Although I consider myself a cynic most of the time, the word announcement suggests something different than the word news, although it might just be semantics and doesn't really mean anything significant.

Yeah, announcement being the keyword. Honestly, I can't believe in any release date rumors, but the fact is: PD officially has stated an "announcement" in the forthcoming E3, and that can only mean a true date to change the "to be announced" state which the release currently has.

News is the term used to define any teasing on the game, but announcement can only mean a release date(or a cancellation ). However it doesn't mean that we'll get the game "soon" , they can announce December 2010 as the release date.

No matter what "announcement" we get, someone will be pissed. I'll be happy with any date, just give us some date PD. :grumpy:

I hope Sony goes all out at this E3. Microsoft doesn't have much going for it besides Natal.

I also dearly hope that the announcement doesn't have the word "delay" anywhere in it.

I'd actually be just as content with a features list. Yes, a release date is great, but right now, I'm in the mood to know what I am getting myself into with a game such as Gran Turismo 5.

You just know that Micro$oft will try their best to spoil the fun and announce Forza 4 is in the works, even though they probably won't show anything.

Well, they're not going to proudly proclaim looking out for a delay-announcement are they? ;)
Not even PD/Sony with their questionable PR-strategy are that daft, but indeed it doesn't mean it is coming soon perse.

Expect release date at E3 and second delay announcement at TGS.....

@R1600Turbo:Forza 4 will end up being a re-hashed polished up Forza 3.

I wonder if they can retain their "definitive" title they claim to have garnered.

We actually prepare for some months. Preparing doesn't necessarily mean it will release SOON. Preparing for ten years for a violinist is commonplace. SOONY will only surprise you and then disappoint you - just to create a media hype.
When you put announcement and prepare to drive gt5 soon it hints at a release date, yes. If you take into context that the article is about the 24hr race and the Ring, and it's the EU PS blog, it's clear they are talking about being able to drive gt5 at the race.

I'm not so sure. They can't possibly think that that doing with FM4 what they did with FM3 will fly with the fans.
They'll take a few years and do something nice with it. I'm thinking XBOX720 launch title if they do.

I do agree.

At E3 2009, there were no real announcements. Sure, a trailer, but a trailer is not an announcement, per se.

So, my hope is a set date and perhaps some announcements about the game's features. My fingers; they're crossed. :)

Yes, the words hint at the release. But "SOONY will release it SOON" means several months or even a year. Even if SOONY announce the release date, "To Be Confirmed" can replace it anytime according to the past conduct of SOONY. So, go for a drive at the race.

I thought E3 is all about anouncements anyway?

Sony at E3.

"A lot of the world wide fans are still waiting for GT5, we ourselves always said soon, so we will give it to you by the end of next month!"

WOO everyone goes crazy!

Man, you're making me sad......

Cheer up! PD/Sony aren't going to keep this game to themselves forever. They have to give it to us evidentually!

So relax. 👍

The Nurburgring is Gran Turismo's crown jewel. Giving out this kind of media release more than a month away from E3 itself... you have to know that much, much more, and more impressive goodies await, if they're happy to drop something this impressive on us so early.

I mean, I've always wanted to open up those side roads and race onto the GP course, and now we get to! Heck, we get the entire thing in one circuit. And this is just an hors d'oeurve compared to the info we'll get at E3.

June 17th is going to take forever getting here... but it should be a fun wait, coming here to watch everyone going as crazy as I'd like to be. :D

June 15th. :)

"Sony has sent out official "save the date" notices for its E3 2010 press conference, which will again return to the Shrine Auditorium at its usual 11:30AM PT time slot on Tuesday, June 15."

"Unsurprisingly, the announcement also notes that Sony will be available for appointments during E3, June 15–17"

The countdown in the topic title is for Sony's conference on the 15th. :)

Well, further proof that too much government is bad for the brain.

I really need to get out of this idiot federal bureaucracy. I can't believe who I'm working for...

Yeah, I agree buddy, there's three possibilities at E3:

  • PD gives us a new trailer, they show some new tracks and cars and give us detailed info on some features of the game. Release will be announced at TGS.
  • PD gives us a complete showcase of the game, show some Original tracks returning to GT ( whoa! Trial Mountain! :dopey: ) and explain features like car auctions, GT auto, Class system ( supercar, Touring, Rally ) and WRC. Release will be announced at TGS.
  • PD starts the conference showing a blank powerpoint presentation, there's a release date on the first and only slide. Everybody goes home happy. ;) Ah, we do get the usual 3 min trailer to discuss and drool at the full GT5 glory.

It's a win or win to us. :D 32 days and counting. ;)

There is a saying that you can't polish a turd.

As for E3 although I am obviously hoping for a release date, if I had an avalanche of info and no release I would still be pretty happy.

I just remember how let down everyone was last year, I just can't believe that there will be such a lack of info this year. Not with a 2010 release pencilled in.

There is also proof that you can:

As for a 2010 release pencilled in, when did this happen?!

Just a bunch of execs saying that GT5 will be released this year. I wouldn't really say it's penciled in, though.

Well Skidmark, as a date on the official US PlayStation site, I trust it a heck of a lot more than most sources we've had to-date!

Do all the upcoming releases have a pre order option?

I haven't seen it on there before.

The pre order has a link through to 5 retailers the top three all have down Nov 1st. One is June and the other end on October.

I know all the retailers tend to make them up to get the pre orders in but being linked directly from Sonys own site is a bit more interesting.

If there is a pre-order option available on the official Sony site now, then it looks like 2010 is even more official. The wait looks to be officially over:tup:

It's certainly encouraging, although I wouldn't trust retailer dates (linked from SONY's site or not) until we have a formal date announced.

 It will be over to me, when I finallly get my hands on the game. ;)

Anyway, it's good to see some news flowing. After a long drought here we are, amazed by a new track and excited about the forthcoming E3. 👍

It varies from late june till start of November, the pre-order days from the selected sites you can choose from, that is.. So while it certainly gives a hint combined with a "2010 release" "announcement at E3", and now this preorder option, nothing is set yet.
