I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Thanks for the laughs!! I left for a day and i am already several pages behind... ... trying to catch up now

No matter what criticisms most of you might have on this game, no matter what, I still cannot wait to get my hands on this game.

I will get it the first day, i will be in the line at night to get this game.

I didn't do that for forza3, i didnt do that for Shift, but i will do this for GT5, that should tell you something...(other than me being a fanboy :P ... which i dont think i am)

In reality I only have to wait till Friday the 11th :)

World cup starting, saturday+sunday = le mans, thats 24 hours, making me sleep most of the 14th, and voila... E3 is here.

Let's see what they have to say... but ultimately, we will still have to wait :( :( :( the wait is NOT over until we get the game in the stores!

No, I think most or all - and more - of this is what we'll be getting in an online system. There may even be a Season Mode Online of sorts. Wouldn't that be exciting! And undoubtedly, there will be rewards for participating in online racing.

However, as cool and possibly genre defining as it will be, I'm still going to be spending most of my time racing offline, taking down manufacturer cup races and collecting cars. And if there's a track creator, as well as a livery editor and race mod system, you'll know where I'll be spending a lot of my time.

Gran Turismo is already genre defining to me. You know, I can race a game with a handful of race cars and great physics, or a game with a handful each of race cars, tuners and supercars and nice physics, or a game which is an encyclopedia of cars and great physics. So when it comes out, and I want to race, there won't be any question what game I'll be playing. ;)

👍 The fact that GT has a much better physic software and computational codes than every other racing games out there (save from iRacing which i have never played) is already ground breaking for me... I have yet to see other games doing better. Until then, GT is genre defining for me as well.

Who cares if it's revolutionary or not? What we've got is a game that will pretty much be a class above the rest regardless of whether it does anything new.

GT5's sheer quality and content is what will sell it. You know what, if GT5 had the content of GT4 (which it looks like it'll have) and has the graphics and the general upgrades introduced in GT5p then really, how can it fail?

If it's evolutionary then it's only evolved from the revolutionary game that was Gran Turismo way back in '97.

I agree with you... 👍 I am already SOLD, and ready to buy GT5, just based solely on what you said. For me i would be happy if it was just that... just one step further from Prologue... anything else, above and extra from it, would just be complimentary. so long as the original formula has not been change.

All the tech in the world is no good if you get dumb AI. I'm not having a go just stating my opinion. None of us as actually played it yet I'll reserve judgement till I play it. 16 players online at 60 fps sounds great on paper. When I play a full grid with no lag then I'll heap out the praise.

Oh and mr latte, where you say if it turns out to have fantastic gameplay and a well rounded sim then that's a bonus. I'd take those two features over everything else thank you.

I have to admit that the AI in GT are way easy for us players to beat and pass... but i think it was done on purpose that the AI be nice and drive in a line configuration.

First of all, they all follow the "best line".
Second of all, PD/ Kaz probably didnt want to make it too hard for us. It would turn a lot of people off if the AI were all driving the way WE drive... it would be impossible to win... Imagine how hard it would be... if it difficult for us, how would it be for the casual gamers or younger players... it would be totally out of their reach.

Therefore it has been a good compromise i believe that they set up the AI as such.

but conclusion, they should make it adjustable... an AI that we can choose their level of driving, an AI with more Intelligence than Artificial.

Time for some good feelings.

I'm losing my favorite game" God I love that GT2 Intro!!!!!

No matter what anyone says PD is the ****.

GT2 Intro.

Redefining!

GT3 Intro.

Epic!

GT2 was the first for me... and so "The Cardigans" intro is my most favorite! No comparison.

The 458 Italia Vid is awesome, i love that one... that should already be indication of the good work PD are doing for us in GT5.

Same here. 👍 To me, the GT2 intro is the best one so far, and I doubt that will ever change, since it's the first memory I get when someone says "Gran Turismo". I literally started crying when I last saw it, around two months ago. :(

Yeah, that intro just pictures PD's competence in building teasers and promo videos, one of the nicest opening movies in all PS games.

Okay, I'll keep it more on-topic:

Honestly, GT will serve me for literally years as long as we have 16 car online races with garage cars (not just stock cars), a more robust photomode, and physics like the Z demo. If I can race against friends with my own cars and solid physics, I'm set, and the photomode satisfies my love of photography in real life. Throw in a livery editor and my creative appetite will be sated for years, really. I love the games; I hate the egocentricism and marketing spin the makers surround it in :).

Even given PD's record of constant delays... I'd be very, very surprised if we don't get a release date at E3, because the atmosphere basically requires one at this point. The only question is when it'll be released. My guess is September or October, because it is a big enough title that they can still bank on plenty of Christmas purchases, and still have all the diehards buy in the release month. I assume we'll get a new video, and touching on a subject I read elsewhere; I hope they don't give us a car list. Maybe a partial one, but I love the surprise when loading the game up, and browsing what's available.

What do you think about the iPhone 4 wich was presented today from steve jobs? Why I´m asking this?

There were no official infos about the iPhone 4 till today and after the presentation today, now they release it worldwide in 15 days! There were no leaks from stores that it will be released so fast, it was not listed or so... And as I sayed, now only after 15 days a worldwide release...

Same scenario with GT5 can be possible, let´s stay 1% optimistic :)

Could you be any more off-topic?!

But, as I'm all excited because I just read up on the new iPhone 4...so glad I skipped the 3GS. It'll be my first iPhone, so can't wait to get my hands on one!

