Which currency is the note?

The top middle black bar of the bill says it's a American Bank Note Co. New York. So it's really American currency back in the year of 1875.

Sure, the American Bank Note Co. may have printed the currency for Haiti, but it most certainly isn't US Currency. First off, since when does the US $5 bill have Michel Domingue on it in place of Abraham Lincoln? Also, I remember seeing Latin on US currency, but certainly never French...
