True. There were a lot of really enjoyable races this season. I actually struggled at Big Willow and had to watch JW leave me for dead. I chose Laguna Seca because I got stuck on the grid and had to start last upon lobby reset. Somehow worked my way through the field and had a chess match going on with @Rinsky throughout. Ended up winning and landed 2nd overall to Sam. That had to be my best drive of the season.

That was a fun race for sure and I gave my car hell trying to race you. We had quite a few good battles throughout the season but I could never hold you off.
That's ok though because I learned so much following you and others during the season and that was just as exciting. Being able to race with the fast guys in this league is something that's definitely earned and not given.
We all know the level of competition in the ARL Gr.3 Series so my 3rd place for the season feels like a win to me.

There were so many good races that it's hard to pick a favorite but I would have to say La Mans is my top pick. Not only did I win my lobby race I also got the overall win for the Silver Division and that's something for me to be proud of.
It might not have been the most exciting on track race of the season but it gave me such a huge confidence booster to keep fighting the rest of the season.

Ur first win was actually one of my favorites I had never done well at lemans and to battle you for the entire race was definitely a highlight. Willow was alright for me I tend to run very well there. Monza was another fun one even watching Nemo go by on the last lap. But honestly hanging out with you guys made every race special.

Id be happy to be with both of you if you guys want. I joined your team after none of the people from my team decided to show up.

Sorry I was reading comments yes you and I have had alot of great battles and if I recall you filed an ir on me long ago and so far are the only person to accuse me of excessive blocking lol

Congratulations @BGCaligula & @GTR4MROD on your championship wins in the Silver & Bronze Divisions. Nice job guys

Also congratulations to @NASCARNATE91 @fullness @GTP_Guido on your podium championship finishes.

Congratulations to my teammate's @Infineon & @TurboTacho on a great season and a hard fought 3rd place in team points.

I somehow finished 3rd in the Silver Division against some very strong competition I wasn't sure if I could hang on to that spot or not.
I had said that I was going to run a limited schedule but the competition drew me into running the entire season and I'm glad I did.
With summer fast approaching I will leave my cave and start spending most of my time outdoors with my kids. So I will not be running in the ARL Gr.3 Series thur the summer months.
I will still jump into some of the ARL races like I use to do before I went fulltime if you guys will still let me race with you. But I just can't commit myself to fulltime racing again until the winter months once approach us.

Guys I had a blast and I've learned so much from racing with everyone for the past two seasons and I will be looking forward to running fulltime once again soon so I hope everyone has a great next season in ARL.
Great one on your 3rd place in the Silver standings. Though we weren't able to defend the team's crown we still managed a credible 3rd place. And my congratulations to the Silver and Bronze champion for this season.

It's a huge shame that my performance was a massive slump down the rollercoaster in the second half of the season, filled with incidents and mistakes due to my desperate attempt to widely push the car further and faster. Keeping it consistent was the main thing in my mind, but as the grid moved forward and got faster race by race I had to do something to it. And got myself burnt and bitten several times over.

Understandably you were originally planning to take on reduced participation this season, and it seemed that we were pushing and motivating each other to keep up. But you brought in your maximum commitment for the season which I greatly admired. I was glad to be part of the team and giving my best shot despite my poor performance as a full-season rookie. I still hilariously recall that I once feared you and Infineon on-track, back in Season 4 for the reputed speed and rapid pacing which got me real nervous when I was being lapped down or twice.

I do hope the next season would be something great, though most of us may be taking extended breaks off the racing line. (I'll be forced to take an extended break from work till June during selected days which I'll try out other leagues and racing lobbies.)

As for my favorite race, I don't really have any, nor I could recall of. Reason being that I prefer to enjoy the season as a whole instead, in which I did enjoy very much and appreciated for all the lessons I've learnt and tips given by many others. So a big thank you for managing Season 5, running the show and my apologies for the wrecking races that I've done.

Lastly, as I'm retiring the "Soviet turbo rocket-installed" Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car and taking on a new machine next season. I'd be posting the final version of my liveries (original "Orange sticker car" and renewed "Lightning McQueen wannabe") for all to share with. There's more than one trick to boost the grid start for that car!

My car for Season 6 is ready :gtpflag:

Season 5 is over and I just wanted to take a second and personally thank everyone who participated this past season, I know we got off to a shaky start with the tire and fuel rules being hit and miss but thank you guys for being patient and working with us. Looking forward to season 6 there are a few changes listed below but not many. We hope this brings the field closer together and will help get some good battle for points going. Again thank you guys for making ARL what it is today.

Changes:
  • Wildcard will no longer be a 2x points race, wildcard races will still happen as they always have with the exception of points. What this also does is allow us to run mixed lobbies on wildcard night.
  • The tire rule last season seemed to work pretty well so we will continue to fine tune that. The one BIG change for season 6 is we will now be required to run both compounds in a race. There is no set # of laps that are mandatory if you want to run the softest tire and come in right before the final lap and run 1 lap with the harder compound that's within the rules. The tire rule will not count towards a mandatory tire if a driver splits compounds (example: if a driver starts the race with RSS front and RS rear and the mandatory tire is RS, that first stint does not count towards the mandatory RS tire switch)
  • We will be introducing a 3rd division to help keep the racing close and points battles going on. We will have a gold, silver, and bronze division. This replicates how wec classifies their drivers and seems to work. We are currently working on restructuring the driver divisions as we speak and should have it rolled out by friday. By doing this we hope to bring the battles closer together and make for some fun racing. The addition of a 3rd division does not change anything with teams.
  • There are a few more changes to come, nothing major like the others more housekeeping than anything else.

Schedule:
We have the tracks selected for season 6 but havent got times, tire or fuel yet that will come later this week aswell but wanted to atleast let you guys know so you can start testing.

Press Release:

Smokey Top Racing would like to thank our sponsors Ford, Budwiser, Verizon and VP Racing Furls for a great season. Thanks to ARL for a great series.

With that being said it is sad to inform you that we have parted ways with teammate @CPT_RowdyGiff . We thank him for his hard work this season and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. We are currently looking for a Silver Driver to fill that vacancy.

The folks at the shop are still partying it up after a 5th place overall finish. The phones have been off the hooks with sponsorship offerings. Everything from industrial machine lube, to high performance muffler berings. We will be reviewing all sponsorships in the near future. In the meantime, we're only 10 cases into our sponsorship bonus of 1 pallet of beer, so back to it.

Thank you.
