Sophy on Catalunya is a welcome addition! Hoping they'll also add support for more cars on the existing Sophy courses, such as the CLK LM at La Sarthe.

New events' tie-in cars:
  • Lightweight K-Cup / Eiger Nordwand: Suzuki Carry
  • American Clubman Cup 700 / Autódromo de Interlagos: C5 Corvette
  • Ferrari Circuit Challenge /Deep Forest Raceway: 812 Superfast
Note the CR-V not having a new tie-in event.
Maybe a CR-V Special Event is planned? 🤔

Doesn't sound like that is a special event candidate. Relatedly however, an issue mentioned in the other thread:
Disappointing, but not unexpected.

There's a giant hole in the game's event structure for Japanese 4WD cars like this Honda where if you're too fast for the Sunday Cup the next event up is the Japanese Clubman Cup 550, which has R34 GT-Rs and GR Supras in it. So I'm not surprised they couldn't find a good fit for it.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.59: Four Cars, More Sophy Events, & More

After a little slip-up at PlayStation HQ saw the vehicle content for the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 1.59 update revealed, we now have a little more confirmation on what the rest of the update will contain when it arrives on Thursday May 15...

PD didn't have to go this hard on a showcase photo for the Carry but put it on a poster.

Very midling update for GT7 but this does (hopefully) mean GT8 at launch will have a C5 for me to use in a (hopefully!!!) better career mode. So that's nice!

Also more cars to bulk up a much more fun early game. If all is according to my absolutely not delusional expectations of what GT8 could be like, it would be fun to see how far you can drag the Carry through the game.
You mean how far you can carry the Carry through the game?

Cars are great, but the rest of the update not so much…

Only one new track for Sophy
No more new type of events, so we are getting standard ones. I guess we will get corvette event in weekly challenges…
No more features
Even scapes got what? Square mode.
Not even a new extra book (the car collecting one) either, I was told.

Don't this thing got 190hp and 3600lbs? AWD aside that is very close to the Atenza with 170hp/3500lbs.

I love the fact in the article they pluralise things from “Japanese micro-trucks” to “More ‘Gran Turismo Sophy’ compatible tracks will be added” when for both those it’s literally just one.

Otherwise hope the cars are worth it - can’t wait to see “mum car” racing between the C-HR S, CR-V and CX-30 somewhere…

Love what's coming in this update. A few things jump out for me personally:
  • Sophy at Barcelona. It's another track I can add to my Sophy 590 Cup series. I may have to update my post in the custom race thread once I have them all sorted.
  • Family of Corvettes Complete. I'm actually a touch surprised how happy I am about this. Granted the Vette is my favorite line of cars (C2 Sting Ray holding my top spot) but I'm actually a bit giddy about this one.
  • Carry On My Wayward Son. I so want to a) see all the custom styles created in the first day and b) want to create a Carry v. Unimog custom race.
  • Superfast. I may have to re-create one of my "Car and Driver" shootouts when this gets in my digital hands. It will likely be the 4th car I buy that day and I expect to put several miles on it at "Saint-E-Croiks" before bedtime.
  • CRV school. This is a very good vehicle for me to begin teaching My Raptor what are some of the things to expect while driving. This is not an actual course; it's just a way to begin to familiarize a future driver with driving a car. PSVR2 FTW.

All in all, I love what's coming. That's not including things we don't know (engine swaps, etc.) that are likely packed into this next update.

Now if they could just add a custom part for the DeLorean that includes the flux capacitor . . .

Per PS Blog, the CR-V is the hybrid model
Well, that was revealed in the name of the car last week.

The "e:HEV" part is the identifier that it's the hybrid. It's also why I said that in our original article last week.

Mad that it doesn't have an event, loopy that we've got no Bonus/Extra Menu, three races for four cars, one fewer additional Sophy-compatible track than other recent updates, still NO SUZUKA SIGNAGE UPDATE (coming up on two years now), and the new Scapes include recycled spots.

This is literally the slow drip phase of updates. Not expecting anything major until the next game. The two newly added tracks are very small , fictional and super niche (snow track and weird swiss alps 2km track). Anything race oriented should not be dropping for a long time. Most race cars are severely outdated , it is outstanding how they can make this such a big esports thing with these cars from more than 10 years ago.

For sport and multiplayer oriented players this last year and half has been very very poor content wise.

As it’s not been mentioned either in the official press release or by Fanatec, I’ll hazard a guess that we’re no nearer to FullForce being implemented in GT7. 🥱

Tbh now that Forza Horizon’s on PS5 I’m not sure if these updates will be enough to pull me back into the game if they stay like this

Don’t get me wrong it’s nice that it’s free content but it just feels like there isn’t much purpose put into them especially once the main campaign is finished. Beyond logging into the game, buying the cars and driving them for a bit then letting the game gather dust until the next update I just don’t feel an urge to play. Right now I’m just wondering what the next game would be like

I keep wondering why PD refuses to make this right here available to us, I’d take this over literally any new Scapes location.

Because sometimes all you need is a plain studio-like background to photograph your cars.
They have maybe at least 10 different 3D locations which would be awesome to have for photomode but nope, not available. No idea why exactly we are limited to scapes and tracks. Probably my biggest complaint about the game.

Thoughts and prayers for certain content creators whose channels are dying in real time, due to the lack of interest in the game presently. Thank god I have a job that doesn't rely on me playing this game. The Ferrari and the Vette are interesting additions. Looking forward to the engine swaps and news about the official season of the Toyota Cup, to keep me occupied during the summer.

It's dead.

I completely agree, it‘s absolutely pathetic how virtually all GT3 cars are at least two generations behind at this point.

As poor as Forza Motorsport was in its release state, the last couple of updates have been great with the addition of new GT3 and GTP cars. I honestly don‘t think there is a lot of life left in Gran Turismo 7 and I wouldn’t be surprised if PD announced GT8 next year.

I don't compare Gran Turismo with Forza Horizon, because one Is a closed circuit racing game with a more realistic game configuration, and other is an arcade game focused on open world street races, so the player base is still very different, even with both of them being racing games from rival publishers. If were for Forza Horizon to kill GT, the same thing must be happen to Forza Motorsport games, that is the true Gran Turismo equivalent on Xbox.

Personally don't care if the GT3 cars include up to date iterations, but i get where your guys frustration comes from, because I want the current hypercars that are in this years WEC....really want to roll around in the Ferrari and Apline hypercars..the visionGT cars dont quite do it for me either

Same! If they just added them plus the Acura ARX-06 (on top of GT3 cars) the car selection would be almost flawless.

I wonder what the new geometric square photo option is exactly. There already is a 1:1 option right?
