Yes for sure.

Awesome , thanks.👍

I'll let Gamsta make the call on this but I would suggest nobody call anyone specific out in public forum... Not that anyone's has yet... Just PM them or notify Gamesta. Apologies are fine though. Is that how you want it Gamesta? Public flogging won't help anything

Here's mine...

Top 3-5 had a nice clean start at Suzuka... Then I caught grass with left tires in middle of S and spun into whoever was behind. Wasn't driving aggressive or trying a crazy pass, just driver error. Sorry I got someone else caught up in it.

We will get the kinks worked out with the starts over the next couple weeks and racing seems reasonable once we get a little space.

One thing is... Wish people would just get in line lap 1. I slowed behind 1 and 2 at Fuji to slot in 3rd and about 3 cars dive bombed me into corner (turn 3 left). Better off to try and set the driver up for pass on exit if you are faster. But if they quali ahead of you there should be some respect at the start for that position unless driver makes a mistake. If you are faster you'll get your chance to pass in draft too... Or just do better in quali if you want to kead lap 1!! My goal in lap 1 is just to hold position and survive first 4-6 turns until tire warms... At that point if you can start to pressure driver in front go for it or drive smooth save tires and use draft next opp.

My two cents. 👍

That's a good 2 cents you have there Tim 👍
With practice the kinks should work themselves out as drivers start to understand limits better.
I did about 35 laps online testing with Tim (WRP001) at Fuji to sort out drafting, corner passing (ie: can two cars safely go through this turn?), damage, and online traction (vs. offline), as neither of us have much online experience.
Even after that testing, today was an eye opener. Even slight taps cause damage it would seem :nervous:, and the effects of drafting are going to take getting used to, for me anyway.

I got tapped and slightly pushed off of Fuji well before turn 1, just after the race start, and thought, "****!, but no biggie", but it actually damaged my rear suspension. I was really surprised that the car took damage, as it wasn't much of a tap, and the other driver probably didn't think much of it either. No contact looks like the only safe way to go. (This ain't Nascar )
Weird racing all morning with my wheel off-centre :gtpflag:

3pm UK time next Sunday ?
Okay if I add you to PSN in case there's a free practice slot?

Who didn't show today? Are they still interested? Let Gamesta know if you're not so he can give the slot to a reserve. Also if you can't make next Sunday let him know so reserve(s) can practice. I would expect at least one person drops given how long it was from initial sign up to first race.

I'll be there next Sunday (even though I hate daytona).

i will definately make it again next week, and i'm definately not one who quits a league early cuz i can't win. im in it all season boys.

Yeah I caught that too, about the public blowout. If your feelings are hurt maybe watch the replay, see if what you think what happened really did happen, then let Game know what you think. I agree with you on that WRP.

I think all went well and I was not really surprised or upset and any taps or wrecks. Even when I got super wrecked it's not too upsetting because for me it just adds to the realism. I limped back to the pits in last and moved on. And on top of that there was probably something I may have been able to do to avoid it.

Speaking of realism a race is a race and my opinion is to let it rip to the first turn. I'm the guilty party on one of the 1 lap test runs. I ran it hard to the 1st turn and gained many spots. But then again I don't hit anyone when doing moves like that. I'm faster at racing than qualifying so that's how I will continue to work it. Qualifying in front of me does not earn one any special privilege. You have to race to win (for me try to win). With that said I also laid back when appropriate. Time will help and we will all get it down. I'm not going to make any bad moves on purpose and be "that guy" just to gain a spot. I don't think any of us want to do anything risky because of the damage setting and compromising our own cars.

This league just won't be for complainers. With grip to real and damage to heavy there are going to be incidents and the potential for one to get knocked out of the running is high.

Thumbs up to Gamesta for anticipating all this and running tests in this fashion. I hope to learn a little about how you all drive to stay clear and keep things clean so we have some fun races.

