Xbox me no like
I figured with its allmighty status in the ferarie world the F40 would be a shoe in to give me that little more I needed on the A licence race at suzuka. Boy was I wrong, what a POS. Sure its got hella top end but it plows thru turns like a dump truck and its brakes are horrid. The stock gearing is slughish, you have to regear it to keep the R's up as its got no bottom end. Just really disapointed with this car. eventually beat the race with the tuned viper, now theres a car :P

yes I know I probably spelled ferarrie wrong

lol mispelt Ferrari twice ...

I haven't saved up enough credits to buy the Ferrari but you're probably right. But next time you drive it keep this in mind. The car is very light, only a passenger away from a Lotus Elise and it's armed with a V8. The reason why it has nothing in the bottom end is because of the turbo lag.

Along with that it has no TCS, no carpet and no power steering. So I wouldn't say it's a POS you might need to work on controlling the beast a little bit better ;) .. when you do figure it out your point of view should change for the better :)

it is a 20 year old car. Keep driving it and learn to brake earlier and take it easy through corners. It's not a bad car to drive but it in no way is going to handle or perform as good as cars designed and built so many years later. Can't say the car felt too sluggish for me but each to their own.

I have to say the F40 is IMO the best car in the game.

Fun to drive and you can't get distracted one tenth or you'll be eating with the cows.

I really like the F40 its handling has character which i like in a car, obviously the gearing and suspension need a tweak and its a bit of a mare to use online as the slightest touch with anyone and she'll swap ends in a heartbeat :scared: but its a top car... one of my favourites.

I've not driven the F40 yet I only got my UK version yesterday. I did however have the Japanese version and both the 599 and 430. I've always play in Pro mode with everything off and it took me a good while to get used to both of those cars.
The way I see it is that each car has it's own individual character and you really need to get to know them first before you try and push them hard on the track. I'd advise getting to know the car a bit better first before coming on the internet and posting that they're a POS too because that just make you look like a n00b.

I like everything about the F40, and I don't give a 5h17 its not the fastest in this game. 👍

Once you unlock QTS you can tune it's gears. Its got a 450km/h top speed on stock settings, reduce it tome something around 350, gives much better response in the lower rev range.

I've literally just got the F40 too and I think it's great. You just need to learn to handle it. If it feels like it understeers a lot its because it is actually going fairly quickly, and obviously this effects the brakes too. I quite like the weaker feeling brakes, it makes stopping challenging. I did a time trial at Daytona Road and that first corner is so much fun trying to stop for!

I'm going with those who love the F40. Simply put, it's one of the most involving cars in the game. Eg. the GT-R 07 feels like it's a tool for getting you round a corner really fast and lets you get away with anything. Too fast into the corner. Just stomp the brake and the GT-R sorts the rest - With the F40 - YOU really have to work, and hard, to go fast..

Haven't fiddled with settings yet - I absolutely LOVE the way it almost touches 200Km/h in second :-P

I like the F430 a lot, I did drive the car for quite a while before I posted this, got the QTS. ( I didnt have to unlock it though?) belive me for 45mill I really tryied to like this car. For me this car goes totaly agenst my driving style. I hate cars that understeer all the time I tryied to tune it out of the F40 but just couldn't do it. Now the viper even the normal one fits my style pretty well. Its a little tight underbraking but not horrid and it will roll through the center of a turn very well, verylight throttle will make it a bit tight off the corner but thats easly fixed will more agressive aplication of the throttle.

I did not understand one single thing of that ?...

A legendary car doesn't make you a legendary driver.
How about, if you get to kow the "disappointing car"??? After 100 laps, come here again, and tell, what is your real opinion about the car

I found adjusting the power / weight helped to make for a smoother ride, the F40 only race did my head in for ages but i cracked it in the end just adjusting the power and weight untill it felt right

I can sympathize with Zodicus (the OP). A lot of these "super cars" handle terribly in corners. I bought the Ford GT and I had the same "OMG what POS" feeling. It's going to take me some time to get used to that car. Technically, "challenging to drive" is fun but IRL that's not a good quality in a car.

After playing GT5P I would NEVER buy a mid engine car (NSX, Lotus, Ford GT) or an over powered RWD car like the F40. I would buy a GTR '07 or Audi R8 (AWD) because I want to live a long life :)

I very much doubt there are any supercars IRL that aren't 'challenging' to drive quickly, and that is exactly what you are doing on GT, driving them quickly.

The super cars don't "handle terribly", they just need a bit more concentration than a Skyline or similar.

Saying you would never buy a mid engined car is a bit of a myopic view, both because the AWD cars you mentioned would still be challenging to drive at the limit and you'd come a cropper if you didn't know what you were doing, and also because one would hope that if you ever did buy an NSX or whatever you'd developed the necessary skills to handle it in the first place.

AWD isn't a substitute for talent.

Not sure this requires it's own thread - But S6 is now my all time favorite test in any GT game so far..

With Pro Physics and Sim Mode on the wheel, no ABS, no TCS and no ASM - This test is simply superb. The best I've managed so far is 14th place coming in at 2.38.808 - App. 15.5 secs off pace -

And yet - I am enjoying myself (and my lack of skill) immensely :-P

Cake and wood eh? hahaha!

The F40 is a steamer all right! It has no endearing qualities about it whatsoever. I'm only gutted that I spent the 450,000cr to find that out. I think that PD should add a 'test drive' feature to the dealerships where you can take the car out for a spin and see if its worth the outlay, because the F40 is a waste of money!

That's definitely a case of "Each to his own and all that" :-) I simply love to drive this car. It's fast, loose and a major challenge. Again - As I said earlier in the thread - Involving. You really gotta be on your feet to make it roll !... Remember to put a rotten egg between your foot and the accelerator ;-)

Agreed on the test drive thing. The 450K I spend on the F40 seems like the most value for money I ever got in a GT game !...

And yes - Cake and wood indeed !...

It will be added, that's for sure.

I'm trying to beat the 'F40 overtake everyone at suzuka' race at the moment and i think you are crazy. Without adjusting the settings and without any aids i'm still overtaking cars on the outside of corners, out braking them and controlling small drifts.
It may seem like a POS compared to a car that does everything for you (GTR on standard physics + TC, ABS etc) but thats an indication of the drivers skill more than anything else.

Sorry to be so blunt, its nothing personal but as someone said, get a few laps in and then see how you feel about it. I know the Ford GT is going to take me roughly 43,649 laps before i start to like it :)

Or just save your game before you buy a expensive car ;)

Im currently saving up for one... so it is really worth it? I want it to be able to do well online but this 80's brake thing is worrying me!

Hey, I don't hate the F40, I may buy it again, but it just doesn't seem that 'super' to me that's all. It definitely looks the part, and it sounds great too. Its just not race worthy, well not against those pesky Elises (which have clouded my opinion of most of the cars in GT5:P).

Or just save your game before you buy a expensive car ;)

With the advantage of 20/20 hindsight, that would be an excellent Idea, but unfortunately, to protect me from my own stupidity, I enabled autosave, so what your suggesting has no effect whatsoever. :indiff:
