I love GT6, I grew up with the series but Darin Gangi was spot on, he was very polite if you ask me.

Although I can see more pros than cons the more I play GT6 thanks to racing online with mates which makes for an awesome experience, honestly GT6 is closer to GT5 than to a complete new game, to think that I payed full price when right now is on sale it hurts a bit and it is a clear sign of weak sales or at least not as high as expected by Sony.

One of the big issues on the release day was the lack of Quick Match/Shuflle online races, Course Maker and Arcade Mode tyre/full simulation along with proper Endurance races (give us at least a 2.4h races but not 24 minutes, please...)

Positive side out of all of this... that I am pretty sure PD finally is going to learn from mistakes otherwise...

Really? They rated GT5 higher than Forza 4...Biased how?

edit: read your next post "They are heavily sponsored by iRacing and every video its like "wow its good but not as good as iRacing!"" You honestly dont think GT games are as good as iRacing do you? Which is what your implying...
No i'm not. I am IMPLYING that they are BIASED. READ!

This forum pisses me off so much sometimes. Im taking a break. See you later.

...i guess the boys at insidesimracing would be the best judges for that seeing they play practically everything.
Not always - sure they play all games but last year they had a new reviewer do WRC4 who had hardly any idea about rally, let alone rally games.

No, they wouldn't. The real, legitimate complains would go away. Maybe the problem is you think all complaints/criticisms are whining. They aren't. It's OK to point out flaws in things. No need to have your feelings hurt.
Nope. No feelings weren't hurt at all, but if you assume they were, go right ahead. There's certain critictisms and complaints I agree with, others no. I agree it's okay to point out said flaws, but than others get's jumped for saying it doesn't bother them, and others assume those people are just being fanboys. Do you not understand that sometimes those flaws don't bother other people? Like me, there are flaws in GT6 that are known, but they don't bother me, like those pop in shadows.

I'm still going to stand by my point that there will always be SOMEONE out there who'll complain no matter what, even if all those things I mentioned were fixed. Just watch when GT7 releases if you think/believe I'm kidding.

Luckily the WRC games have been sucking the last years then or so I hear :D
I've been checking out their channel in the past months, and i find their reviews and the things they say always spot on. Shame Jessica Lopez quit because that meant extra viewing pleasure; but for the rest i like the points they raise concerning racing games, as Shaun and Darin have a lot more knowledge about physics, wheels and other aspects of racing games than the average games reviewer has with the big review sites.

Keep in mind that the review is focusing mainly on offline racing. Tuning, customization, photo mode, user interface, online play isn't mentioned.

For the half of the game that they reviewed, I agree that 7/10 is probably fair. All things considered, I'd give it an overall score of 8. And in the light of GT6, I'd now score GT5 as 6/10.

I liked some of hardware reviews there , but then I found many of them biased > more goodies the better is review. Obviousely , iR puts bread on the table ,so you don't expect anything else to be much good.Sadly

Regarding GT review.Don't care if Darin like it or not , it is his review , but then It bothers me that they got game for two (2) months and he didn't come higher than iB ? That is abut 5-6 hours of gameplay or 10 max? In two months with a game you supposed to review? That tells all. He even skip whole multiplayer thing? Wtf? There are more episodes showing new RUF car in iRacing than whole GT review ? Maybe It would be better they skipped whole review if they were not really interested (or maybe didn't have time to play) in reviewing GT.

Can't blame the guy for getting bored to death as soon as he reached IB no?
I think i would have the same playing GT6 offline, chasing the rabbit get's old quite fast especially if you have other racing games laying around that do offer good racing.

Online he mentioned briefly, that he would only go for that if you would find a league to join, as finding a descent room is quite tedious. He has a point there also no? Although i do think maybe he should have tried it for a day and then give us his findings also.

Pretty spot on review to be honest.

Although i find it a bit hard to take the final score when he hasn't even reached the S class events which are where the career really kicks in with fuel consumption and tyre wear.
Saying that the cons are dead on and this a video PD should watch and focus addressing these points for GT7 and we'll have great series return to greatness.

There really isn't an excuse for GT7 having the same formula anymore, what with all the negative points being mentioned so loud now here, and with reviewers at last.

I heard a lot of "we are looking into it", and "maybe in the near future" from PD, but if they don't patch the sounds like they more or less promised/ mumbled for GT6, credibility is totally gone IMO and that was Darin's main gripe also it seems.

Well, that's a matter of opinion about WRC 3 and 4. I liked all four titles but the last two were a huge leap upwards in both physics and graphical finesse.

