On now. Heat 1:

Scott Speed
Toomas Heikkinen
Sverre Isachsen

Edit: Heikkinen goes through, as does Speed.

Now Heat 2, which has:

Ken Block
Steve Arpin
Bucky Lasek
Timerzyanov (forgot his first name)

Edit 2: Block and Arpin go through. Is it just me or is Block essentially driving a WRC Fiesta? It looks very different from the Fiesta of Foust, Sandell and Heikkinen.

Now for Heat 3:

Brian Deegan
Tanner Foust
Dave Mirra
Henning Solberg

Edit: Foust goes through, as does Deegan. I'm starting to think those Subarus may have gained some horses on the Fords.

He is, his Ford was built by M-sport who builds all of the Ford factory teams Fiesta's for WRC, so he has a little different suspension and body. The others are all built by Ostberg (probably spelled it wrong) which pretty much is the go to for rallycross (also built the Dart for Dodge/Pastrana).

This weekend should be fun with some change!

Mirra will be in the Mini with Puma and I'm unsure if Chevy will be there with theirs yet or not.

I'm still debating on going yet, money is tight but it's at the dirt track so should be interesting too.

Chevy? That's new to me. What car? The Sonic?

Rallycross now has more manufacturers represented than in any other motorsport.

Quite the Overly optimistic claim, especially with the likes of Sportscar racing.

It will be pretty cool to see the Chevrolet Sonic take on the Dodge Dart and the Ford Fiesta among the American makes in this series. I wonder if Chevy will use the hatchback or the sedan for their GRC campaign.

Judging by the pictures in the link, looks like the Hatchback. Ideally, that configuration is more agile.

Bit of a wild LCQ and final for the Charlotte round.

After being there in person, Pastrana has NO luck nor does Block in finals. The Chevy looked small compared to any other car and slower than crap too.

I talked to Bryce for a little bit in the middle of the day, pretty much avoided Block's pit in general (even though had his shirt on).

Maybe the coolest thing about the Chevrolet Sonic being in the Global Rally Championship is that this is the only(?) American-made American car in this championship. It is certainly something to be proud of if you're an American car fan with the Sonic. You know how big it is to have representation like this in a series like the GRC. So it's something to look forward to with the GRC moving forward.

They are going to have to do a lot of work both on marketing and for their GRC car because both were lacking horribly (it looked more like a privateer team to be honest).

1. According to PMR's Facebook, the car is still kind of a work in progress, that's why A. It didn't have a spoiler (they're working on it-exact words) B. It looked slow. Granted the LCQ got canned otherwise Pat coulda caught Topi in the LCQ. It's also worth noting that some slight turbo problems might have been present (anti-lag). Either way, I love that car to death and wish them the best.

Sorry if this is off topic but when will we see a Focus Rallycross car in the GRC

Even though the guy that runs this in Euro rallycross gets annihilated in the face of the Citroens, as a fan of the current Focus, I still think that someone should bring over one of these and give it a shot

Why would they bring that over when we don't even sell Focus anymore and their Fiesta's are the class of the field already? I really don't see the point of reinventing the wheel for them.

Actually, we still have Focus (and that particular model). I do get what your saying though. Is that even built by either M-Sport or Ostbergs?

Both are built by Ost and M-sport (the Ford team vs Block basically). I forgot we had that model too but it wouldn't be healthy for them to promote two cars, they normally have a Ford Fiesta on hand anyway.

1. We have Focuses (sp?) I saw one at a Ford dealership
2. Yes, there are lots of Fiestas, but for diversity sake this should be interesting (cheaper perhaps?)
3. I would expect a private team or maybe the team that maintains these things overseas could bring them over maybe for one or two events. Would be nice as these things look really good.

I meant the Focus in that picture.

I don't know too many private teams who want to ship things that are running the Euro RallyCross honestly. Even VW didn't ship their Polo to most US events, so to say a small team would might be an issue. I think the Fiesta is cheaper but rally wise, probably not any different.

I meant the Focus in that picture.

I knew that but I'm saying I don't know how close they are built to the other Fiesta's already running. There is a reason why they didn't bring them over I'm sure, but it seems kind of iffy to run 2 cars that are roughly the same but different bodies.

I apologize, by small team, I mean a non-factory affiliated team with a sponsor (like Doran's team for example). I know the team that builds the cars, Pauell (sp) Motosport, who built these cars, is a real team so they could race them.

In the meantime, I can't wait to see what more the Sonic can do in Vegas and in '14

I get what you are saying, but Doran has pretty big backing with Traxxas, Monster to help foot the bill and I don't think he ships his cars all over though (his mini has stayed in the states I know for 2 years outside events).

Alot of people think that GRC is a joke in the rallycross world too because of it's demo style turns which always lead to big crashes. You can't say the same for other series that race as much as they don't make things funnel down like they do here.

Good point. (sigh) guess I'll stick to the RC version but then again, who knows. Maybe someone will bring the Focus over and adapt it for GRC.
As for the anti-GRC bias, I can somewhat understand that as Euro Rallycross is an older thing and more established (in the general spectrum).

Heads up! ESPN2 will show the GRC round from Las Vegas in a few minutes. It airs at 7PM Eastern Time.

So far, the results from Heat 1:

1. Tanner Foust
2. Steve Arpin
3. Sverre Isachsen
