Spec 4 hey? I guess PD aren't done with this game yet, which is quite incredible because GT5 and GT6 had a shorter shelf life...

Thats just it pd wont add much in spec 4. Other than new cars and tracks, Things like sophy integreted career mode, new customize options, new tuning options, sound updates, will most likely require a new game, and will be a lot more refreshing than another spec update.
PD could add many more options & features [than we might also do in custom races] which we want in the single player campaign{s}. Like AI Sophy in all races, choosing between AI Sophy 3.0 & 2.1. Custom championships, which could make me think that we don't need [PD to construct us] a career mode like GT3&4&5 because we can customize the championships to be similar. Though, if we got Spec IV with many races, tracks, cars, & tracks from GT3&4 then the sandbox mode would be done with..!!

Its just not hit the same if their is no goal, custom championchips is not the same as have a proper career mode with progression, and as much i enjoy gt7 the career mode sucks and its not going to change, thats what a new game could really change. I am not against spec 4, but its not going to be as big as new game.

Look at spec lll it did not do much other than the cars and tracks, but nothing groundbreaking.

It just dosent refresh things enough like new game could do, not saying next gt should release now but i rather see trailer on that soon over spec lv.

I didn't get to do the survey, but if I could... I'd ask PD to, 1) drop the "chase the rabbit" AI setting; 2) drop the PP framework and restrict cars in same class

(1) is a legacy issue since GT4. I'd love to see an option to qualify, instead of always starting at the back with the leader with >30s gap;
(2) is to make future GT a more realistic racing/driving experience, because you should never detune a higher class car into fitting a certain PP. This problem is further worsened by the fact that you often start at last... meaning you MUST use a Gr.2 or GT3 car in order to have a shot at winning / getting a podium with a group of GT3 or GT4 cars.

Survey option doesn't include Online racing outside of sport mode lol do these people know their own game

Just give the ps5 users bigger lobby sizes (at LEAST 24 players if not 32) to tide us over to the next game I'm sick of the online experience being hobbled by catering to people playing on 13 year old (!!!) consoles

Survey eas focused on single player mode, the TRUE franchise soul

Then how do you quantify "class" when it comes to road cars, which are almost never built to complete directly against one another? GT Sport tried limiting them by power but everyone could see how much of a disaster that system ended up being.

And don't say "ignore them and focus exclusively on the race cars" because I will just laugh at you.

I have nothing against that “car encyclopedia” vibe Gran Turismo is known for. In fact that’s actually what makes this game stand out and feel so different from the rest.

My actual point is that this motto should not be an excuse to add whatever they find for whatever reason. What I mean by this is really simple: the recently added Captur has the personality of a door knob, and no, it’s not because it’s a slow road car.

It’s just the kind of car I like to define as “cars for people who see cars as 4 wheeled things that get you from point A to B”. What’s the point of including such stuff in an enthusiast world like GT?

Let’s take a first gen Twingo, for example: an even “crappier” car than the Captur on paper, but guess what, the Twingo has a lot of personality and charisma, so it would actually make perfect sense to be featured in the game.

For me, it’s not about a car’s performance itself. Being a slow city car was NEVER part of the problem. The car encyclopedia videogame should indeed feature all kinds of cars… but as long as they have the bare minimum of personality, as long as they belong in a world of people who love cars.

Trust, I understand it seems PD do things illogically. All of those don’t need a Spec 4. They can be done per update. Just as an example of what didn’t require a new game: SOPHY 2.0 doesn’t race in the rain, but SOPHY 2.1 does. I mean, it’s amazing to even have access to GT SOPHY when many thought we wouldn’t see it in this game.

I remember we had the Custom Race save option added to the game. Why would a new game be required in adding a points option or linking multiple races to make a championship?
We got the data logger. Couldn’t new tuning options be added in this game?

I get some may not trust PD to address quality of life issues and PSVR2 HUD issues and wheel & pedal issues, etc. I just think what makes people think a new game will fix all that? Especially when the latest PlayStation console is more powerful than past consoles and we don’t have every feature from past games in this game.

