GTI's are the only cars I'd buy in white. Good choice. I see you got the plaid seats, great choice as well. Typically I hate kids who get nice new cars as their first cars, but you seem like a nice kid so congrats.

Lol thanks, I am paying off the whole thing including insurance and gas myself. I may need to get another job thoough.

Reading what you said, is that you have 3yrs to pay it off or must give it back after 3yrs?

Leases work where you pay a given portion of the car's worth for three years, and then at the end of the term, you can finance for purchase what you owe on the car (would be in the neighborhood of $11k I assume) or you can turn it in for a new one and do the whole process again for three years.

...Its kinda like renting a car for an extended period of time...

I'm likely to do the same with a Mazda 3, only because its going to end up being cheaper (monthly) and will come with a warranty. Which is a HUGE bonus.

Still, keeping my eyes peeled for a used car. I may have a friend who will sell me his W210...

Welcome to the club! What you have there is definitely my second favorite wheel/color/interior combination. 👍

Good luck with it. These things are immensely fun, even after a year and 18,000 miles driven. I just hope you are ready for a car that may get more miles on a tow truck than on the road. Mine has vacuum issues and I think we may have oil problems too. Hopefully yours will do better.

Thanks dude I'm in love with it. Its so hard to keep it below 3500 rpms!

Goddamn. That's choice for a first car.
tis:)

Its a lease. I know after 3 years I will want the newest thing out there so I think its a good idea. I can modify it but I just have to remove the parts in 3 years (not like I can afford to modify it.)

Sweet car!

Now don't forget to look in magazines like Sport Compact Car for all the great deals on sets of wheels with tires!

Dude, that's a nice car! I love the GTI. I guess that makes it the 2nd or 3rd MKV on this forum! It's also really cool that you're being financially responsible with it as well.

Based on a guess that's full of tuner wheels and whatnot.
Take a look on Vortex, see how they do it (NJ is ballin' big), let it sink in and take your time with wheels. The stance can make or break a car. Congrats with a new car, just don't drive it like an idiot and kill someone in traffic. Looking forward to see you around over there :sly:

I recommend leaving it stock before playing with it. At least pay it off. It's a GTI, a car that's not inherently flawed from the factory, at least, in a major way.

It being a lease, you can't modify it with anything other than VW-approved parts... Which you can add to your lease price.

Yea NJ is a big vw place a lot of my friends are into them too. Trust me I am a good driver. Especially because this car is like my child I don't shift over 3,000 just so I can save gas (it takes premium, and that what I am going to put in it) and because it isnt broken in yet.

I can modify it but I just have to get part that I can remove for when I give it back in three years. I am not really thinking of modding it quite yet because the payments/insurance/gas are taking up all my money.

You'll probably be like that for a while. The car is such a joy that I'm still having huge trouble not trying to have as much fun as possible with every corner or stoplight. And it's fun experimenting with the different areas of the powerband and the different notes that come out of the exhaust.

Aside from reliability, the car is amazing in every way. If there's anything I'd do to my car, it would be little things like an intake and such.

The car should be good at keeping you out of trouble. It isn't fast enough to get you into too much, and you'll be perfectly safe if you are responsible. And it is pretty responsive so you can generally get out of trouble if you make a mistake or something.

1. I love the sound of the turbo spooling up between 2 and 3k.:dopey:

2. I love the gti in stock form and I am going to leave it stock for a good while before I do anything to it. My list of parts I want eventually are Diverter valve, springs, intake, chip, exhaust. (that order).

3. I already know that I could get into a lot of trouble in it lol.

Also how many miles do you get out of a tank.

If I could get insured on one at 17 I would have bought a GTI also at 17 so dont blame you for doing it.

Once you shredd the tires get some GSD3 rubber.

Oh and if you want a easy 300hp all you gotta do is change the turbo for one of a 30th edition gti or a leon cupra, or a audi s3 or TT-S and get it remapped.

Enjoy :D

Also how many miles do you get out of a tank.

That depends on how you are driving it. I can get 380 miles out of a tank, 400 if I'm really trying. And then there are the times when I just get back for a break and I have trouble breaking the 300 mark.:indiff:

I'm sure you could do better because It's really hilly and there's really bad traffic where I'm at. It's amazing on the highway though. My parents made 30 MPG average on a road trip up in the mountains and I'm not having too many problems getting 25 in the city until I start pushing it more. Then I'm around 22.

Just because I now own a Mazda doesn't mean I dont like VW's.

Respect the car and it will respect you.

Not a very good idea on a lease. You're easily risking your warranty being thrown away. Just some advice from a long-time leaser.

I know my friend with an 07 gti was telling me today about the parts that void the warentee. I still want to get a new diverter valve with a spacer to make the nice pssh noise and I also here that the stock diverter valve is kind of crappy. My friend had the warentee and he went to get it fixed when he messed it up and they said it was fine but idk.

Then those are going to be either manufacturer parts or a VW tuner who works like Dinan.

If it isn't 1 of those, your friend is pulling your leg. Dealerships love to throw away your warranty when they see aftermarket parts.

+1

Right now in the MS3 community, Mazda is trying their hardest to throw out warranties left and right. Im not worried because I have the Warranty covered Cold Air Intake but others aren't fairing so well. I've heard some horror stories about the MKV GTI as well. If you are leasing, your best bet is to stay stock. For me, I BOUGHT the MS3 so I can theoretically do what I want. But after seeing how hard of a time people are having with aftermarket parts, I am weighing my options heavily.

The best thing you can do is to ask your dealer if whatever you are putting on the car will void the warranty. I've heard of guys who have either had the dealer not worry about what they put on their GTI or who have hidden the parts well enough to go unnoticed. But that's a pretty big risk and I'm guessing you're going to want your warranty.

VW themselves offer some parts through the dealer, so it would be best to talk to them. Like McLaren pointed out, Dinan occasionally gets their stuff approved by the factory as well (I think Neuspeed does too?). But given how new it is, and furthermore, how the car isn't even broken-in yet, it should be the furthest thing from your mind at the moment...

Just my opinion:

The GTI is a dish best-served stock anyway.

Everything Dinan offers is covered guaranteed. I also, do know that Honda/Acura only cover their own parts. And seeing as Neuspeed works with both Honda/Acura, and VW/Audi, I wouldn't expect VW to cover them if Honda/Acura won't.

I wouldn't know for sure, it seems like at one point Neuspeed had done some stuff for the factory back in the MKIII years... I can't recall for certain.

Odd, really, how it all works out.

How has that relationship with Mugen and HPV (thats Honda Performance Vehicles) worked out recently? There used to be a lot of HPV Civics and Accords on the lot here, but lately, I haven't seen any... Same with the NISMO Nissan products. We finally get their products/models, and I've maybe seen two of them to date.
