In the used car section, why is each car labeled NEW and then also has mileage on the odometers ranging from 8km to 80k km?

New arrivals? Just as the used car sections in GT4 would announce the lineup had been refreshed.

The restore buttons are to undo "damage" caused by mileage, not (necessarily) from impacts during a race. The chassis reconditioning was present in GT4 and really helped with some of the used cars, but was damned expensive. Engine reconditioning is, as far as I can tell, new. In GT3, new cars would be broken in with mileage, and all cars' power eventually deteriorated with further mileage, but there was no way to restore this, save for buying a newer "copy". The power drop seemed to have been absent from GT4, so this refresh probably means it's back, but now with the means to actually not have to worry too much about putting too many miles on the clock.

I'd love it if the way you drove the car had an impact on the way "damage" to these aspects accumulated - e.g. harsh driving over curbs, bumps and into other cars a lot should accelerate the chassis deterioration. Equally, driving the nuts off the engine all the time, and / or driving with crappy oil should affect the engine's wear and tear more adversely then otherwise.

Probably the player has unlocked them.

Are you new to GT? They arent Labelled as new cars , the new means they are newly added to the used cars selection.

Really? So we've effectively took a step back from GT4? It's been what, 5-6 years now, and they couldn't implement a set of rims?

It says not all cars can be race modded, so that means not all Premiums and possibly (probably) no Standards.

Regarding the premium cars, I think it's a given not all of them can be race modded, if only due to being race cars already.

Well, I at least hope so. In my opnion, race modification (at least if it's done in the same way as it was in GT2) gives you effectively two cars instead of one.

If it's available on all or at least most of the premium road cars, we might still be looking at an effective 350+ premium car...
 
I think it's disappointing that people have a copy of the game already.
It kinda takes the fun out of getting the game if they post too much of the full game when everyone else is waiting for the release. The game's developers will also be unhappy.

I dunno, what do others think?

Yeah this really grinds my gears.

I'm all for function over form, but wheels to me are just about a necessity. Not only do they improve the look and customization of a car, making it more 'yours' than just another stock model, but wheels are also another area where one can shed some weight on the car.

It's damn depressing knowing that when I play online, my standard car will be set apart from somebody else's same model by what...paint color at the most? 👎

Some think Sony did this purposely, so as to hype the game more, but who knows.

I think those people need their own conspiracy theory thread. Sony spend millions on public events like the recent New York one, I'm sure they have better ways to hype the game and show new features if they wanted to. It seems to me over the last year they've already been forced to drip feed a lot of new tracks which were originally meant to have been revealed at or around launch, such as the TG test track, Madrid, Monza.

Well, I don't really mind. It's not like I'd be getting the game any later due to other people having the game already.

This way, I'll at least get some info on the game, even if PD/Sony wants to keep quiet about it.

I wanted to put a Porsche Carrera Engine into the VW Van with the Porsches Gearbox , wheels and brakes.

they just don't care about standard cars.the game is all about premium cars,standards are only for a variety.

That might be true. Would be a decent way to create some buzz. But why the censoring of the videos on the GTP homepage, then?

It could be part of the plan of covering up that its an inside job. To make us think its just somebody from joe public who is not affiliated with sony.

I could be way off base wrong though.

The way I understand it, only custom wheels can be painted, and only premium cars can have custom wheels.

You can't change the wheels on a standard car anyways, as it's saying on the wheel change option. So it doesn't really matter whether it's the stock rims you can't paint or whether it's the standard car's wheels you can't paint.

I'm confused, that makes no sense. The picture shows "Standard issue wheels cannot be painted." Otherwise known as the stock wheels on a car. Same video, wheels icon says "Wheels cannot be changed on Standard Model cars."

Basically saying Premiums can have different wheels with different colors and the standards are stuck with whatever color and wheel they have from factory.