Is it me or has everyone gone into a dizzy over the mere mention of Spec IV?
Latest news with possibilities without confirmation. It’s fun to speculate.™️ ;)

Now we can't even start new campaign unless we register a new email address & new PSN account! PD have all the possibility to make us more options AAAANNNDD add new career mode regardless of a new game or Spec IV. The single player campaign which is the menu book is much worse & boring than the GT3-4-5-6-GTS type of career mode! There are many other events in GT7 though, but that does not feel much fun compared to earlier career modes. So a new game does not necessarily mean a proper single player campaign!
I would love to 're-play' the menu book with starts from standstill & never start more than 5 seconds behind the leader, with Sophy AI 3.0/2.1.
But all rules/options must be either optional or unlockable!

The career sucks in gt7 so there is no point restarting it, they wont change career mode in gt7 if they wanted to they would have,

Custom races or custom championchips is not the same as career mode with progression,

Look at past updates there has not really been much added in terms of features, and content has mainly only been cars and at times tracks, the events they add with each update is nothing special its just those boring chase the rabbit format.

Even spec 3 did not do much, last refreshing update was spec ll.

For many things i want to see requires a new game, because pd wont add that to gt7, things i have in mind is a different career mode not with chase the rabbit format. Maybe new tuning and customize options, maybe an upgraded engine when its no longer hold back by ps4. Gt7 has been out 4 years, and i have not seen any or very little of this even been added to gt7, it will require a new game before we see many of those features, sure its not guranteed, but i dont think gt7 has much more to bring to the table.

I have been one of the biggest defenders of gt7 since it released. But they have not really done much with single player or even barely improved it since launch,

Gt7 does a lot stuff very well, but the single player still remains as very poor, which is shame given everything else is solid. They took an intresting step with power pack, and i hope thats more the direction they take going forward.

Just improve up on it, so you can use your own cars etc,

If pd is serious about extend gt7 life i think it needs another expansion something like gt league with new races and championchips, that would bring new life into the game, but it would not feel the same so long after launch,

For road cars, you can classify with HP (e.g. 300-400HP) or layout (e.g. FR only). I agree the distinction isn't as obvious as racing car groups.

And lastly, no need to take this so seriously. You sounded like you were working at PD, and you boss read these comments...

They won't add a free expansion when they have the 20$ Power Pack, and if they do, it would be very small in content.

You are proaply right and i dont expect much going forward. I am at point where i am more looking forward to next chapter,
Rather than whats left for gt7.

What I'd like to see in a Spec 4

  • A better penalty system. I don't think I need to explain what's wrong.
  • No more penalties in qualifying, making you slow down and possibly ruin the following lap (ex: Fuji Speedway). Just make the lap invalid. It's not that hard.
  • Not "a", but "the" fix for the ugly shimmering and fuzziness happening with both ray tracing and PSSR 2 in GT Auto, garage and photomode. As a new PS5 (Pro) owner it's kinda embarrassing to see that on screen.
  • Even the Gr4 and Gr3 cars for the daily races. It's exhausting to see one meta car every week, leading to one-make races.

I started again the career and it is just broken. The circuite experience broke completely the economy of the game. There is no progression. Like no sense of what GT really was. It is a complete mess

All I would want to see is proper fixes for Custom Race (cars using the same tire compounds they're equipped with once they PIT instead of their stock defaults, and also the still-not-fixed 95% throttle bug) and also more Mission Challenges. Weekly Challenges only have an actual driving mission once every blue moon, otherwise it's a One-Make.

The last set of missions added in was "The Human Comedy", a fitting name, added in Version 1.13 on April 25, 2022. It's about to be four years since any new missions were added. They add a lot of variety to the game, with lots of potential for making some fun, out-of-the-norm challenges besides rabbit-chasing.

Indeed, and as of this post, the last drag race mission still seems to imply there are more like it to come.