AllinWitJT and I won't be able to practice next weekend. We'll be at Leguna Seca for ALMs.

...Qualifying in front of me does not earn one any special privilege...

We can agree to disagree on that one. I believe an upfront quali earns a little leeway into turn 1 when those drivers are trying to give the same leeway to the drivers who qualified in front of them, etc. (a little cushion under braking so you don't punt them in turn 1 on lap 1). I don't believe qualifying up front gives you a free ride... we're just talking about turn 1 here on tricky tracks.

I can just adjust to how others are driving and that's what the practices are for... if the series takes on a more aggressive approach, fine then we'll go for broke in turn 1 and I'm down with that... but I'd prefer if it were otherwise.

I agree with your point...None of us are pro's and vision of surrounding cars are limited so taking a calmed approach on turn 1 is the way forward...However accidents do happen even in real motorsport (today in Monza GP)

Of course. I'm not going to assume that I can dive bomb every race at every track and be successful. Opportunity usually arises when some drivers are having bad starts or moving over on each other slowing themselves down considerably to the 1st turn. I should have elaborated more. I think we are closer to agreement than not on 1st turn etiquette and learning the driver field. The key is being able to read an opportunity and conclude if you can make a safe respectful move before going for it.

Ok. 👍

Should be a fun series. Looking forward to the long 30+ lap races as it adds a lot of realism too and also lap1 is not everything like seems to be the case on short races. Even if you do have to pit for damage early you can still salvage some points with a good comeback.

👍

My first name is Tim also

But back on topic and to add to the thread , I try to be as clean and smooth as possible at the first few corners off the race , with an eye for leaving room for others around me on the racetrack. This is my first " big series " so i'm sure I will make a few mistakes along the way also. When I do I have no problem in admitting that I am at fault.

Also a quick question - Pitlane speed limit. Is it to be observed on entry as soon as you enter the white line markings ? Plus , on exit , is it observed all the way out until the white marking ends ?

Thanks.
:)

Yes I will be checking that everyone is within the Speed limit during pitting for both on enter and exit within the white line.

So if your going to pit at Fuji Slow down to 75 MPH at the start of the pit entrance (white lines) on the straight as well as on the exit until the end of the white line you must adhere to the 75mph speed limit and yeild for any traffic coming down the straight.

Understood. Thanks for clarification. 👍

Due to time constraints I am gonna have to step out of this Season. Sorry I couldn't make this post earlier but so many things are happening. Hope all enjoy it and have a good race each week.

That's Cool NotSoSilent hope to race again soon.

TJC you have a spot now.

Sorry that you're leaving NotSoSilentBob.

Thanks , I'll give it 100%.

:):)

@ Killa_kandy
What was the pit error I made? Sorry, I forgot to ask after the race.
I'm not used to pitting much, esp. with speed rules (75mph) so I'm just curious as to what it was.
Was it speed related on entry?
I know I cut in late at Suz because I was debating continuing with the damage I had, and almost missed the entrance :D, but I was way behind at that point, and there was no one there if I remember correctly.

Sorry I wasn't able to make practice today boys. Didn't have access to the ps3 this morning. I'll make it next sunday though (and any other ones anyone holds) 👍

lol...When I was rolling down the pits you left the pit right in front of me and my car went into your car literally...Thats why I said unsafe release...:)

I can control that?
I had no idea. I thought the game would just hold any car up if it was too close.

Sorry about that, I never even looked, or knew to look for that matter :dunce:
Can there be an accident on pit row, or is it a "ghost" collision?

I kind of figured, but wanted to be sure. 👍
Although I was about to go launch an endurance race, just to check for myself :D

Great runs by the way KK!
We're all gunning for you now :nervous: (and the King, and Gamesta, WRP, ...)

Now that's the spirit 👍
I do race once in a while with some guys that are just crazy fast, and unbelievably consistent. It's good racing, but I usually always come dead last :( then keep buggin "when's the next one?" :D
See you at the last race ;)
