . 👍

That sounds very logical . Experience is key .:) Do you use a wheel or the DS3 by the way ?

Denso Sard SC430 Nurburgring GP/F

Aero - 40/65
Transmission - ( Changed For Monza Now , sorry )
LSD - 21 / 36 / 15
Ride Height - -15 / -22
Spring Rate - 11.5 / 12.0
Dampers Ext - 8 / 7
Dampers Com - 5 / 4
Anti Roll - 4 / 5
Camber - 1.7 / 1.1
Toe - -0.03 / 0.04
Brakes - 4 / 7

Try it out & see how it compares mate . 👍

New testing time at Monza of 1.46.622 with 3/4's of a tank of fuel . Still losing time at the first chicane but i'm hoping to go a few tenths quicker. :)

OK, to tie a little ribbon around the last round, here's the leader board video for the Nurb GP/F race:

I have my room open Now for testing at Monza all are welcome.

once again congrats to all podium finishers last weekend, and big ups to everyone else as well.

that was a great battle we had WRP, you had me on my toes the whole time. And thanks for the taking the time/energy to post these leaderboards and videos 👍

Looking forward to sunday!

Testing was better tonight as I was able to get consistant 1:46's right out of the gate with the tweak I did to my tune. My Fastest tonight was 1:45:648.

good on the improvements, i haven't been able to run any laps yet this week, been pretty busy, might get to it later tonight or tomorrow after all the feasting is over.

Here is the points Table after Nur GP

Side Note the race this weekend will be run at regular time as I can't see any other way around due to time frames.

That's a good improvement there Gamesta . 👍 Good to see the updated table again too .

The pit exit is soooo long here . Remember everyone for Sundays race that we have to stick to 100 Mph for almost the entire length of the straight whilst keeping the car inbetween the white lines at all times . 👍

It's going to be quite hard for the SC430 drivers to pick up substantial points here .
I would say that top 6 / 7 would be the maximum achievable result with some fun battles along the way . :)

If you were part of his season 1 you would know that midi45(or something along that lines) won every race with a Denso sard. At monza he was rear ended 1st chcaine but still came from behind and won by 35 secs or so.

Awesome . 👍 He sounds alien quick . The only driver i've seen win a race here this season in the SC430 is Nepali . Even on the faster tracks he said it wasn't possible to keep up with the GTRs . Everyone one else has struggled to get on top of this car & compete with the GTR's pace , going from maybe a 2 second gap at some circuits all the way up to 5 seconds at Le Mans .

An important fact to also remember is that the slipstream strength has been weakened with the rules we run . So Season 1 would've benefitted with much more drafting around a track like Monza back then .

It's a nice little car for sure . 👍

Monza is a interesting track but I find if you can stay in the draft you will be able to keep up even win once out of the draft though it gets very tough to keep up to the faster guys. Last Nights Testing was good avg Lap of 146.5 - 146.9 with a fastest of 146.4. last night my 1:45 fastest lap repeat was very hard to acheive. Anyways I will be doing some testing this afternoon hopefully for Monza.

With the spec II draft changes it seems they've factored in "dirty air" meaning it's much harder to follow through higher speed turns as the car develops a push ( less front downforce?) Plus a weaker pull using the weak setting. It's an improvement IMO, but may mean historical experience at Monza may not apply exactly.
