I typically check out the auto show every year. This looks interesting if the lineups aren't that long - doubt I'll be anywhere near the fastest times, though.

haha I'll give it a shot, probably won't get fastest times.

Kinda lame that the hotlap challenge happen to be the only thing worth my time about the toronto autoshow.

not that interesting

im more interested in knowing if the new Viper is gonna be at the chicago auto show ??

Wonder if someone with a free pass and let all us GTP'ers know what the track and car is, then we all meet up on one day and post up all the times. I'm interested in seeing how I fare against my fellow Torontonians

If the autoshow was even somewhat decent up here, I would consider go, but I feel like I'd be paying 20$ or whatever it costs to play GT5 👎

I'll be there on the 23rd, which is a Wednesday.

Found a YouTube video on this... they mention the grand prize is a PS3 console, other prizes include the game itself, and "other" prizes as well...

I'll be there as well, most likely going on a weekday to avoid the crowds.

I didn't know that something like that would be at the autoshow, I remember the Ford GT challenge a few years ago when the GT was being unveiled. I'll have to check it out.

Yeah, my thinking exactly... too bad it seems a lot of people think like me... :ouch:

Hopefully it isn't as nuts as it would be on the weekend.... I've yet to go to an AutoShow where I didn't feel claustrophobic...

lol only us enthusiasts think alike... I doubt it will be nuts since we'll be dodging all the families and FT employed people... I'm a student so its convenient for me as I'll be on reading week that week

no but thanks for reminding me of the autoshow. hopefully ill be going

Once we find out the car, track and settings used, we can start practising 👍

Going later during the week will also give you a better idea of what time you'll need to post since they're apparently posting all the lap times online.

@ Evolution_GT - I've worked some ninja magic and merged the two threads together.

So I've noticed...you truly are a super moderator!

Thanks, like i said, ill update the original post as info comes in... I will definitely be taking photos though if worse comes to worse and i dont get a chance to play.

Lol.. I emailed them as soon as I got this email to see if they are going to disclose any more info (Car, Track, and Tires). Hopefully they reply back soon! :D

I'm curious to know if anyone would like to share what place they've finished in the online Time Trials? It would help to know if this auto show will even be worth while going to this year (as long as the grand prize is worth it too :)) !

EDIT: Was watching the video while I was typing this... So hopefully they announce a better grand prize? Kind of worth it to get a PS3.. But I'd prefer a PlaySeat :)

This is Canada only? And you guys say America gets all the fun:sly:

The Milwaukee Auto Show is the highlight of my automotive year, I love seeing all the new models without a (true) saleman breathing down my back, all in one place. If this would have been there, It would be the cherry on top. People would say "Oh my god, that guys hasn't hit the wall yet! He must be immortal!"

Sweet, I'm gunna be at the show some morning first thing, I somehow doubt I'll win anything though.. Who knows though, maybe I'll get lucky.

Something else I'm curious about is the wheel/cockpit (pod?) setup they'll be using - will it be the DFGT or possibly even the T500?

Most likely a Playseat and DFGT... It's the only wheel/cockpit setup that I've seen with my own two eyes that Sony has used to promote the game...

Maybe if we're lucky we'll see an appearance of the T500RS

Updated the original post a little bit with a video a little more info... still trying to find out as much as I can....

bump for autoshow starting tomorrow... for those who are going please post when you think you're going and if you do actually participate please post the exact details of the challenge in a very specific format! Please and thank you.

FYI I expect to go either Wednesday or Thursday (23/24), still not sure yet.

Impatiently waiting for more details about this challenge :)

What would be sweet is if they have a 5-monitor setup at the show (now that it's available after the 1.06 update).

I think I'm going tomorrow as it's my only free day of the week.... I'll post something if I go there before anyone else posts? :p

I was there on Friday. I didn't have chance to play GT5 as it was packed with the people. I don't now what the car was but the track was Deep Forest.

It was a DFGT and a nice looking seat as well. They had killzone3 on the other side as well.

But I highly recommend people ti come to the show.

Notable cars were the Lexus LFA, BMW had a 1 M series on the floor and a Frozen Black (matte) M3 it was amazing. Also hidden on the 100 floor (I was leaving and about to miss that floor) are all the exotics. They had a Ferrari 458 italia, they had some nice looking Murcielago and Gallardos. And they had the Aston Martin Rapide and the Lotus Evora. And guess what they also had ... A ferrari F40.

Since the organizers of the autoshow are stupid the section with all the exotic cars is very easy to miss so like wise the place wasn't crowded at all.

Alright, just got back from the Auto Show and here's what I can tell you.

We're using the McLaren F1 Stealth Model on Racing Hard Tires F/R at Trial Mountain Circuit (not Deep Forest as RacecarBMW has mentioned). You ARE ALLOWED ANY/ALL driving AIDS you would like to use. A DFGT wheel with the custom GT5 racing seat setup is being used.

Also, you can only do two laps per attempt. Meaning you can line up as many times as you want and compete to try and win the grand prize (as mentioned in OP).

Anyways, as it stands for tonight... I have third place with 1:23.926 with no driving aids on. I know its not spectacular by any means... Second was roughly 0.700 seconds faster at 1:23.2xx and first, was around 4 seconds faster at 1:19.xxx. I really want to know how first got 1:19.xxx ... He was consistent at 1:20.xxx, so if you're on here, please do share (if you'd like to share your secrets of course).

I will not disclose anybody's name as I do not have permission, but I can tell you that the first and second place people are related :P

PS. Are you on these forums? It's good to know there are fellow people in the Toronto area that are actually decent at the game. I was the only person that broke top 5 today. All the other top 5 lap times until I came were from yesterday. Anyways, first place - YOU ARE A BEAST hahahaha