In relation to your point about releasing in 15 days, they have to launch quickly because now everybody knows the specs and features of the new iPhone, nobody is going to want last years old tech. It's not quite the same with GT5 - they could tell us everything about the game at E3, but with no alternatives to go at, they do not have to worry about cannibalising sales of last years model. We have no choice but to wait.

I just watched the Viper ACR at Nürburgring video on the News page. Just... wow. It looks so much like the RUF Yellowbird video I have seen on YouTube. I'm really, really happy for everyone that has a PS3. :)

Real quick.
Gran Turismo 5 at E3 will be presented as a game that will evolve over time.
Real tracks will be added alongwith cars through DLC bundles. There will be no need for track editors.
The Move. We wanted damage and movable objects. Now whose going to clean it up?
WRC drivers will use the Move to fix and the spectator mode will allow spectators to help.
NASCAR and debris cautions. Same as above plus Team Builder will allow teams to work on their own cars.
Online endurance races will have driver changes.
Headset communications will play a big part in Gran Turismo 5. Even when racing offline.
Ok, ok I goofed. Real Quick turned out to be real boring.

Thanks, at least someone can see the humor in my post.

Ok lets break it down. Why should GT5 be a stand alone game? Prologue wasn't.
If I'm correct we had Spec updates. Gran Turismo 5 could have spec updates which will included tracks and cars.

The Move. Are we going to just plow through the movable objects and body parts from other racers? Safety Car period?

During the 2009 TGS it was discussed that PD wants to include Spectator Mode and Team Builder.

I truly believe that we will get online endurance races. Driver changes can't be hard to implement.

Headset communications. It is possible.

Same here (Except for the World cup part since I'm not really interested in it). If anything, the weeks have flown by for me because of the past few epic race weekends. There was the 24 Hours of Nurburgring/Grand Prix of monaco/Allstar weekend two weeks ago, then the Indy 500/Coke 600 weekend a week ago and then just this past weekend, three great days of racing (saturday being the best) which went like this:

Friday: Camping World Truck series from Texas
Saturday: Six Hours @ the Glen/ ARCA from Pocono/ Nationwide Series at Nashville/Indycars from Texas (lots of channel flipping here)
Sunday: Cup from Pocono (not that interesting until the end, but still good)

So this is just the last epic race weekend for me before E3 and even so, I've got plenty to keep me busy:)

I honestly can't believe we're down to the final week. I've tried really, really hard not to get excited about GT5 news at this year's event, but once again hype has got the better of me :dopey:

Here's hoping this next seven days flies by.

Who's hyped about GT5 being announced next week?

ALOT of you guys are, right????????

Now before I say what I'm about to say.. I would like to make it VERY CLEAR that I am NOT trying to start a bunch of arguements from saying this.. But in Mimaximax's most recent video, ALL the cars are premium, and going along with the assumption that production cars will have limited damage.. Why are all the cars in that demo premium?? Before seeing that I was on the side that thought ALL cars would have interior view... but now..

After watching that video I'm now starting to believe that it is 170 that will have interior view and that it had nothing to do with damage...

I really hope this is cleared up at E3! Here's hoping..

World cup and the F1 for me.

I hired out BLUR from blockbuster aswell, it's really fun actually.

I really hope we get a release date at the very least. I would like to see Codemasters announce Grid 2 aswell.

I like the PAL-E music for GT2. Yea it's the same song but it just fits the video better. Probably because this is what I first saw/heard with my GT2 game in New Zealand.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tm4sdRzcUA

I hope E3 will clear up a few things like locations/tracks and premium/standard car models and tracks. Also night racing with day-night cycle. But most of all a release date.

GT5 will be an epic game. I want to see more rally as that was what I used GT4 for after I finished it.

I remember seeing this thread first time back in the day and it said 70 days to go. I felt miserable. Now I feel pumped up, hyped and optimistic! Good things are about to happen.

+1 👍👍 I share my thoughts with every line in that quote. And unlike the optimists I don't think that we can bet on a July or August release.

I think it's going to release in July or August, unless they're polishing up A Big Feature, whether it's race mod and a livery editor, a track creator or something similar in scope. The cars and tracks, online features and gameplay should be done and all tested up by now, or close to it.

I'm expecting at least a couple of big surprises, so I have my seatbelts ready. :D

It's also possible that every game will be the equivalent of a Special Anniversary Edition. How cool would that be?

What im hoping to be announced is the online features of the game. I would like to see the GT mode be online in a similiar way to FM2 career mode. For those who have no idea what im on about let me explain.

If the GT mode has online leaderboards for each event this will make it far more interesting. Firstly if your re-running events to get credits then at least you have something to go for i.e leaderboards. Also its great fun trying to be consistently fast for several laps because its a fine line between pushing too hard and being too cautious. The FM2 career leaderboards were great fun but strangely Turn 10 removed these from FM3. Even having leaderboards for the licences would be great fun.

Another aspect of GT5 that I hope is announced is the ability to create a racing team/clan. Wouldn't it be excellent to have leaderboards for racing teams with the positions of the teams based on the time trial leaderboards. So if your team is dominating the top spots of the leaderboards then your team will be No1 on the race team leaderboard.

I might complain about FM3 but I have to hand it to Turn 10 because the online side of FM2 was excellent. I feel PD would be wise to steal some of their ideas from FM2. This is why its baffling why Turn 10 removed some of the best features in FM3.

👍 July or August seems very possible. That would very much suit me and I'm guessing everybody else here too. It will be sucha huge relief once I've got the game.

GT1 intro for me..

Reminds me how it all started, the music still gives me chills down my spine.. so many hours spent carving tenths and hundredths of seconds off laptimes..

What's great is all the new GT5 promo videos still feel like they have the soul of GT1.. it's truly amazing.