The guy who did that review though was none of the usual things you'd expect from insidesimracing...which is kind of my point. I mean I always liked Alan Boiston's reviews but now he's focusing more on F1 racing, he doesn't bother with the rest, so things change.

I will give the vid a watch though.

Went looking for that review in question out of curiosity, but all i found was this video:

It's Shaun testing WRC4, driving a stage and giving some comments, but not a review?

No, it was some German guy, new to the team. I'll see if I can find it...

Ah yeah i know who you mean, he did some interviews regarding GT6 also and went to some games shows. Would find it strange that they would let him do a review though.

Ps in that video above he seemed quite positive about the physics and the graphics, just like yourself.

As I wrote , if you run (semi?) pro site about simracing and you do reviews ,then I'd expect you try (any) game (or product) at least more than 5h (despite being painfull) . I know his review serves your opinion on GT (no doubt :D ) and I am not debating that , but wouldn't you want from person that does reviews as pro at least take time to do some in-depth review , which in case of GT certainly is not? I'd expected more in-depth review from a site that calls themselves SimRacing.

Well, it was an interview with Milestone, so not a review as such. But here it is if you want.

Where did you get the 5hrs from? Doesn't mean because he just did the career up until IB that he didn't spend lot's of hours in the other modes no? ;)

 He doesn't even give his opinion there our German friend; just says he sucks at rally, had some fun during Gamescom and then commences to do his interview (typical German vs French dialogue there by the way haha).

Don't know how you came by ISR making him do the review though, he doesn't really. For me they haven't reviewed it yet so I guess they missed out on it as we are now already half a year after release.

like they more or less promised

I've never heard any video game developer anywhere actually promising anything related to work that's still in progress.

KY: “Like the sounds, that is something that we’re rebuilding for GT6. It won’t be the same as GT5.
“In addition to the things we’ve already announced, like the new rendering engine, the new physics, suspension, and handling modeling, the AI and the sound simulation is something that we are working on.
“As with pretty much everything in the game, we are going back to the basics and rebuilding it. We don’t know when the results of all that effort will come out yet, but of course, it’s not going to be the same as GT5.
He said this in June last year, so they had half a year more and still it hasn't arrived. A true promise it isn't you're right about that, but he does commit to it when he says something like that i think.

Essentially, the only thing he is "promising" (saying) is that they are working on it. He also says that he doesn't know when they'll have a result. By now it might even be that the development has reached a dead end and they need to figure out some other way to improve the sounds.

He did say though, that GT6 would launch with "different" sounds, he pointed out that the "new" sounds that they're working on wouldn't be ready at launch and he didn't imply that they would come to GT6.

But when they asked him about the sounds in the demo and later stage builds' sounds, he said those were placeholders and that the sound in GT6 would be different from GT5 at launch.

PC sims are better than console sims....Them telling the truth does not make them biased.

He said that the final game will have different sounds, not that it would launch with different sounds. In fact, he specifically said that it was not certain that the sounds would be ready for the launch. In a later interview he also said that the sounds would probably not be ready for launch.

I just watched the whole review finally, and IMO he was far to kind. I agree with most of what he said, but 7/10? He didn't even mention things like SRF being forced on or all the bugs and glitches that plague online and setup tuning like broken camber adjustments.

It should have got 6/10 at best. But I'm most happy that he had some pretty harsh words for PD, mainly when he said if the major things aren't addressed for GT7 he's done with the series. I love GT, but I agree with that statement 100%.

I'd be amazing if you could read :)
Im saying that you cant compare them, not that one is better than the other.

Well the timeline is open for interpretation, as to when it will happen. He does confirm it for GT6 though but I'm already doubting they will actually make the effort to update the sounds of 6 still, or save it for GT7 all together.

He also mentions a "new AI" almost and I don't think the lackluster drones/ awful rubber banding that is present in GT6 consists of that really... So where is that one also Kaz?

I agree with almost everything Gangi said. If you just enjoy literally driving cars, then yes, GT6 is a great game. Right now in GT6, I have 170+ cars and I'm making sure I drove each one of them at least once. It's fun. But sadly, that's all it's good for. If you want to race, don't even waste your time or money on GT6.

And before someone says to me, "Well, it's called 'The Real Driving Simulator'. Durrr... :dunce:", the game has races in it. So the AI needs to be good so they can be fun and challenging. No ifs, ands, or buts.

I agree with what the guy says, on almost everything. The main thing what let's the game down is it's just no fun, it feels like a grind because it is racing against soulless robots. I thought he was very generous giving it a 7, in the current state I would give it 5 at most. It almost seems like PD are not that interested in GT6, they got the game out there, made a stack of cash and are now just focusing on GT7 for the PS4.
