Comfort Softs and Sports Softs are allowed. Racing Softs are not allowed.

Go ahead and try it... I bet you can do one less pit stop  Good luck with that strategy :dunce:

No Thanks, I will stick with my 2 stop Racing Mediums Plan lol

I wouldn't even look the direction of comfort or sports. Useless with cars this caliber. Now race softs are another story.

Gamsta... can you edit the OP with the new practice agenda for the next two weeks so any drivers that aren't reading the whole thread won't come confused?

Speaking of practice & testing... Has anyone done any at Fuji? I plan to do some more later this week and I'll report some lap times, but at this point after a handful of runs I'm doing mid 1'36 offline (race rules: 502 hp, 605 pp, RM tires, no engine upgrades, etc.), but haven't done too much online yet. Left some time on the track so definitely room for improvement.

That last turn is a spin machine if you get on the power too early.

That's just a rumour, but it wouldn't be my first choice of the GT500's.

 Starting to think I'm nuts, as no one seems to ever agree with me, but I love Fuji, and Nurburgring GP/F!
The odd corners, and flow just seem to work for me.

I do agree 100% with Tim (WRP001) though, that last corner can make or break you.

👍 as well!

Just a heads up..That car [Woodone Advan Clarion] is considered one the worst GTR...👍

I had thought they are all basically even. With all of the cars having minor strong/weak points that essentially balance out.
I only chose the Raybrig for myself because it looks cool

In my experience its inferior when it comes to handling...

agreed, and i do believe the brand of tires do make a difference in the game, not much but i've noticed it. maybe why the woodone advan is ill handling, its got advan tires, the other gt-rs got them nice bridgestones on em.

Gangsta, any objections to running some sort of teams championship on the side of the driver championship. That way if one person falls behind in the driver championship they still have incentive to remain with series and give a good effort for the team. Also may reinforce one of the goals of the series where a more experience member of a team would have more incentive to help out another team member with less experience.

I don't mind keeping tally of team points if you don't want the bother. We could do teams based on the car (8X2) and we'd have to join the couple odd cars together on a team. Or we could figure out how to create 4 teams of 4 drivers with the top 3 drivers per team from each race counting points for the team.

If you were willing I think the 4 team option would work better, but not sure how to group them as it's not obvious like car choice would be for 8 teams.

What about basically random teams based on driver registration # in the OP:

1, 5, 9, 13 -- Team 1
2, 6, 10, 14 -- Team 2
3, 7, 11, 15 -- Team 3
4, 8, 12, 16 -- Team 4

Might be a stupid/bad idea and if so shoot it down, but sounds like a fun twist to me. If you like the idea, but not the team grouping just change it to something else. 👍

4 man teams would be too many per team IMO, also my friend who signed up with me will be in the same car as we plan on working together like a team for the most part.

Actually I have been running a Team Championship for the last two seasons although it is based on Car Choice Ie. Xanavi Nismo, Yellowhat, ARTA etc... But this season as there always ends being 1 person on a team within the series.I will be looking at final car choice from the drivers after the sept 18th test session then I will determine the teams dependant on car select

Looking at teh entry list there is 2 drivers not on a team so I will be making them Team Petronas Epson.

All good points. I just see the potential for a bunch of teams being down to 1 driver by the end of the season and the 4 driver teams (with only 3 scoring points) was an idea just to minimize the impact of dropouts and keep that championship somewhat relevant.

I don't know you Terrible1Fi (also running the Calsonic) but I guess that means we're teammates 👍 unless people swap out cars. Your on west coast time also so I guess that means we could have a team practice at some point :sly:

Yudha! We best get practising mate..

i added your PSN ID killa. let me know what time you wanna practice.

im on 4-8pm BST most days...

What are your practice times at Fuji F?

Hey Yudha, being on North America Pacific Time you're also welcome to practice in my lounge. I'll post here when it's open... usually will be evenings after 8:30 PM PST, but I also host other events so only join if I post here saying it's open for GT500 practice. Same invite goes for anyone else in the series.

Caution about networking issues

Last night I hosted a small event and the networking issues were rediculous (never had problems before). First people couldn't connect due to incompatible host or some nonsense and then after some messing with network people could connect, but not see each other at all on the track. Hopefully with the maintenance today Sony/PD will fix this... But everyone should test their network in the PS3 XMB menu and see if they have NAT1, NAT2 or NAT3 and whether UPnP is enabled and detected. Based on my recent experience:

  1. NAT1 you are in good shape (but this is a less common setup as this requires no router)
  2. NAT2 you are usually fine, but may have issues, especially if UPnP is disabled or not detected by your PS3
  3. NAT3 you are most likely going to run into trouble at some point... keep your fingers crossed

I switched my network around so I went from NAT2 w/out UPnP to a NAT1 connection and then others could join my lounge just fine. However, several of them with NAT2 (w/out UPnP) could not see other NAT2 drivers. NAT1 drivers could see everyone including NAT2 drivers and everyone could see them.

Basically, mess with your router to enable UPnP so that the PS3 detects it. Or connect your PS3 so it bipasses your router all together when you race online (set up DMZ or plug directly into DSL modem or set up port fowarding on your router to your PS3). After making changes rerun networking tests on PS3 again to see if you can achieve NAT1 or get NAT2 w/UPnP enabled. (Don't ask me for specific instructions but search around here on GTPlanet if you need more info on specifics).

Anyway, other series are having trouble with this and hopefully we can work out any kinks over the next two weeks before our series starts (or better yet Sony fixes this before our first official race). I don't think anyone reported any issues getting into Gamesta's lounge last week for practice so hopefully we're fine. But the issue in the other series is sometimes specific between two people (weird).

Good luck.

EDIT: Online practice times at Fuji/F with race specs and RM tires are low 1'38s so far (fairly consistent). This is not one of my better tracks and I know at least low 1'37's are attainable with tweaks to setup and some better lines/driving (more practice!!). I think the NSX's should be running "significantly" better times than that as they have historically had an advantage here.

Full grid! Can't wait for the start of the season. I'd be more than willing to drop in on any practice sessions that anybody is hosting. Just give me a time 👍

Sweet! I'll send add you next time I'm on.

Also, anybody have any tips for not breaking traction on the chicane but still maintaining a 1:38 pace?

Grip set to low or real?

Who are you asking? Quote the original message and edit it down to just the part you are referring to.

I just looked and believe it's not specified in the OP (unless I missed it) so it's a good point and something Gamsta needs to address so we know. FYI... I've been running my practice session with "real".

Hint: Also don't double post, just edit your original message, especially if it's still the last post... the GTP admins frown on double posting... I'm not an admin, but I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night so I'm pretending to be one.