Some ideas for a Spec IV that wouldn't take too much work :

  • More mapping options for controllers (critical as an old school player using cross and square)
  • More filters to the Garage
  • More filters to the Showcase
  • More filters to sell cars
  • A new text box feature to the Livery Editor
  • Simple HUD customization options (like replacing flags with brand logos or remove them ; a simple mode with only the position, remaining laps / time, tyres and fuel ; gaps displayed as laps etc..)
  • Let's add manufacturers that do not have recent cars to sell at Brand Central so they can still have a museum (like TVR or Pontiac).
  • A speed / max speed / acceleration test.

My hopes for an improved Custom Race mode are few.
Everything else like tracks, cars, events, scapes, extra menus are nothing more than the content of a regular update.

Maybe is something not so relevant but .... if GTA 6 will give us a "Sebring" track edition before we got it in GT7 will be so sad for Gran Turismo series....

for me spec 4 need to rebuild two or three things :
CLASS , Custom races , IA Livery and RACEMOD ,( removing rear seat , real race seat , wheel , light modification tell us we have body carbon race mod but nothing in visual fuel tank to match race car , making cars that can be taken as racecar and not street anymore... we can easily make own Gr4 cars but when it goes for fuel consuptions it's sucks...

class rebuild / multiclass races
or subclass to make easy custom race like GT500 GT300 , OLD 60's really more setup for custom races , by pp limit range by type of car , open wheel for exemple can't race with only F1 without beeing stuck to monotype A or B ... , allow IA to use online livery to make more realistic monotype race with variety
custom races like we have now is not enough in front of other sims...i don't care about cash i only talk about experience..like pcars 2 automobilista raceroom assetto much more custom racing...

i'm pissed off to race again indentical cars/livery for monotype i love alpine cup , porsche cup megane trophy or mx5 cup ... but if we have to buy cars and cars to make simple race...just for livery that sucks now...please pody we are in 2026 now not in GT1 anymore...and in GT1

Yeah.
Renault Captur is really a kind of car for people who wants just go from point A to point B.
At this point I have to agree to you.
But check this Renault Sport custom I made for it.
It gave a good hot hatch looking for it, and plus, a more than 350 HP tuning.

I think some players forget that it's also cool to take a family road car, with no sporting appeal, and transform it into a real sports or even racing machine capable of putting Supras and Corvettes to shame.
That's what makes me love GT.

1st, Bring back realtime pitstops teleporting cars in 2026 is simply beneath the prestige of the franchise
2nd, The cars still don't really get dirty and what dirt there is appears far too subtle after 4 years on the market this is baffling
3rd, I'd like more helmet variety like open face vintage helmets to go with classic cars or maybe a visor open option
4th, The Used Car Dealership seems redundant since many people have already collected these cars why not give some cars unique specs that you can't get anywhere else in the game. For example instead of always spawning with black leather maybe the "original owner" specced the car with tan or red leather or yellow brake calibers or white dials in fact the game could spawn random combinations giving the player hundreds of unique and collectable variations of the same car like the Ferrari 458 in Rosso Scuderia with tan leather yellow callipers and red dials etc
5th How about a driving area or proving ground to test your cars.In this mode your driver has no helmet as he is just a motorist. This area would be inspired by the best driving roads part of it could be like the Stelvio Pass with mountain hairpins another part could have narrow winding country lanes a tunnel could be included to emphasize the roar of the engine and yet another could be coastal or scenic. This area could have multiple routes instead of laps and optional traffic.Thats what I call The Real Driving Simulator! this is my perfect Spec 4

Less cars, more events.
Problem with modern GT games compared to the originals is they throw too many cars at you for nothing and there aren't enough events to cover them all. The days of having to grind and build up a car are long gone. In GT7 after the first handful of events & the menu system you will have a decent amount of cars that allow you to tackle a significant chunk of the events, during which you will have more free cars thrown at you to complete the rest. It's become an online racing, car collection series. Whilst GT7 was a nice return to a familiar single player career mode it was still a far cry from GT1-4.

You have an amazing event editor with sophy. What better then this?
